2nd Performance to use the "neon crosses" set (other being New Order's Blue Monday), the neon crosses were sort of a precursor to the neon boxes set that followed (which was introduced for the 1000th show and used for most of the '80s with slight modifications).
@@chiripa8831 BBC Television Centre, they did the show from there since 1966 and then from the larger Studio G at Lime Grove Studios in mid-66. Then they moved to TVC permanently with the move to colour in November 69.
top of the pops demanded all acts mime to tracks. it was a real challenge for metal bands and only a few were able to argue the point of playing live. I think Iron maiden did it with running free but had to be really quiet. ZZ top also played live and had to go through a pissy little dirty amplifier so they werent too loud
