I'm so sad that I haven't gotten to see this movie in the theater but I'm glad I got to see it with y'all reaction which gave me the same vibes as always....the subtle easter eggs & homages & recreating certain memorable props & scenes from the first one in a new way is amazing cus it was so respectful
@MediaKnights Guys, hello. How about watching some French movies? Like: "Vidocq" aka "Dark Portals: The Chronicles of Vidocq"(mystery\detective film), "District 13"(Parkour\Action film written and produced by Luc Besson and directed by Pierre Morel) or "Taxi" - small phenomenon back in time it was released (action comedy film written by Luc Besson and directed by Gerard Pires) for example
@@OfficialMediaKnights Yeah, if I remember my information correctly, he apparently asked to have a part in the movie as tribute to his dad, so the producers and directors were nice enough to give him a part! I thought it was super sweet.
Such A Cool Fun Fact: The only person from OG Twister to appear in this movie is the lady sitting next to Glen Powell at the rodeo. That lady played Jo’s mom. She showed up to just be an extra in the rodeo scene. When someone from the crew found out, they told Glen Powell and he pulled her out of the crowd so she could sit next to him for that scene. Frickin’ love that!
As an actual storm chaser this is the most accurate Hollywood depiction of storm chasing. They had to take artistic liberties with some things (it is a movie after all), but still stayed mostly accurate to the real world thing.
@@ZukoHalliwell I do not. The amount of liability I'd be taking on as the chaser would be ridiculous. Your best bet would be to look into the storm chasing tours that head out every spring. Although I will warn you, they can be quite expensive
@@OfficialMediaKnightsI have a question for the both of you since you reacted in 1990 Godzilla movie. Could you react to this 2000 in 1 cartoon? That's a sequel, do it. It is called Godzilla. The animated series, it is a good recommendation and I would like you both to check it out and could you ask your editor if he could do this?
@@OfficialMediaKnightsI would very much like you to react to this animated series from 2001.It is a sequel to Godzilla the 1990 movie. And could you ask your editor if you could react to the series
I was the Visualization Supervisor on Twisters. We help to rewrite, design and animate the action sequences before they film them. This was such a fun film to work on. Isaac was an awesome director to collaborate with. He was all about the best idea wins. It's so fun to see you both enjoying it!
You guys did a phenomenal job with the film. Glad to hear working with Lee Isaac Chung was a great collaborative process. Can’t wait to see what you do next!
@@sugarbomb1346 sadly the actress who played jo aunt passed away a few years ago. BUT the actress who played jo mom is the woman sitting next to glens.
Daisy Edgar-Jones has easily become my favorite up-and-coming actress. She was great in 'Where the Crawdads Sing,' but I thought she was spectacular in the Hulu series 'Normal People.' Also, Glen Powell is so damn good having chemistry with all his female costars. I'm hoping there's a sequel because these movies are just pure mindless fun.
I'm from Oklahoma and this was partly filmed in my town. I've seen more than one f5 tornado. A mile wide damaged path where even the grass was gone. No grass, trees, houses, all gone. A mile wide and it stayed on the ground for about 30 miles. Everything just gone.
@@danieldoesdumbstuff Chickasha is where I'm from. The Moore tornado that started at Chickasha and took out Bridge Creek went right over our house right before it touched down.
As an Okie I was both excited and skeptical at the notion of another movie. I saw it with my wife at the Winchester (IYKYK) last weekend and I was beyond impressed with it. I can say we Okies have a much better understanding of tornadoes than they let on, even just everyday farmers and blue collar folks know the basics about them. Our warning systems are far more advanced than they depict as well, though it is true that there is still a ton we don't know about tornadoes. A lot of the science is flawed for movie purposes, but that didn't bug me. It made for some cool visuals and effects. Plus, the original Twister did the same thing just to a lesser degree. I love that the movie isn't an actual sequel. They don't acknowledge the events of the first movie or mention any of the characters, they just have small Easter eggs like Dorothy, Kate wearing the same outfit as Joe (cargo pants, tank top, jacket around waist) for part of the movie, etc. It's more like someone just said "Here's what I'd have done if I wrote Twister", and it came out amazing. Overall this Okie loved the movie and could easily overlook any science issues because the story and action were really good. Not that my opinion actually matters, but it gets a thumbs up from me. 👍
@@jabronijoeoutdoors This fact was one of the reasons I didn’t like how the main characters felt they had to tell all of the local citizens what to do. I sat there thinking that everyone at the rodeo or in the town at the end would know exactly what to do without these outsiders giving them instructions.
