The Germans being there is actually pretty interesting. The date they gave us at the beginning of the movie was 1916 which was during WW1. In WW1 Germany tried to convince Mexico to ally with them and start a war on the US border as a way to keep America busy so that America couldn’t focus as many resources on fighting Germany, basically a distraction. It didn’t work tho.

In fact, the British discovered an attempt on the part of Germany to bring Mexico into the war on their side when they intercepted the "Zimmerman telegram." The Brits told the Americans and it was one of the reasons America entered the war!

Supposed telegram! This is after the Rothschild family promised to bring the Americans in on the war to keep the English fighting. The British empire wanted to pull out of the war in 1916. That is where the German hatred for the little hat tribe came from.

"Galaxy Quest" is basically a re-imagining of "The Three Amigos" which is a re-imagining of "The Magnificent Seven" which is a re-imagining of "The Seven Samurai." It's an inception "inception." And that's not to detract from any of these amazing films. They are each wonderful in their own right. Also, while Randy Newman wrote the songs, Elmer Bernstein composed the score for this film and he lovingly styled it to resemble his _other_ epic score for "The Magnificent Seven."

In the lady's defense, a LOT of people didn't understand that movies were fake. There was an early film where a train was coming into station and people RAN OUT OF THE THEATER, trying to escape the train coming towards them. true story.

Sorry, but not a true story. What really happened was that the viewers were so impressed by the film's picture quality and smooth framerate that several of them enthusiastically remarked afterward about how lifelike it was, saying it almost looked as if the train would roll right out of the picture and into the theater. Nobody panicked or ran away, they were just really impressed, and the story mutated in the retelling like a game of telephone.

12:51 - Speaking of Chevy Chase specific jokes: the one in National Lampoon's European Vacation where he asks for a Coke from a stewardess. The stewardess asks "Would you like it in the can?" Chevy looks towards the back of the plane and says, "No. I'll have it here."

Steve Martin has been doing the rope tricks since he was a kid working at the Disneyland magic shop. He was born to perform.

Wow, "sew like the wind" is a line used in Our Flag Means Death. What a weird place to find a Three Amigos reference.

Watching this reaction, you really revealed to me how amazing this film is even though I’ve seen it many times. Thanks, bros. And good job with the shirts!!!!

Great job on the shirts, Chris! The scene where Dusty shoots the invisible swordsman will be burnt into my brain forever.

I love how you asked if they really had to ask if that was the singing bush, just seconds after asking that yourself.

Great movie, and one of my wife's favourites. Watching it with her family is an annual tradition they have had for at least 30 years.

19:57: I know the line was never shown, but I can't believe there's a movie where someone says "great, you killed the invisible swordsman", and ACTUALLY MEANT IT.

This was the first movie I saw "by myself" at the theaters. My best friend next door neighbor & his dad took me to see it for my birthday.
