I remember playing the hell out of this when I went to visit my older cousin during the summer when I was a kid. He would always roast me with thumpers flamethrower special, good times.
man i remember playing this awesome game when i was 6-7 years old. so fun. what a game. games in the back old days were great: like spyro, ratchet and clank games, etc
@@AlexanderVFXFor me, it was the level design, the color palettes, the fantasy skyboxes, the music, and getting to play as a dragon. Loved the original trilogy! Here's your reply six years later 😂
While Twister is the most light armored vehicle, if you know how to drive and handle the Formula 1 car with it's razor sharp handling and super speed, it can be a formable opponent.
TWISTED METAL 2 Character Review Guide - (written by DR-Miller ). [Only play the game on Medium - This is based on my years of exp playing this game when and after it came out for PC back in 1997] RoadKill = Just drive around like a lunatic and try not to die while slinging ammo and flaming boomerangs, use Speed to fight the stronger guys but don't get too cocky. This is one of the most simple characters to use in the game as when your boomerang returns it is NOT deducted from your special counter and remains to be used again unless it hits something. Twister = Use the speed to search for and destroy the smaller and medium sized targets. Use the speed to keep an eye out for Med packs located on the battle field as your weak armour won't be doing enough to protect you from the big vehicles. The special is a double edged sword with pros and cons, but it is very dangerous. Just keep moving unless you wish to pull a suicide stunt and drag other opponents off the edge of a place to their death. Mr.Slam = One of the meanest characters in the game, high HP and high special damage, Use his special and armour to get hold of characters to NOT only slam them but to throw them where you want them to go to, like off the edge of a building in New York. This also works with the bigger guys as well since they slide back after being hit, This guy and other slow ‘strong’ guys are food for Dark Tooth. Axle = What a d*ck on the battle field!!!, when the AI in the PC version was released this guy could pop off his special WHEN he felt like it, fighting Axle is quite the job as this abilities also stem from the "Agro Power" energy blast to actually running over other players (Giant truck axle hello?). I think you get the picture on how to use him. Shadow = This is a very deceptive character to play with, his special is basically a shadow which travels under an opponent and when detonated sends them flying into the air, I think you get an idea of how to use him practically but he is not very fast and a bit of a sitting duck if not always on the move. You might want to learn the mine laying move to make sure no one of the big guys are ‘tailing’ you on a map. SweetTooth = The best thing about this guy is that his dad is DarkTooth. This character is only played against in tournaments unless you unlock him and can select him as an opponent for death matches. His special is weird, unlike his father’s specials which are brutal to say the least, Not much else to say, he is a slow well armoured ice cream truck and has crappy handling and funny homing missiles for his special ability (Let us not forget the red eyes on the front of the model). Minion = He is a tank dude, Do you really need to know how to use this guy’s vehicle to crush others? I think not, He must be unlocked and then you can pretty much dominate anyone in the game and even DarkTooth at the end of the tournament. Hammerhead = My personal favourite from the whole game series, Basically you are a rather ‘small’ monster truck (TM2) with no fucking ability to drive OVER another players vehicle unlike like Axel, Minion or DarkTooth, really frustrating to play with. Basically a big slow truck with an autistic special ability which seems to get you into trouble rather than out of it. (Nice one TM2 developers) OutLaw = Let us get to the point, cops would not enter one of these competitions unless they are undercover and the only one who did that was Grasshopper sent by LAPD I think, Outlaw uses a electro lightning bolt of sorts to hit your vehicle and keeps zapping it until the damage is done, just like a dame Taser, use Outlaw like you use RoadKill. Warthog = This guy is basically a Humvee and his special is 3 rockets that turn into fireballs when they lock onto another characters vehicle, not the most fun and being so medium in size means you will never really be taken seriously on the battle field, poor guy, slow and crappy but still an option. Mr.Grim = You clearly need to be immortal to enter Twisted Metal on a motorcycle but this guy still dies, truly a confusing mix of creativity and science, he is basically food for anyone bigger than him but his big eff off skulls he shoots out for his specials make up for that, still too slow for such a small guy, Keep riding and NEVER stop. GrassHopper = This girl rules!!!, Not only one of the most fun characters to play with but if you use her ability well, no one will be safe, this is basically a sand buggy made of road sign metal that can stop 50 cals until it eventually gives in and she dies, she is also Calypsos’ daughter that was killed in a car crash that ALMOST killed calypso. Thumper = Brutal special ability, flamethrower from hell, Roast the competition with this weapon by simply driving up and face hugging them while you spew flames out of the front. Very easy to win a comp with this guy as his special is short but brutal, especially for motorbike boy. Spectre = This play boy is like road kill but not made of second hand parts, he is a vehicle that fires a special weapon that can go through solid object to hit you, what a prick, Drive fast and play fast to win with this guy. DarkTooth! = NOT a lot is known about the original DarkTooth driver or truck (TM2 / Needles Kane?) but it was from TM2 that DarkTooth first appeared, DarkTooth is NOT a playable character by default for good reasons however he can be unlocked by hacking the game files and changing the vehicle you have in the SAVE SLOT to DarkTooth using either sharkcodes or the pc RegEdit program. This guy is the absolute TOP in TM history, a brutal giant ice cream truck that basically can destroy just about anything in front of it besides the level itself, a psychotic blend of madness and creativity that EVERY player wishes they could play as, it is truly one of the biggest and best vehicles in TM history but also one of the most disappointing ones in TM2 as you can’t play a decent round in him without the game crashing during the match.