Yeah the biggest unrealistic parts (besides some of the science) was how little warning there was, especially for the rodeo EF4. A tornado that large and strong would have been warned dozens of minutes earlier (unless your NWS office is North Platte).
Fun fact: when talking about his first tornado he's seen as a child, Glen actually incorporated his real childhood story. Also, I remember reading somewhere, that during the scene, where the Wranglers are helping the townsfolk who were struck by the tornado, only part of the set was built, the other part was real, actual tornado damage.
I can’t speak for all the scenes used but they filmed some cleanup scenes in the town I live in. Literally 20 feet from my house. They built like 3-5 houses. Just the shell of a house essentially. So they could destroy them. And they just decorated the actual houses around here with debris, including my house and yard.
You know, I actually found it rather refreshing that there wasn't a "kiss" at the end. It was kind of interesting to focus more on the story than the romance for a change. 🤷
Unfortunately, like both Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothee Chalamet, Glen Powell has sworn off superhero movies, though, I think he has said he’ll do one IF the right script hits his desk.
I loved the Easter eggs. The tornado at night was a call back to the drive in tornado in the first film. The main character even dressed just like Joe in that part as well. The “we got twins” reference to “we got sisters” in the first film. The Superman dude is just like Jonas in the first film. Love it!
Interesting fact, the man complaining at the motel, the one who got in the truck with his girlfriend and sucked into the night tornado, was played by James Paxton, Bill Paxton’s son
Twister is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I went into this prepared to judge it in comparison, but by the end I was impressed. I just sat there thinking "They did it! They actually did it!" A great bookend to the original.
Yes but she didn't want to come back. I think Kate was originally supposed to be their daughter. Her character is shown to be a mix of both jo and bill from the original.
@@paupau2587there is an interview with Helen hunt saying she couldn't even get an interview with the director he even said he didn't want to cast Helen hunt I just watched a video
As a tornado enthusiast, I LOVED this movie partially because of all the real-life references. My personal favorites were: - the EF5 at the beginning acting pretty much exactly as the 2011 Joplin EF5 did, rain-wrapped mile-wide funnel and all - the overpass referencing the Moore-Bridge Creek EF5, the reason we know overpasses are glorified wind tunnels (not-so-fun fact: the shadows of people who attempted to hide under a particular overpass can still be seen to this day) - and last but not least, the final EF5 which struck the town of El Reno (which in real life was nearly subject to devastation like that. 2013 saw a **2.6-mile-wide** tornado track south of the town and barely miss it. It was officially rated an EF3, but likely would have been rated EF5 had it hit El Reno proper as the one in the movie did.) I highly recommend researching all three of these, as well as the lesser-known El Reno-Piedmont of 2011 and the infamous Tri-State Tornado (which took exactly as long a path as its name implies). All very interesting reads.
Every reference to real life events that I could find 1. Sheltering under the overpass with a few of them dying is reference to the May 3rd 1999 Moore Oklahoma F5 (strongest ever) when 4 people did the same thing and didn't survive because of it. 2. The tornado Tyler says he saw for the first time with his aunt was actually the 1997 Jarrell Texas F5 (that thing was a horror story), which Glen Powell actually saw in real life. 3. In the credits it shows a picture of the map of the path of the 1947 Woodward Oklahoma F5 4. Taking shelter in a theater at the end of the movie is a reference to the 2013 Moore Oklahoma (same city, don't go there) EF5 that scraped the Warren Theater with people inside. The same theater actually showed Twisters and Reed Timmer himself saw it there 5. The entire character of Tyler Owen's with the RU-vid channel and tornado intercepting is loosely based off of Reed Timmer and the Dominator 3 (tornado intercept vehicle). 6. The town at the end of the movie that almost gets hit is El Reno Oklahoma. In 2013, what's called the El Reno tornado (never actually hit town) became the widest on record at 2.6 miles wide, and 300mph+ winds. It killed 4 storm chasers, the first ever deaths in storm chasing. Including El Reno was a callback to that 7. The whole insurance taking advantage of people thing could actually refer to (in addition to buying their land for cheap like in the movie) the theory that insurance is the reason no tornado has been rated EF5 since 2013, because it means the companies don't have to pay as much. (There have been EF5 tornadoes since then, they were just rated EF4). 8. One of the first pictures shown in the credits used to be considered the first ever tornado photo, however it actually ended up being fake. 9. Because this likely takes place around 2013, with the final tornado probably being a sort of alternate version of the real El Reno tornado, it can be assumed that the comment about tornadoes becoming more and more frequent probably refers to the April 27th, 2011 Super Outbreak which had 200 in one day. Which was actually mostly in Alabama. 