And cheap as kid with part time job you could afford the the ticket back in the 80s I seen so many shows from 83 all the way to the early 90s then music died. I saw them on the Slippery Tour.
@@RobertBreedon-c3bditto! Cinderella opened. Can't remember who opened on the " jersey " tour....whitesnake or skid row?...from west coast Canada, peace.
Muse still puts on a show like this. It’s hilarious that the kids think the 90’s were the technological stone ages for sound and video quality. MTV was a Grand Experiment through Experience. Music videos were advertisements for album and ticket sales. Influencers, if you will.
I believe the song was released in 1986. They were WAY popular!!! They were classified as a Hair Metal band; I'll admit, I was one of many chicks who were pissed that their hair looked better than ours (definitely took massive amounts of hairspray).... hahaha!
Did you call them "hair bands" back then? I first heard that label long after, in maybe late 90's for the first time.. In Sweden where I grew up in the 80's it was just called "hard rock" officially on the radio. I never liked the term "hair band" since the hair was more a part of the 80's than a specific kind of music... You see variants of that same hair style in all sorts of types of music from the 80's. Synth, pop, rock and metal. In my country you were more or less considered a dork if you had short hair in school during that time.
@@martinsv9183 We called them rock bands, the music industry, critics, and MTV referred to them and others as hair bands (Bon Jovi, Poison, Ratt, Skid Row, Extreme, etc). The industry and critics used that term from the mid 80s until the grunge genre came along in the 90s. I didn't like the term hair band either; and really still don't. In a lot of cases, critics and others focused on the hair rather than the music, which was a shame.
Im 47 so I grew up during their height! And thanks to my parents, i played music and had music all around me. Bon Jovi was MASSIVE!!! So popular! On MTV and the radio all the time. And just pumping out one good song after another. And they always had fun. It was impossible to not like their talent and their energy. It was so much fun to be there for the ride and even better seeing generations today that appreciate their talent. Thanks for sharing your reaction with us. ❤
Several Bon Jovi concerts through the years, they never disappoint! I love that you guys vine to this old music!, thx 😊 “ it’s my life” next! I do have a couple of richies guitar picks Yes very popular band! Many hits!!! They were huge!
Bon Jovi (full name: John Francis Bongiovi Jr. of Italian heritage hence Catholic) is our man from New Jersey. He was an INTERNATIONAL ROCK STAR, well-known internationally. He and his band did countless world tours.
Bon Jovi was one of the TOP hair bands! Def Leopard was another TOP band! The 80's was definitely the best music era's! Of course the progression of the 80's music wouldn't been without the 70's music! R.E.O Speedwagon and Journey were two great "ballads bands"!
Bon Jovi was my favorite band. I loved the long hair and earrings, still do actually. The 80s were a wild ride & the concerts were epic. The bands name ,Bon Jovi, is a play on Johns’ last name, Bongiovi. He’s half Italian. “Lay Your Hands On Me” & “Bed of Roses” are also great songs by Bon Jovi. “Blaze of Glory” is a solo songs written and performed by John for the movie “Young Guns 2”. I don’t know which genres you two want to explore, but I have a few other suggestions. “We Are Love” by il volo (an Italian operatic trio), “Lie To Me” by Jonny Lang, “18 & Life” by Skid Row & “When A Man Loves A Woman” by Michael Bolton. Have fun.
I feel so old.. my oldest son was born in 1988 and my youngest New Year's Eve 1999..I grew up in Hair Band era.. can't go wrong with Bon Jovi, Journey, Poison, Guns n Roses, so many more.
My mom first saw bon jovi live in 1987 and got to see jon bon jovi fly to the back of the arena for the song never say goodbye then flew back during the intro for livin on a prayer live.
I seen Bon Jovi on this tour when i was 12 y/o. The minute he went flying over the audience i fell in love, lol. I just knew he was gonna see me and we'd get married. Great reaction!! 🙂
Bon Jovi was very popular, if you listen to the lyrics, it's really a country music song set to rock rhythms. Livin on a Prayer was my Jam and still is.
They were the 80s, like the no1 band to see, all decade aswell. I'd even see them now and theyre maybe in their 60s now. PS, seriously guys, you2 actually would look like his sons, I've seen a few photos of his eldest. Bon Jovi had hit after hit, literally can't miss on their singles. They have sooo many hits, you'll never be bored listening to them.
Pink does it all the time, she has a big swing and will sing several songs swinging over the crowd on it. She also does acrobatics like the twist ribbons, and you drop to the floor spinning out of the ribbons horizontally.
