I was testing jt yesterday and iirc, ferry can punish bionic arm if she spotdodges it. But well, she kinda has to not be doing anything or whatever she does will be crushed or punished
if only it really worked that way, But it aint. Kimberly does have some problems but I dont know who was smoking what saying Grimnir is not good but I want in on that sht seems really potent xD Metera just took an offline tournament (dreamhack) , Doesnt change the fact that she is kinda strugelling, Compared to Grimnir who I would say doesn't struggles at all maybe only in a few mu like Nier but Nier is just strong in general.
He is not top tier but he is strong. Characters don't need to be top tier to be strong. I enjoy playing him a lot and only struggle in very few mu's. And those are ok because a character is supposed to have a weakness. Again unless its Nier, She just steam rolls people with no consideration to anything what so ever. But she beats all the cast up so I wouldnt even say its that special to Grimnir.@@_VinSi
Its crazy to me that anyone would consider grimnir bottom tier when he has something very rare for a granblue chara- unreactable 50 50 mixup in the corner that leads to fat damage- on top of an excellent fireball and the flexibility provided by his unique mechanic.
slight devil's advocate here, but brave counter is really really good at making mix like that matter a lot less in this game, even with a limited set of em
@@hunterpie7965 Fair point and its definitely the best answer to it, but seems like that should apply to Zeta too who benefits a lot from similar unusual real oki mixup and is considered top tier
@@hunterpie7965I’m willing to say making the enemy use BP for this in itself is an advantage, they have to pay the resource tax to reliably live and every BP used means the next hit is gonna hurt way more
Hey Mr. Phone, just wanted to say that I came to your channel for the original GBVS and have been an avid viewer since then. It's been super hype to finally have this game back. Thanks for doing what you do! Your waifu presentation was also very inspirational and I truly hope we can see the day where more waifus are put into fighting games, for the sake of a better future.
Looool. He’s a lot harder than most of the cast to learn, and unlike nier you can’t just slop your way to victory. Just use the right coping mechanism 🙏
When you're new your character really doesn't matter, everything is going to be difficult because you're not used to it. Like I'm playing Yuel and Siegfried currently and one of those characters has to play like a crackhead and the other does 40% from ch far H into 4S. I win more with Sieg but realistically I'm probably about equally skilled i.e. not very. Just give it time
I definitely don't think Grimnir is trash but I do think his buttons could be better for a guy with a Phat Spear. At the same time seeing what he can do if he gets rolling, I think his neutral is what it is because otherwise he would be busted lmao He's brand new and clearly not very easy to play but people writing him off already, smh.
@@DiaphoneI diiid figure anre would be not popular haha.. I do really like him and I intend to try him out more. And that's fair take for Bubs. That 55U is such a silly move. Mostly knowledge check more than anything.
I really don't know why someone would put Grimnir in bottom tier, this character is crazy good, just need some training. Also, do you have plans on Yuel? I currently trying her. i'm fighting for my life and i can't get wins consistently, even if i got the frametraps, combos, reads and punishes (i can't blame the character of course, she is good)
Love the videos that are basically "talk shit get hit". Good stuff! Ahhhh man i'd like to play this again, but the pricing and DLC is haggard for a game i've bought once before already.
if you really want to play it and you're the kind of person willing to do something legally questionable, using cheat engine it's possible to play as every single character on the free version, even online, no need to actually buy the game and it's pretty easy to do. All you need to do is open the game in cheat engine, click add address manually, type in 7FF7F020AA3C as the address, and locking it as any number from 0 to 27 will make the game replace whoever you choose in character select with the character that corresponds to that number internally (0 is katalina, 1 is gran, 2 is lancelot, 3 is charlotta, etc., test to find he number of the character you want)
I would love to play Grimnir more, but I can’t lie, seeing a character with a huge two handed lance, kicking and slapping with his off hand more than SWINGING HIS WEAPON is a big turn off.
Thank you for picking up Grimnir and absolutely inspiring me to play one of my new favorite characters in Rising as well as one of my fav Granblue characters overall! Also I'm glad I'm apparently not the only Seox who can't seem to time my counters too well.
Guys please sotp telling Phone that a character his trash, cause then he wins a tourney with the and you see new tech. BTW as a Vira main shes totally trash.
Watched the tournament. I agree Grimnir is nowhere near as bad as people say, but let’s also acknowledge the fact that you’re an amazing player, and were playing absolutely out of your mind that whole grand finals set. You worked for that win. That Charlotta player is freaking GDLK. Congrats Diaphone!!!
I want to know who on twitter'thought the character who gives himself multiple 8 way dashes, zeta-like normals, fireball and more was "Trash" cause that's the true garbage take here.
When you throw your wind orbs out during neutral, do you already have an idea how your going to use them or do you just put them out just in case you need to use them? Like is it mostly calculated or you just use them on the fly when you see an opportunity.
Who the actual f*ck would put Grimnir in the lowest tier. Seriously. I don't care if it would be Kazunoko or whoever, that's just fucking dumb. EDIT: Checking that Tier list... Narmaya A. Percy A. Djeeta in the last spot of A+. C'mon.
