In this video I'll show you how you can route audio to two audio devices from Reaper. By default Reaper will only work with one audio driver, which means you are stuck using the same audio device you are bringing audio channels in on, to route your audio back out. But with this solution I'll demonstrate in the video you can bring audio in on one device and route your final mix out on a different device.

Also another good application of these are instrumentals with backing tracks (main PA) and monitor mixes (performers' IEMs).

Ive started exclusively installing Mac for audio devices precisely because of this situation. Core audio is the greatest! Dante Via is a nice leveling field for device interoperability on Windows but nothing takes the place of OS level aggregation.

Which of the USB sends options is appropriate? Analog, Input, PreEQ, Post EQ, Pre Fader, Post Fader, Analog + Mute, Input + Mute, PreEQ + Mute, Post EQ + Mute, Pre Fader + Mute

Without Voicemeter with Asio4All like IN/OUT driver preference. Into the A4A settings you can choice multiple devices like aggregated in mac.Is a generic clock.

Ya, only problem with ASIO4ALL is it only supports 2 input channels per device, so for multichannel mixing from something like a mixer with many channels 16, 24, 32, 128, input channels needed, it's not going to work for that. Also, it aggregates WDM drivers internally so the latency is going to be an issue for input channels trying to sync back up with video.

In one of our churches i use another method. I use NDI Output vst3 plugin on the master (in our case i made a separate monitor bus with eq correction of headphones), and i receive it with another program: it could be either an NDI Viewer, or in our case OBS itself. You don't have to route anything at all, don't have to change anything about drivers, and even more you can receive the NDI audio across the LAN from anywhere in the building if needed for some reason.

Same here, using NDI Audio direct as my last plugin in protools. Best free solution.

Great video!!!! I am going to attempt this solution... I didn't realize that reaper could only support 1 AISIO device at a time... it was a huge dissapoitment to say the least. You didn't talk about the option of routing it back to the Mixer and sending it to the Live, How do you achieve that?

Ya, I kind of glossed over it. So, Reaper will route the main mix by default to output channels 1/2 of the selected audio device. Assuming your mixer is the audio device, you'll get your mix going back to the mixer on the mixer's USB input 1/2. So, on the mixer, route that to a physical output of the mixer to send to your video. (Depending on what mixer you have, how you route that will be different.) Hope that makes sense.

@@BallastMedia Yea, thanks. I figured it out, I am using the Berhinger X32, I ended up just sending the Mix Back to 2 channels on the Mixer, routing it through Reaper is already proving to make a huge difference. We didn't have the budget to go with Dante, so we settled for what we had... Thanks again for your videos

Hello. Looking for a little help. Our Mac which ran Logic for our live stream audio died. Looking for a way to have our PC for our video to handle both for now. It is more than capable to do this. Our setup is. Dante to Logic and then it sends to our stream pc. What would be a good Logic alternative for windows to get our audio through Dante on the pc for now till Mac is fixed/replaced. Appreciate any input !!!

I'd suggest Reaper. Take a look at the series of videos linked in the description of this video. If you're running Reaper and your live streaming software (OBS?) on the same computer, it's pretty simple to get audio from one to the other. Use ReaRoute in Reaper to send the mix out, and then install the ASIO extension for OBS, and you can bring the audio in to OBS via ReaRoute.

@allentrebinski vmix will take the asio input from ReaRoute directly, yes, should work fine.
