Everyone had trench coats. Trench coats were very fashionable in the 80's, made popular by some movies, like the Breakfast Club and music artists from the day. I had a couple different trench coats (black leather and gray fabric). Loved them both. 😀. This isn't the video that was released for MTV. First time I am seeing this video version. I like the video that they made for MTV but this is fun.
Yes, there were kids at my school during the 80’s wearing thin looking long coats. They also wore these elven looking boots. These were the new wave looking kids. Sting wore one also in a video.
1987 lol. A little edgy, but this was as pop / top 40 as those people got. The edgy people were into the Cure, Siouxie and the Banshees, Smiths, Depeche Mode, Modern English etc. Their other hit was "been in love before". The way the previous song " one for the mockingbird" morphs into " been in love", is killer. I recommend playing both together
Everyone in the 80’s was doing music videos because of 24/7 MtV. There were some very creative videos and live performances to see whenever a new song came out. 👵🏼💜✌🏼
THHHIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS is the definition of a power ballad! The writer / singer even remastered this song about 4-5 years ago... and his voice sounds even better now (is it age, experience or just the quality of the recording?!?). No music will ever come close to the late 70's and 80's songs... EVER! Thanks guys for this nice review of an iconic song! 🌺
The thing about the 80's, being a treenager in them, is there was SO MUCh good music across all genres, it could be hard rock, soft rock, pop rock, some rap, country, and the list goes on and it just seems that everybody in their own style made good music. The one hit wonders are second to none. Toni Basil's "Mickey" was probably #1, but dang that "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo rocked, I can't say any of them alaid back or were more laid back, they ALL brought it, it's a freakin' rabbit hole.
There are a ton of great new wave songs from the 80s. Would you guys give a listen to Don’t You Want Me by The Human League, Tainted Love by Soft Cell, Roam by the B52s, and Burning Down the House by the Talking Heads. There are so many, these are just a few great jams. I think if you checked it out, you guys would love the New Wave genre. ❤
Yes there were kids in my high school wearing long coats/trench coats!❤ No one thought it was weird! It was cool! You have to understand that music videos were brand new back in the 80’s, never had anything like it before so all videos were new and cool to us. Obviously some videos were cooler than others but as far as if this video being new by using 1st person imagery, like I said all videos were new to us. Just some were more unique than others. I think the AHA video “Take On Me” was one of the unique videos, at least to me back in the day.
In the era I was growing up in, 70-80's as this music was emerging, we called it "punk rock', I'm sure the term has changed, and it's called something else now, but that was our term for it back then
Hi guys!! New subscriber here :) Today, I'd like to suggest a new song entitled "Dissociation", from the French Canadian Death/Classical Metal project named "Disorientation". This is a lyric video* Thank you for you attention and have a nice day!
You should've reacted to the cooler US video release version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rrJky8YuTr4.html. Don't know why everyone is reacting to the OLD version of the video.