Bravery points. You spend them to do the universal guard crush (which can also extend combos) or the alpha counter. But having 1 or 0 means you take more damage when you get hit (a lot more at 0, a full +50%), so spending them recklessly can be a bad idea. Also, landing supers restores one point to you and takes one from your opponent. Low health supers take two from your opponent (still only restore one).
Grimnir has godlike neutral, really fast buttons, a full screen bionic arm that gives half life on hit and really strong set play. No idea why people would think he's bottom tier lol.... he's top 5 for me.
Surprised to see a Ferry make it all the way up to Top 3 what with all the neutral skips this game has. There's a Diaphone challenge, trying out Ferry or Metera vs the million Bionic Arms this game has.
Grimnir is trash? Let’s assume his hitbox and everything is garbage. The seals and air movement alone power the character to mid high tier IMO. Movement always boost character strength significantly
There’s only viable an nonviable. Bad characters can be viable, so it’s rly more of are YOU good, which… you are. I can’t rly say either what but bro could still be very bad, you’re just very good.
I’ve always wondered what do you do to find what tourneys to join for your videos. Is there like a site you go to for it or a discord? I just want to start getting into more tourneys and can only do online ones at the moment
I'm between Grimnir and Charlotta for a second character. I'm playing Siegfried atm since he is my favourite character in the franchise. Grimnir has some super cool recolours and is different than my preferred and tolerated play-styles. (I'm a zoner at heart but I don't want to have others suffer another Ferry player) Charlotta always makes me laugh and is one of my most used characters in the mobile game. Her and Baotorda are my favourite Lumiel Knights. I hope they added Apollonia (The Black Luminary Knight) with her Grand Kit, she'd be such a cool fighting game character. Anyway, thanks for all this Grimnirrrr Tech. Great job on your performance!
awesome gameplay. i've actually copied heaps of your 66A usage from your grimnir to my soriz. the 66A > 2A > 5A xx special seems universal, but you get heaps of +3 situations that are too far away to do anything with. so adding an 8 frame 66A in has been great for stealing turns back. How does grimnir compare to Nier now that you've played a bit with both.
I really am thinking about getting the game, but am unsure cause i am poor and its 50 bucks for me, as a Guilty gear strive enjoyer, would yall recommend this game? And is the player base big? Cause it is annoying as hell queuing up in Guilty gear and facing the same dude 5 times in a row
I know my comment is 2 days late and I'm not sure if you've made a decision yet, but definitely would recommend getting the game. It's new, so the playerbase is big and very active. There's even a free version of the game that you can try, which gives you access to Gran + 3 rotating weekly characters that you can play online, including ranked. There's also a for-fun Fall Guys mode if you're into that lol
I'm forcing myself to use them because I figure it's only a matter of time before that becomes the norm and technical inputs possibly even get phased out. Just like leverless controllers, you don't have to, but it's easier and more advantageous to use it. Granblue making the difference between simple inputs and technical inputs near negligible is the start. Most fighters now have simple inputs as well as autocombos, it's coming.
There's no reason not to use easy inputs during combos, there's no difference there at all. Which isn't to say don't use motions there if it's no problem for you, I do myself for quarter-circle moves, but if it makes your combos more consistent, no reason not to use easy inputs. In neutral it does matter, you do a little less damage if you use the easy input, but I think for some (mostly DPs, but also things with more elaborate motions like Belial's command grab) it's worth losing the damage for the speed and consistency of the easy input. Also worth noting, supers have two inputs that count as the motion input. Double qcf H/U, and qcf special/special+U (regular and super artes respectively). Obviously the latter is easier since it's one less qcf, so it's definitely worth doing supers that way, even if using the super in neutral.
In a game that focuses on "core" mechanics like GB:VS, it is pretty much obvious that the characters that have more elaborate movement/space control options (Zeta, Grimnir, Nier, etc...) will at the very least be average, and, most likely, be good to top tier. While technically not impossible, it's hard to be trash when you have way more options than the rest of the cast for messing with the opponent's timings and/or mix them. Just being able to delay your fall to dodge a 6H is very strong already, in this game. So talk about darting around like Grim or Zet!
I’ve never played this game but always dug the art style. Titty Samurai seems pretty sick. Everyone’s moves seem weirdly stubby though, compared to other fighting games, and ESPECIALLY compared to other arksys games
i may not be a great player but after maining zeta with the free version she seems to have a big problem of needing to get your opponent into the corner to be able to let lose, at round start neutral alot of characters like gran, djeeta, nier, belz all seems to have better tools that and unlike other characters who have disjointed hit boxes she seems to have disjointed hurtbox with her charged where the hurtbox seems to be near the spear head i agree that she is good but being the best and at S+ tier, either there's something i'm missing or the list is just another typical japan tier list
Grimnir is great. Only ppl calling him bottom tier tried him 2 mins and gave up. I never trust super early impressions when chars like Grim needs time to develop.
I do not think he’s even close to being so bad he’s in his own tier 😭 I saw a tier list that said it was from Koreans that had Anila in her won bottom 1 tier lol
