Yep, I work at a deli and can confirm. We had a massive recall. I will clear this up though, this didn't just happen to boars head. other brands have also experienced recalls as well. I tend to only lightly trust brands, and honestly while it is disappointing, it's a thing that happens. A few years ago there was an e coli breakout in romaine lettuce. You can't put all of your trust into a company, no matter how good the quality is historically, and the same goes for boars head (I'm a fan of some of their selections, but I don't fully trust any company.) This isn't a government conspiracy, boars head isn't trying to poison you, the democrats didn't plague the deli counter, it's just that life sucks sometimes and sucky things like this unfortunately happen due to human error. Just calm down and do what you can by avoiding processed meat for now.

Not long after Covid, I got sick and everyone kept telling me I might have Covid but I knew I didn’t. Then my sister told there had been a recall on some lettuce and since salad was the last thing I had eaten before getting sick, I am pretty sure it was the lettuce. And you know how if you get sick off of something you either can never eat it again or can rarely tolerate it again, and I really don’t care for lettuce anymore.

Yes because the Amish farmer in PA is not using any modern cleanliness practices. That Amish guy is serving a few hundred, maybe a thousand. Boars head has been serving millions. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from 1998 through 2018, there were 202 outbreaks linked to drinking raw milk These outbreaks caused 2,645 illnesses and 228 hospitalizations. CDC points out that most foodborne illnesses are not a part of recognized outbreaks, and for every illness reported, many others occur. Raw milk is milk from cows, sheep, and goats - or any other animal - that has not been pasteurized to kill harmful germs. Raw milk can carry dangerous germs such as Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, Campylobacter, and others that cause foodborne illness, often called “food poisoning.” So that is an average of 20 outbreaks a year, and 200 plus illnesses, and 20 hospitalizations. For the few thousand who buy Amish raw milk.. That's just the data I can find on the milk, who knows about meats.

The younger men are the ones who told me about that but the hallway really reeked and it was by the employee entrance so nobody could avoid it. Lots of alcoholics worked there too. They don't at Stop & Shop. We carry Boar's Head, Stop and Shop Brand, Taste of Inspiration & Cooper Farms meats. Boar's Head is always pushed more than other brands, though, and our whole deli is Boar's Head "themed." They definitely put some good money towards in-store advertising.

I hate Boar's Head deli meats! I usually purchase the store brands, usually Kroger's Private Selection, which is better than Boar's Head. I tried Boar's Head pastrami, Lebanon Bologna, and a couple of flavors of turkey breast and all of them were way under-seasoned and under-smoked and the turkey breast was DRY as the Sahara. I also don't buy Boar's Head because they're prices are ridiculous. If you like Lebanon Bologna, Seltzer's is the best I've ever had, but we can't get it in Colorado anymore (boo hoo!)

(I don't know how it is now) Back in the day when kids in high school had time & motivation to take summer & after-school jobs, some of my friends would work in the plants making lunchmeat. The stories they told were awful, the bits & parts ground up & crushed to be stuffed into casings were bad enough, but if you dropped some, you had to scoop it up off the floor & use it anyway. I would have thought they were exaggerating , except that none of them would ever eat a hot dog or lunchmeat again---so I'm guess stories true.
