She was 19 here, and it's a fact she wrote this at 11/12. She did three song at this huge event. A lovely cover of Oasis "Half the world Away, and the really amazing one "Murder Song," which is an epic performance. So Murder Song will be a great choice. The world and the music industry needs Aurora!!

You're absolutely correct about the gestures releasing tension. She's said almost those exact words in an interview. She used to be really uncomfortable standing in front of a crowd, so she tried to stand as still as possible, but it caused her so much tension that her body physically shook and performing really drained her energy.

Some people have a great voice, some have fantastic performance skills and some write brilliant lyrics. This petite powerhouse does all three. Don't compare her to Bjork or anyone else, she is unique. Who else at age 19 would perform a song, written at age 12 at such a prestigious event barefoot and on tip toes? At the press conference for the Nobel concert Aurora was a little intimidated by all the important and famous people involved, so she took a pine cone with her to help her focus on what is important. Four things for you to do 1/ Take a look at "Through The Eyes Of A Child" from the Nidarosdomen concert (Cathedral in Trondheim) from 2017. 2/ "The Seed" from the HAIK concert for Norwegian TV in 2019, filmed in the forest where Aurora played in her childhood. 3/ "Conqueror" live from the Honda Stage to see her interact with the audience in a more informal setting and smile and dance joyfully. 4/ Look at some interview clips to see the person behind the talent, she is thoughtful, wise, intelligent, cheeky, playful, witty, funny, honest and quirky. These will help you see the evolution of an important artist and a fantastic human being. Put everything together and she is the real deal. In her song "Daydreamer", Aurora says "I know I'm just a girl but can I change lives?", for the growing legion of her devoted fans the answer is a most emphatic YES!!

She says she wrote this when she was 11 or 12 which is amazing on many levels if true. Who at that age reflects back to when they were younger (7 in the song) and learning about running away and learning a lesson about the importance of home? And being able to put that into song in a way that is great without the qualification of "for a child". Also Billie Eilish says stumbling across this song on youtube is what inspired her to make music seriously

About the hand movements, she said in an interview that they are involuntary, when she watches her lives, she is like "wow, am I having a seizure or something" :D When you watch enough of her lives, you can actually distinguish between her natural movements vs choreographed ones.

I would not over analyze the movements. She just becomes so invested in the emotion of a song that she can't get it all out with just the vocals. The movements are an extension of that investment. And yes, she is as free a spirit as you will ever come across. The inhibitions of "do I look cool" is not part of her psyche so she is able to move how she feels absent such consideration. Her movement, like everything associated with Aurora, is honest. Where Beyonce or Katy Perry are posing with primary consideration of what they look like, Aurora could not care less. Her movement is an extension of what she is feeling and what she wants to get across to the audience.

To really understand aurora you have to look at her childhood,picture the lakes and forests of Norway as her playground and you can see how nature(Mother Earth) is so important to her and then add in the fact that as a child growing up her family never had a TV or radio,only an record player where she listened to Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohan both great wordsmiths in the art of music,it's then you can start to understand what makes this girl become the amazing artist she is today,and to think at the age of 6 she found an old Brocken piano and taught herself to play without being able to read music is astonishing,to then at the age of 9 write a song called Lucky which you must listen to its a masterpiece and by the age of 16 have enough songs for her first album.(all my demons greeting as a friend )WOW! She is so special,for me she is a GENIUS .As a lover of music all of my life, like most of you we all have at times enjoyed certain artists,the reasons for this can be many fold,but I can honestly say that at this moment in my journey no one has touched my emotions or moved me like this young artist from Norway and there is a reason for her to have a huge fan base all over the world. She is such a great songwriter, singer and performer - for me there is a unique quality to her voice and the way she expresses her feelings in every word she sings is a quality that not many singers have She is not mainstream as she has created her own genre, and therefore she is not topping any charts. But that is not what aurora is about she has never craved for that she is a child of the earth and so grounded in what she believes in .So for me a musical journey with Aurora is a journey with meaningful lyrics and comforting vocals that makes you ask yourself questions and think more deeply about the kind of world we want to live in,for someone so young to write and produce songs plus produce all her own videos is outstanding.yes Aurora is a Genius.

I think she’s moving because she’s in another world like she’s in a different place like look at her reaction at the end she looks intense and I think that she forgot about she was on stage and she just came back into this world

She is on the spectrum which explains her hand movements and her standing on her tip toes, and being barefoot for tactile reasons. In the Haik video, she talks about her autism but says her parents never put a label on her. I'm only mentioning this because of how people like to criticize her regarding her "hand and body movements". They are definitely 100% her authentic self and she absolutely gets lost in her music. She is a beautiful soul and this world is lucky to have such an angel.

Loooooove Aurora!! Nice pick from the community 🙂 What was the other Aurora one? Murder Song from this concert, God is a woman cover, and Helvegen with Wardruna would all be excellent next listens. Re: Björk, I would say they have similar... eccentricities (?) musically, though not similar voices. Aurora is a little more accessible I think. Björk is a bit much/too complex for some.

I know this is old but just found it with an Aurora search. Anyway, this is an example of how streamers often fail to entertain with RU-vid. Rather than react to the video, they watching their own stream chat, and as a decade long watcher of reactions (tv, film, music, culture), it's just cringe.