10. A deadly rainwrapped EF5 that wasn't really expected is likely a reference to the 2011 Joplin EF5, which I'm sure most have heard of. 11. From the opening scene, the shot out the back of the truck as they speed away is extremely similar to real footage from the 2023 Matador Texas EF3 (it was EF5 strength) with a slightly obscured tornado appearing to almost chase the vehicle directly behind with power flashes and everything 12. Although it occurred after they were (probably) done making the shot, the scene with the wind turbines snapping off and collapsing is very similar to the recent (2024) Greenfield Iowa EF4 (it had winds near 300mph, it was easy EF5), where Reed Timmer captured footage of wind turbines being shredded. The final movie cut of that scene looks slightly different from the trailer, meaning they probably modified it after that footage happened. 13. This may be a bit of a stretch but there is a line about a completely unwarned tornado hitting a small town. This could potentially be a reference to the 1990 Plainfield F5, which was completely unwarned and there aren't even any pictures of it happening. This may be even more of a stretch, but it could also refer to the "North Platte incident" from a few months ago when (a very low risk day but still) the most classic looking supercell ever was obviously on the ground, with a massive debris ball on radar and estimated velocities several hundred feet up at almost 200mph, and yet the NWS of North Platte just ignored it, not issuing even a regular warning until 15 minutes after it was obviously strong and just barely missed a town. It was strong enough to warrant a tornado emergency or at least PDS but they said nah and could've killed people. 14. Tyler using the money he earns to give out free stuff in the immediate aftermath is probably also a reference to people like Ryan Hall (does live outbreak coverage) who raise money during those streams and donate thousands to those people
I love that the credits had historical images and so forth from some of the biggest outbreaks of tornados. I love weather facts and whatnot, (I'm writing a novel involving tornadoes) so to see that in the credits was amazing. I enjoyed this movie so much!
Saw both this and the original in the theaters. I grew up in the midwest and experienced an F3 that destroyed half my neighborhood. Scenes in both movies still give me chills and flashbacks, even though we got lucky. You guys should do an honest reaction to the real-time documentary about Joplin, Mo.
This was a fun experience in theaters! My favorite part was the Frankenstein clip "IT'S ALIVE!" and the screen gets ripped to shreds. A nice little nod to the drive-in scene.
I saw the OG Twister in 1996 it was a 15 and I had just turned 15 and felt so grown up going to see it. I never go to the cinema but I prebooked to see this on the first showing on release day at the same cinema I saw the OG one. I'm so glad I did, the sound design was amazing.
I was very suprised by how great this film was. The original movie is one of my favourite films of all time. So when I first heard about this. I thought it was gonna suck. So i went to the cinema last month. And i was actually blown away (pun intended) by how good it was. A solid sequel which is very rare these days.
As someone who spent my childhood in Kansas this movie hit home because our town had storm that could cause as much damage as a tornado, though thankfully had one directly hit us. So I loved that as exciting as it is to chase storms they still showed how bad the aftermath is for people who lose their homes and even their lives. And for people who never lived in tornado alley, no it’s not something they made up for the movie, it’s 100% true that you can learn to smell and even feel when storms are coming because of how much the air changes.
I watched it in 4Dx and I knew exactly how the reporter felt when the car was in the tornado. My seat was shaking and moving like a freaking roller coaster but there was no safety belt 😂
The gasp when I got this notification!! Loved this movie when I saw it in the cinema and it was great to watch again with you guys! The effects, the chemistry/banter and the creative tornados made this my favourite film of the year as someone who is a massive fan of the OG
This is one of my new favorite movies! From the nods to the originals to the music and the story line. The soundtrack is fantastic and has been on repeat! I do hate they didn’t add the kiss but it’s still such a good arc. You should watch the press interviews and things with the cast. SO good!! Such a family vibe instead of just castmates.
I am SO glad you guys watched this movie. I am a huge fan of the first movie, having seen it countless times now. I made a point of seeing Twisters in the theater. And now I'm a huge fan of Twisters as well. This was an amazing movie when seen in a theater, on the big screen. This movie, the Dolby sound system, over priced buttered popcorn and soft drink, and Kate's her-oism during the climatic scene, charging into the tornado as a whole theater of Twister fans cheered her on, made $30 well spent fun.
