For March break this year we decided to take our son to see his Grandparents in Florida and take him to Disney. Of course we did things the old School Way and drove the 21 hours or so from Dunnville Ontario, instead of flying because that’s how the Brady Bunch would have done it. My better half and I did manage to sneak in a few thrifting / vintage / antique store stops while we were down. We hit the Goodwill Bins and a few other thrift shops in Bradenton, some I remembered to film in most I forgot (hey I was on vacation). We also took a day to head to the town of Arcadia. It was about an hours drive away but it was worth it. They have a Saturday market every 4th weekend (check the website as I may have that wrong). They shut down the Main Street and vintage/collectables/antique sellers set up and sell outdoors in the street. Sadly we came on the wrong week so we missed that. However they have many many many Antique and Vintage Malls and shops that are open year round that were amazing to go wander through. They also have a Habitat re-store and a Goodwill near by. You will also find a great little coffee shop called. and one of the coolest bookshops I have been in Called Dragon’s Den Books. I will post links below for you to check out the websites ect. I highly recommend you stop by if you get a chance. The people in each shop were exceptionally friendly and helpful. My other half managed to fill bags and bags. I told myself before we came down that I was not going to buy anything unless it was on my grail list due to space constraints. That being said I did find a record that for me was one I had been after for years. A soundtrack to the 1970’s film Up Tight. It was done by Booker T and the MG’s and it is tight!
This video is a jumble of shots from the days I did actually remember to film.
Oh and the thrifting newspaper I talked about in the intro is actually called “The Happy Thrifter Resale Guide”.
