Twister Puzzle Dog Toy // Toy Review (Nina Ottosson) 

Thanks for the review! I am looking at buying this one. I have seen a tip that tying a piece of rope or material to the while handles helps the dog understand and be able to complete the puzzle. That is my plan for my guy if he has trouble.

We're new to the world of dog puzzles and this is our 1st puzzle. My 10 year old furkid got the hang of this pretty fast. We've since bought a few more Outward Hound Dog Puzzles. I feed 1 of his meals (semi-wet raw diet) in this puzzle and I love how easy it is to dismantle and clean! Like you, I'm having a difficult time trying to get my furkid to master the concept of the locks. While it's a great confidence booster for him to go thru this puzzle fast, I can't help but feel it doesn't offer enough challenge for him if we don't progress to Level 3 with the locks. I've tried tying ropes as suggested by Nina Ottosson herself, but my furkid doesn't know he needs to pull it. He's too interested in sniffing the food scent in the puzzle to bother with the ropes 😅 So now I'm on a mission to train him to pull the ropes. I feel the other models like the Dog Worker and even the Level 4 Multi-puzzle offers a more varied type of play for a beginner like him. I just have to make it less challenging for him and go step by step in introducing the new skills needed. And because the skills needed for the Dog Worker and the Multi-puzzle are instinctive to him (pawing and nosing) he actually mastered playing those puzzles (set to the easier level) within 2 days while he's still unable to understand the concept of the locks on the Dog Twister.