Man, you guys posting this video…the storms happening here in Nebraska…makin’ me regret not following through with my storm chaser dreams. (Last week we had a storm pass through here in Omaha that knocked out power for a week-trees down, out buildings down…117mph winds in my area). Almost went to University of Oklahoma to get the fun started. Y’know they’ve got a vehicle called the TIV-tornado interceptor vehicle-that they’ll roll straight into the path and it will lower down, drill into the ground and anchor there while the tornado passes over to get readings. That would be a wild time!
Kate losing all of her team members is in memoriam of storm chaser Tim Samaras, his son Paul, and Carl Young, who were killed in the El Reno Oklahoma tornado in May 2013
Tornado fact... In 2013 El Reno was hit by a tornado that was 2.6 miles wide, and had wind speeds of 313 mph. Mike Bettes from the Weather Channel was with his team out there, and his vehicle got thrown and rolled. The camera they were filming with was flung from the vehicle and recorded the suv rolling. This tornado also killed storm chasers Tim and Paul Samaras, and Chris Young.
Wow, you guys got to this one fast lol. Loved this sequel, it was the right approach to allow this film to be it's own thing without being connected to the original, except for the cameo by Dorothy that is.
Going into the theater I wasn't sure what to fully expect from this movie. It's difficult to recapture what the original cast had..... I think this movie does a better job of making you really feel for the people who have been killed and the people who have survived tornados. I appreciated that additional focus of this film. I also like how they subverted the audiences expectations in having Kate slowly reach the realization that she was the one working on the "wrong" team..... but then having Javi also succumb to his conscience and do the right thing by the end of the movie, as well. It was nice seeing the character growth throughout the course of the movie which allowed me to fully enjoy the movie without having to compare it with the original movie as I was watching it. I watched it again this morning, and had to take several breaks throughout..... at the theater you really can't stop to reflect on what you're seeing, but at home, some of it hits a bit harder because you can pause it to "catch your breath" so-to-speak. Thus, it was fresh in my mind while watching your reaction, and I really did like your reaction to the movie.
I’ve watched this in theaters and that was a really great experience. The movie isn’t out yet digitally in the netherlands but as soon it is then i will check out your full reaction of the movie. I’m really glad you decided to watch so many disaster movies they are always fun to watch and i cannot wait for your reaction to Dante’s peak because that is my favorite disaster movie❤
I just rewatched your reaction after watching the movie again, and something you said near the end made me realize something. You joked about a tornado starting to form in the background at the airport..... and it struck me that both Jo in Twister and Kate in Twisters are actually quite jinxed. Wherever they go tornados follow; thus it's probably best to stay away from them if you're looking to survive tornados. I'd be like, "where are you going?" and then go the opposite direction...... and live nowhere near either of them. LOL
Talking of not disappointing, this reaction sure didn’t disappoint! 😄😄😄 I’ve seen this twice in theaters it’s that good, in fact I liked it just as much if not more than the original. Love what you said that this was truly a spiritual sequel. It felt like a second Twister movie but it also very much stood on its own. It exceeded my expectations. 👏
1) Gotta give more love to Anthony Ramos. He had a complicated character and a thankless role to play as the “platonic friend” (there were vibes, at least on his end, at least until the movie decided that Glen Powell is the love interest) & villain red herring. 2) It’s crazy how the tornadoes in the sequel were so much bigger and more destructive than they were 30 years ago. It’s almost like the climate has changed during that time…
Anthony Ramos also killed it! Love the vulnerability he brings to his characters. Even though we barely got enough for character development he did the most with what he got and gave us a pretty dimensional character ❤️
Good movie. Just wish they had linked the story and characters of this film to the original 1996 version somehow. Otherwise, it is a well crafted and entertaining film.
I love Daisy Edgar-Jones I feel like she’s such a good actress, I don’t know if y’all have watch where the crawdads sings but highly suggest watching it. She’s really good in that, also I’ve seen her in Fresh and also Under the Banner of Heaven, and I fell in love with her acting!
I consider my self as a meteorologist, I’ve been studying weather since I survived a monster ef4 in Lawrence Kansas, I guess I took a bad situation into something to do with my life. I absolutely recommend this movie. It’s awesome. Thanks for reacting! 💕
The final town in the movie was filmed in my hometown! They used our downtown area, and also the water tower is not in that location AT ALL. It’s actually nearly 3 miles away from where it’s placed in the film. Loved this thrill ride!
