Hi quick question I hope you get round to answering it. I’m confused as how to work out how much cord I’ll Need to make a 2ft lead and a 4ft lead? Would you be able to help with work out the measurements?

Hi, I'm new to this and really appreciate your videos. In your single colour cobra video you use 16" of cord for 1" of leash, is there a reason for the change, or is this updated calculations?

Hi there, thank you so much for a brilliant tutorial!! Silly question maybe, could you not add the 3 foot extra to the original cords and just go all round the handle in one go and finish off at the base of the handle rather than doing each side at a time? I made a lead to your tutorial but instead of having one side of the handle in reverse I did it so the whole way round matched on top as it did underneath. So if doing it this way could you do it one go. Kindest regards Charlotte

Hi, this leash can be made to any length you like but I do have a video of a Cobra Traffic leash, it is about 1 foot long in length and I have put a link in the description above for you:)

I'm really bad at math. Approximately how much paracord would I need for a 2 1/2 foot leash? Would that be about 36 ft? Or 18 per color?

Ok so now that I know how to do 2 colors I need measurements for a 4 ft and 8 ft leash. How much of each color and how much of the extra cord please. Thanks so much
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 6 лет назад
Hi, no worries, all you need to do is calculate your measurement using the guide at the beginning of the video, once you've got your total, each colour is half of the total measurement, add an extra1-3ft:)

Ok I think I figured out what my question is. In weaving the handle, do you use the purple and silver from small piece that was threaded through, or the purple and silver from the long piece that wove the rest of the leash or a combination of the two?
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 5 лет назад
Hi, so each side of the handle will use one piece of the smal. Cord and one piece of the long cord from leash itself. If you using the short silver piece then you will use the long purple piece with it:)

Hi, nice tutorial, but i don't understand your measurement example? for a 6 ft leash you need 78 ft of cord?? Did you miss a decimal maybe?
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 5 лет назад
Hi, 78ft is correct. its 1 foot of cord per 1 inch in length, plus the additional 6 foot piece. you will have some leftover cord but its always good to have more than you think you will need.

I cannot figure out how to secure the cord to the snap. Can I have the name of the hitch/knot/whatever it is so that I can look up how to do that part somewhere else? Your hand keeps getting in the way and I cant seem to get it right. I've been trying this for hours

Hiii im from belgium and we dont use inche/ft so im extremely confused right now, i want a 1,5 meter long leash, so how many cord do i need?
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 3 года назад
Hi, I live in australia and we don't usually use inch/ft either but for paracord its just so much either to use it. Easiet way to convert is just to use the converter in google search. If you've never used it before, just type in for example 2ft in cm and it will pop up with a little conversion box.

Hi there! Thanks for this awesome video. I just wanted to confirm... if I wanted to make a 4ft leash, is the 6in. Included in the 4ft? Or is it added onto the 4ft (4.5ft)?
@Paracordingaround

Hi, thanks, the 6 inches is added the length to account for the second side of the handle

What is the extra 3 feet of each color for?

Hi, its just to ensure you don't accidentally run out of cord.

I have a little problem.. I burned the ends together at the beginning and it just broke.. how can i fix It? I don't want to throw it away
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 6 лет назад
Hi, have you already completed the leash and it broke afterwards, or is currently unfinished? I am personally not a fan of burning ends together as don't find it very strong so I always use the many method of joining cord together as it is far stronger in my experience, I have a link on how to join cord using the manny method in the description below. If you have already made the leash, I would recommend undoing the whole leash (I reuse the cord in my videos all the time, its annoying but it doesn't take as long as it looks) then rejoin the cord using the manny method and start again. If you had already cut and singed the ends to complete the leash then just make the leash about 1.5 inches shorter so you will have enough cord at the cord to complete the last few weaves. hope this helps, let me know you go.

Paracordingaround i had already finished it.. I used it for 2 weeks i think.. I sadly didn't have a fid but I bought one last Sunday.. just waiting to arrive 😊 but I also don't really understand how that works. I had to throw the leash away (without the musketon) because it was breaking more
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 6 лет назад
oh bugger, that's awesome you bought fid though, are you unsure of how to use the fid or is it the many method you aren't sure on?
@erumvanpelt3943
@erumvanpelt3943 6 лет назад
I just watched the video again with the fid and now I finally get it! this was my 5th time watching it since I wanted to make the leash. at the beginning I didnt really get it how it would make it stronger or how it would stay like that but now I kinda understand it.. Is a fid with a good point important ? because i dont know if i got the right one.
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 6 лет назад
A good point on a fid is important for joining cord but don't stress if the one you bought doesn't. My first fids that I bought were the very blunt so what I did was I just used a tiny screwdriver to poke a whole through the cord then pushed the fid through, don't use scissors to cut a hole as it weakens the cord. you can make the end of the fid sharper by rubbing it on sandpaper or if you or someone you know is handy with powertools you could use an electric sander to do it.

78 inches equals 6.5 feet not 78 feet. I'm confused?
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 5 лет назад
you need 1 foot of cord per 1 inch in length, so 78 inches means you need 78 feet of cord
@signatureflightsupport2248

@@Paracordingaround Oh, okay but I always seem to have so much left over? So if the length of the leash is going to be 6 feet (which equals 72 inches) and 1 foot of cord per inch, shouldn't it be 72 feet? (unless I'm really missing something? lol!) Thanks for your reply..
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 5 лет назад
@@signatureflightsupport2248 hi, so if you want to make a leash 6ft in length, you need to add an additional 6 inches to it, so it 6.5ft that you make the calculations off of which makes it 78. the 6 inches is for the other side of the handle. does that make sense?
@Paracordingaround
@Paracordingaround 5 лет назад
There will always be left over cord as the actual amount of cord used of per inch works out a little less than 1 foot of cord but calculating 1 foot per 1 inch is a lot more simple and easy then trying to calculate to exact amount. its always a good idea to start with more than you need so you don't end up getting almost all the way to end of leash only to find yourself with not enough cord to finish or if you accidentally make the leash a few inches longer than it should of been (which i done before) you will still be able to finish it. everyone will have slightly different lengths of leftover cord as it depends how how tight they are making each weave. once you have made a few leashes, measure the leftover cord and you could minus some of the feet off your starting total(just remember you do need some extra to make the final weaves) i personally like the longer left over cords, to me they more useful than a having bunch of small 2-3 foot cords left.
