Hey mate, shouldnt' you Y charger cable? So that you don't get any dangerous voltage difference between both batteries. I am looking for this exact mod as i just bought a new battery, but seems like i can fix the old one with a new BMS. Have you tested charging and balancing abilities with this setup? Thanks man, awesome video :)
You can do the Y charger or charge them separately, or get the Rita device for around 60eur and then you don’t care about the difference in voltages (if you have seen my latest video I just got it myself, even plugging in 50.4V 12s battery). This setup I have charged the batteries separately to the same voltage so I did not check on the balancing :)

Ian Taplin hi mate! I am! But I am in an interesting situation... I have ordered a new bms that did not arive, this Monday received a refund after 90days of waiting... ordered a new one. every battery has a separate bms, you do not need to connect it to anywhere. If you have 2 packs charged to the same level and connected in parallel - the battery "Does not know" that it's capacity has increased 2x nor does it have to :)
Ya don't have too once you connect batteries they both are controlling the battery packs so as long as they are both reading the exact reading of voltage then cross wires parallel and also too the same port to charge
Creative Stuff I would say yes, unless you are using balancing charger and are sure you won’t drain the battery too much 🙄 it just can be any bms, not necessarily m365 one

When you connect the second battery do you need to connect any other cable besides the one with the xt30? There are 2 more extra cable that's the battery...
:) Someone most probably will correct me: There is one going to the main board/controller, you only need it connected from your main battery. Now the other one is the charging port. You could do another Y-joint there and just use the original charging port to charge both of your batteries at the same time. If you will not do the Y split, as far as I understand, both batteries will still charge, but the second battery will not be attempted to be "balanced" with the BMS. A good solution would be to install the second charge port and charge both batteries at the same time with 2 separate original chargers. And “good” = fast :) Oh, and there is one more cable - at the back for the light. Only connect it from one battery.
Do you have idea why scooter m365 reduceing speed, slowing down and then accelerate again.this patern is constant when rideing full trothel.maby to change capacitor from 63v to 100v on motor controler.?.or the number of revolution is limited by software.

@@gigi9467 No I am not selling now amything :) maybe I should consider one day, but then I need to quit my full time job. With both suspensions it would be like the stock height of the m365 I think. At the same time “wildman” bag above the front foot works pretty well also. And you can fit decent size battery there. It does not take the deck space and you can still fold the scooter. The effect on the centre of gravity is negligeble 🙄
Do you have any plans for the black M365 where you got the battery from? Maybe you could do another video where you put a custom higher capacity battery instead of the parallel method here.

@@VRMinde Hmm if I may suggest, maybe try buying a used/new M365 Pro battery on the black one and install Pro Dashboard and see how it stacks compared to a stock M365 Pro? :)
My “simple” m365 with Rita and 12ah extra battery has more range than I ever intend to ride on an electric scooter :) For longer distances I prefer ebike over escooter ;)
To be 100% safe I would make a Y (parallel) connection on the charging wires after the charge port as well. Then just charge both batteries at the same time through their charging wires, but with the same one charger. That would allow the separate BMSs of every battery to stop charging if the set voltage has been reached. It would also lower the charging current for every battery in half. I think that would be a safe way, but hey, do it at your own risk :)
@@VRMinde Hi thanks for the reply, appreciate it :) . anyway, i did an upgrade on my xiaomi after watching your video. test it for about 2 weeks and works perfectly fine. i'm completely happy for the range i can reach with this mod. But i didn't put the second battery on the deck. i made a custom bag for it so i can remove the battery anytime i want. And for charging, i'm always charge it separately ( disconnect and take out the second battery from the bag ). So i wonder if i can charge it directly from the scooter charging port without disconnect the second battery LOL (never try this before, so i need to ask) :D anyway, love your video so far! Keep it up man, many thanks for all your videos ^^
@@claudiotimotius858 Thanks for the kind feedback mate. I understand what are you asking, and I assume it is "kind of safe" to do that. Your "normal battery" is charged via charging wires and through the BMS. But as its' voltage is going up - the second battery will also be charging as it is connected to the positive and negative terminals of the first one. The problem that I can see is that the BMS of the second battery cannot stop that charging if something goes wrong, because the charging is not going through it. Let's say you have a bad cell - during the normal charge BMS can stop the charging in case of overcharge, short-circuit etc. , but in this case, it won't. That is the risk. I would either continue charging them separately and checking the voltage every time before I "join" them, but to be honest soldering a simple parallel connection on the charging port wires is 9999x easier :)
@@VRMinde Noted. Will Try to make Y parallel connection for next project. For now i will keep it in traditional way. Charge it separately :D thank you so much for the feedback! ^^