I watched this in theaters and I didn't expect to like it and enjoy it as much as I did 😂😂 I thought my ears were deceiving me when I heard Don Omar of all people in this movie. Salió el Sol is a bop!
Geo-engineering programming is what this movie is. If you don't think they are deliberately altering the weather, you are asleep. Only been doing it for about 100 years now, but now it's starting to hit mainstream. Movies are a great way to make you accept that it's a great idea!
@IloveTWST you can do a Google image search for Tim Samaras or TWISTEX. If I remember correctly, the engine of the car was found a quarter mile away from the wreck
I currently live in NW Oklahoma where you would find so many windmills like in this movie but, was raised in Moore, Oklahoma. I'm sure you have heard of the "luck" we have had with repeated tornados. Lol. I also work for a utility company so, I've worked multiple tornados after thy have passed. These twister movies are more realistic than you might expect. Love this movie! Keep it up, ya'll!!
I live in Alabama and On April 27, 2011, Alabama was hit by 62 tornadoes across the state and 29 confirmed tornadoes in Central Alabama during 18 hours period. It was the largest tornado outbreak in US history. The tornadoes caused catastrophic damage, killing at least 250 people and injuring many more.
At 44:34, that, it's what we call a "money shot". A sequence where filmakers put the most CGI and they show it at Comic Cons or during trailers to impress...and that one...oh Lord that's stunning !
Saw this at the theaters last month with my parents and LOVED IT!! So worth the 28 years wait for it since the first movie. And now I’m starting to become a Glen Powell fan because of this film😅. The only thing I have a question about is even if their idea to collapse a tornado is possible, wouldn’t that cause a chain reaction for an even bigger natural disaster to occur? I mean all of that energy has to go somewhere 🤔 And you are SOOO RIGHT, Universal NEEDS to bring back the ride!!!
Hi Ari and Denise, What a surprise to watch your reaction to the twisters, Your reaction is the best to this movie🌪🌪🌪 I'm happy to watch your reaction to this movie and the other twister movie you already did. Bill will be so proud of this movie if he was still alive😢❤ I love the song ain't no in Oklahoma by Luke combs, He made the song for this movie, He even made a music video a few months ago singing the song with the scenes of this movie you should look it up and react to his music video. I heard in the beginning of the video you're gonna be soon watching day after tomorrow, can't wait for that reaction soon🥰
I highly enjoyed this movie! Makes me want a Ram truck haha. A lot of real-life storm chasers are background extras. So many cool personal touches in this flick. I give it 7.5 out of 10.
I watched the movie today in 4Dx (appearantly). The shaking seats, wind bursts and moisture drops made for an incredibly fun and immersive experience during the tornado scenes.
This was a great addition to the twister franchise. Only found your channel recently and have binged all your film reactions. You should watch Kingsman: the secret service. I think you’d enjoy it. Hello from Ireland.
LITERALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCHHHH!! i’ve seen it multiple times since it came out, and there are so many amazing parts to it, including the soundtrack and daisy/glen as the leads! i wish it didn’t come to DVD/streaming so soon, but i’m glad to see you guys watching it!! 🤍🤍
Hi guys these are some malayalam(An indian language) movie recommendations: •Kurup •Minnal murali •Goat life •Lucifer • Home •Drishyam 1, 2 •Manjummel boys • 2018 •Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea
They did such a great job with the opening having us feel the pain and sense of loss that Kate felt. Very close to the beginning of the first film with seeing Jo's dad die. I would also recommend 2012 after watching The Day After Tomorrow.
I loved y’alls reaction to this movie! 💗 this movie was perfectly made! Y’all should watch the Tuscaloosa and Joplin tornado alley documentary , it’s crazy how many similarities there are compared to the movie I’m wondering how much they took from the Tuscaloosa/joplin and Oklahoma events in 2011 (it was a EF5)😢 I don’t know if im the only one but a lot of what happened in the movie makes me think of that.. RIP to the 321 souls that lost their lives✨
This movie is amazing and very accurate in much of what is portrayed. The stormchaser Reed Timmer even gave his approval on it. The character of Tyler Owens is based off of Reed, who has vehicles called Dominators that he uses to intercept, anchor down, and get scientific data from tornadoes. You should really check out his videos! From a storm chaser ❤