I was in 7th grade when Slippery When Wet dropped. So many good songs and I still rock out to them today. Bon Jovi had some majestical hair back then, lol. 😄
Yes they were major through the 80's and 90's.still going but not in the charts anymore.charts are ageist. Lots of songs to pick from you give love a bad name, bad medicine, wanted dead or alive, keep the faith, always, bed of roses, ill be there for you, it's my life.jon's song for the film young vuns 2 blaze of glory. Jon bon jovi writes the lyrics and richie sambora the guitarist writes the music.
The concerts from the 80s were incredible. The Go-Go journey, Van Halen since lopper the bangles and Bon Jovi and yes, I was in the audience when they flew and yes, I had hair as long as Bon Jovi and I kind of still have long hair and I still have my ears pierced, you know I was told by somebody when I was young don’t let anybody tell you you shouldn’t listen to that kind of music you shouldn’t wear those clothes you shouldn’t drive that car you shouldn’t eat that food you shouldn’t do anything because of your age just fucking do whatever you want. Life is too short. Love your channel boys.
I loved Bon Jovi, I was I HS when they were very popular! I have a funny story! I went to a concert and bought a T-shirt that had Jon on it, from the shoulders up and I remembered my Dad asking me who the girl was on my shirt! Lol🤣🤣. You guys should do more 80’s hair bands quite a few great ones!👏👏👏
Bon Jovi was one of the hottest tickets in the 80’s and a top 5 band by many in that era. They definitely were my favorite, along with Def Leppard and Van Halen.
I remember seeing Michael Jackson at Wembley Stadium in London around 1988 and during one song he floats upwards and then forwards over the crowd. I was 😮😮 wth!?
This is the original video. I saw this tour in 84. Not 87. 😂. They were good. Cinderella opened for them. Anither great band that Bon Jovi helped get started. A great blues rock band that got jumped in with so called hair bands. I'm 62 and play. guitar in this style and I had long hair, but no hair spray guys. These guys were huge. HIGE!! HUGE...!!! They. had so many hits off this album . ❤ Great stuff guys. ❤
If it was recorded on film, rather than video, then it's pretty easy to clean up, and even upscale. Unfortunaly, it was (and still is) way more expensive, so not too many bands bothered. A really good example of a *CLEAN* recording on film would be Queen - Live in Montreal - Somebody to Love. It was filmed in (I think) 1981, and the quality is still amazing - Apparently there's an IMAX version in some theatres at the moment
Is this Hair metal, pop rock, hair pop, hair pop rock......I don't know it's intersting, but fun. I know, I grew up in the 80's and all the teen girls worshiped Bon Jovi.
If you want to check out some special live performances then take a look at Beth Hart&Joe Bonamassa singing I’d Rather Go Blind and Dire Straits doing the Alchemy Live version of Telegraph Road. Both of them are absolutely phenomenal. Two guitarists in Joe with Beth Hart and Mark Knoffler with dire straits give two of the best guitar performances ever. Don’t miss out on these guys 😊
Yes, we rocked the hair. No, we can't anymore. They banned the ingredients in hairsprays we used. Turns out it was destroying the ozone layer. Sorry about that. Our bad. We didn't know at the time. Bon Jovi was like top of genre at the time. They played the biggest arenas, often multiple shows bc they always sold out.
Nah they were very popular and sold out always. I have been to many of their concerts as their music is great but mainly because yeah the women there 😂 good memories
Audio was better back in the 80s than today lol whoops. Records sounded way better than cds. Hard to explain unless you lived back then. Every generation thinks the past was stone Age lol. Life, music was way better in the 80s than today. I feel for your generation. Hard to understand as it was hard to understand how the 50s was the greatest decade to live in the West for me. In Aust in the 50s, 0% unemployment (more jobs then people) education was free for all, medical was free for all. Your income went further. No stone Age living back then). The highest standard of living ever still to this day for Europeans was the 50s You live in a world today boys that is far worse than it was in the past. Your generation is living in a world where the standard of living is way lower than it was for me and my parents generation. Since the advent of smart phones (2007, yes not that long ago) and the internet you can see a generation of self destruction. Only fans, tic tok (a Chinese spy tool, go do your research) way too much miss information on the internet has a very confused generation. Boys are girls now etc. A very weird confused world you live in boys. I am so very glad my youth was in the 70s and 80s. You guys are awesome, enjoy your day