Dulla Han if you charge them to the same level before connecting together - it wouldn’t. You scooter’s battery already has 10s2p: 10 cells in series and 2 in parallel. I just recommend to use the second battery pack with it’s own BMS.
@@VRMinde i tried running the m365 battery on a 36v ebike controller and bcm cuts off once at full throttle. Do you think it would cause any problem if i solder xt60 directly on the battery terminals before it enters the bcm and charge it through the regular balance port after the battery needs a charge?
Dulla Han Are you talking about BMS (battery managenent system) or something else that you call bcm? Most probably m365’s bms is cutting off after not receiving some communication from the controller. But I am just guessing. I do not know that for sure. If you just bypass the BMS you will be able to use the pack of course. But you have to make sure you won’t over-discharge it as there is nothing stopping you to do so. And you do not want to overdischarge the li-ion cells :)
@@VRMinde yes the bms(sorry im so used to calling it bcm), the unit that sits at the very tip of the battery. Im certain there a fail safe on the bcm that prevents over draw thats why it shuts down when at full throttle then power back up when released. Im thinking of running 2 m365 batteries in parallel but bypassing both bcm using a 500w ebike controller.
Dulla Han ok, I never heard it called bcm - allways BMS :) but what’s important that we understand each other :D You can do that of course... but you do understand that you should not draw more from the cell than it is specified to “give away”? And that without the BMS nothing will be controlling the individual cell voltage. And if thepack goes unbalanced and a cell goes below 3.0v you might even have a short circuit in the cell? And it can burn your house/garage or something else :) If you are ok taking those risks go for it :)
Hi, sorry for asking, but am I right that If I want to do this I just connect the xt60 connectors parallel and connect just one bms? What about charging? Do I just connect the charger like normally and they will both charge even with one bms disconnected? Thanks!
you have to have separate BMS for separate packs. BMS will watch for over/under current not only in the whole pack but also in individual cell groups. Depending what type of BMS you use your pack may or may not charge through the power output port, by the way, I think it is xt30 in xiaomi. But you can easily make a small parallel connection to a charging port and then just use one charger as always
yes, you just make sure they are charged to the same level before you connect :) the original bms "will not know" there is another pack connected in parallel@@anythingdotstl5585

@@barakcobrama1703 well, If you are willing to monitor and controll battery charge and discharge levels manually + constantly check cells for disbalance - you can run without a BMS. I would at least install some BMS, not necesserally the standard m365 one
looks dangerous to me to have plastic cover underneath. They used aluminium with certain shape for resistance. In case of accident, imagine a car driving over the scooter, it should maintain shape and protect battery, otherwise it would explode and can make the car take fire. There are safety aspects that need to be accounted for.
We have a saying: “if you’re affraid of a wolf - do not go to the forest” :) Majority of ebike battery packs are plastic cases that would 100% not survive a car going over it 🙄 But you do have a point here, you can damage the pack even hitting a curb or a deep pothole.
That's a way to do it but for me it doesn't look practical riding with that little ground clearance. There are some 18650 cells that offer 3500mAh of capacity which is still 35% more range over the standard 2600mAh cells without even changing the construction of the scooter. You can check out Vortecks on youtube, he has made a beast M365 with custom cells and BMS.
Anonymous yeah, 100% agree. Larger cells would be the least appearance-changing way. But my office is like 2km away from home, so stock battery works well... For longer trips I go with ebike. But it was a fun experiment :)