did you now there's a comic to this "Twisted Metal 2:The comic which is more depth on calypso story but unfortunately there was only 100 copies made so people dub it "the holy grail"
RIP to my longtime childhood friend little Dave. So many laughs and OH SHIT moments playing the fuck out of this game. Best time of our lives. You will never be forgotten. Thanks for the memories.
I learned recently that Axel technically has two specials, one of them being an infinite Hammerhead-like special. By ramming into people, he does considerable damage, just like Hammerhead. Unlike Hammerhead, he can do this at any time.
Yeah and his special also launches opponents really high, allowing for followup combos (like juggles in fighting games sorta). One of the fastest recharge rates on his special too! i'd say the only stronger characters are Minion & Spectre, and probably not even Spectre in a 1v1 match.
Outlaw 2 is the best in my opinion as well. That tazer kicks ass. I played as her first because my dad used to always play as her. I played it from when I was 9 to when I was 12. I'll have to play it again sometime soon.
Outlaw has been my favorite vehicle,in all of the Twisted Metal Games its been present in,( a close 2nd would be Spectre)and i believe TM2's Outlaw 2 was the best version of the vehicle.
@@hinatatomoe7761 yess I love Outlaw 2 she was definitely the best and her taser was the best in TM2 but twisted metal black is when they screwed up Outlaw. In twisted metal 3 I loved the taser only because if you were near a lot of people it would shock them all but it wasn’t as strong as outlaw 2.
TM2 wast the most FUN psx game for me!!!! So many days wasted with friends, such great memories. This game was epic and beyond its time when it was released. Blowing up eiffel, windmills in holland, secret combo's, good weapons. Akward controls (but effective if u got used to it) typicly for 90's games. Great sounds, cool style (cartoon artwork), dark storry (not every charchter had happy ending. The only thing that kinda sucked even back than where the GFX (but now, its also part and charm of the game) I cant be mad for the GFX, since gameplay and fluidity compensate this hard. TM2 was and still is best battlecar game!
I mained mr fix.amd it was a blast. My favorite memory was on Moscow. And Grasshopper was about to finish me with her specialty. But right as she was mid jump i blasted her with a fireball. I tell you i still remember that perfectly i love this game
+MrDarksword123 Grasshopper and hammerhead were the worst. If you could get people in your tornado it was sick! The car was too fast though, I used to fly past people!
I always liked pressing the shoulder buttons on the character select, and it would choose a random car to show up driving towards you, instead of just sliding off to the side.
I remembered my uncle buying me this game. I was ecstatic when I opened it up and played it for the first time. The lore, the art style, everything about it was so alluring. He'd watch me play whenever he was over, we'd have a great time together as he kinda coached me on what to do. I was terrible at this game lol. One day though I had made it all the way to the end of the game, I was playing as axle but lost to dark tooth on the second fight. I was so close to finally beating this damn game with no cheat codes or anything. He noticed I was down in the dumps so he took me out to get some good to cheer me up. Sadly though he died a few years later. The sad part is he never got to see me beat the game with axle, fair and square with no cheat codes. I wish I still had my copy of the game, just so I can relive those old memories, so I can feel like I have him back even if for a moment.
one of the best games, first time i beat it was using spectre, my overall favorite was shadow, the funnest to use was grasshopper i always lost using her but she was just fun to play 👍
They should do a new twisted metal with every character and their respective car from twisted metal 1 to black. And all the maps from twisted metal 1 to black , redone in HD. And the characters story lines redone but no human acting in the cut scenes. And here's the point to remember, no racing! Just straight up tournaments of death! And maybe throw in some cool new unlockables. Now I would gladly spend 100$ for the game Twisted Metal : Carnage
hi, when I get to the start menu of twisted metal 2, my keyboard cant select anything. my mouse can cursor over the 1st player, multi player, and options menu but I cant select any of them. does this work with a mouse and keyboard or no? ty
