I'm 46, a very new Babymetal fan and I've been doing a deep dive the last few months and I love it all! Really hoping they come to the states. They are a must see bucketlist band for sure! I'm loving this new sound too! Yes it's very different, and thats ok! Anybody who disagrees, as long as they're respectful about it, ok. But anyone who tries to insult them for going a new direction? Guess what they are evolving and they are grown ups now, and you should be one too!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 When I heard "Divine Attack" a month ealier, I thought "We (BM fans) all know this is just one of their various faces that we are going to witness from now on. Let's not be judgmental in haste." This second song has proved it, but in a more drastic way than I expected. Su's matured but pure voice resonates with the bones in my whole body like No Rain No Rainbow did. Yielding myself to the resonance, I am now pondering on what the implication of the lyric is. "Ragnarok" is known as "Twilight of the Gods". Then Su sings "No matter how long the night, the morning will arrive". I feel some universal thing that BABYMETAL is praying for.
Great reaction. 'Monochrome' is a beautiful song - but it is deep too. They never put out a lyric video before, I'm thinking they really want us to know what they are singing so we can decide what the song means (as ever it is open to interpretation of course and we will all have our own thoughts, which is not a bad thing) ... and you're right, the visuals on lyric videos are never like this, these mean something too. From my starting point of almost complete ignorance I have been learning so much from comments under other reactions about Ragnarok and the Norse mythology being referenced and the general consensus is there are also many references to the bombing of Hiroshima (Su-metal's home town) and Nagasaki, even if it is not specifically about those tragic events. The "monochrome firework" could be the bomb and the tree they used in the visuals throughout and that was finally shown in colour at the end could be the Hiroshima Peace Tree that survived the bombing as well as the tree of life from Norse mythology. As ever BABYMETAL do leave us with a feeling of hope and optimism and the message that no matter how long the night, the morning will still come. Colour will return to the world.
It is specifically about Hiroshima. The image of a flash and blast wave over an intact city then images of a ruined city. A mushroom cloud which fades to waves in a puddle of water.
Everyone has their own interpretation of the song. In reality, there are painful things like wars, disasters, and pandemics that rob the world of its beautiful colors. But this song is about bringing back the beautiful colors, starting with us! I feel the positivity of the song 😁. I like the fact that it doesn't deny or criticize anyone. I am looking forward to seeing the one and only new BABYMETAL next year when these songs will be performed in concert. It will be HEAVY METAL if you listen to them, HAPPY METAL if you watch them, and I will be so happy if I can witness in real time the completion of a worldview that only they can create 😭.
When I heard Su's voice in the previous single "Divine Attack" for the first time after such a long time, it took less than three words until the tears started to flow. It's simply the most beautiful sound in the. world.
She did such a fantastic job!! I've seen people mention Su being credited as a writer for Divine Attack and I'm blown away. I hope she gets to contribute to more future songs. They truly are so incredibly talented!

This song is so beautiful, so deep, so sad yet so positive in the end, the more I listen to this, the more I love it. And notice new details, as in the end the "monochrome firework", the bomb, slide away on the edge of something in the shape of an umbrella ☂️, so probably it is indeed a symbol of hope as a shield against war. 🤘🏻🦊⚡

Kit Kat°, a Japanese keen youTube viewer commented recently somewhere that at the very end of Su’s singing in Monochrome, it sounded to him “笑って、由結 : Waratte, Yui : Just Smile, Yui”(!!!). Carrying out my first replication trial, I felt like I actually heard as “Waratte, Yui”, though the “Yui” was almost subliminal level, and I couldn’t tell as to whether this was Su’s voice or noise like guitar sounds, or just I was hearing things. One of KOBAMETAL’s tactics? A very personal message in a universal issue scale song!? This reminded me of the famous “Hey Yui case”. There was some debate as to whether Su-Metal had sung Yui instead of Lady in the beginning part of Elevator Girl in the 2018 Tabernacle（Atlanta) live : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XtD9-ye_WQU.html I certainly heard “Yui” for which I guessed as the reflection of Su’s (and also Moa’s) concern for Yui at her hard time. Su really being herself amazing, her voice, he songs, really is amazing, I am so eternity proud with her. I guess, she is no longer a Queen, she is now a Goddess.

Hi, just found your channel and I love your reaction to this. Su herself comes from Hiroshima, one of the two cities in Japan which received the atomic bomb. This song was inspired by that event, and the imagery in the video reflects that.
It took me a few watches and reading through people's comments to start noticing all the details in the songs/videos. I didn't realize just how deep they were at the time of reacting, but now have an even greater appreciation for the songs knowing how personal they are to the band. Very beautifully written songs! It took me a few listens (or watches of the lyric video) to understand that meaning, but that's usually how it goes for me with songs and their meanings. I usually pay attention the instrumentals first before processing lyrics. It's a great song!
I've listened to every single BabyMetal song and seen ever live performance on YT atm. I've actually seen them live twice! I've been a huge fan for about 8/9ish years. 😅 But I for sure will be reacting to any new songs they put out going forward!
