I purchased the dressier version of the addiesdive wave dial with the jubilee bracelet and the top hat sapphire (AD2118) and absolutely love it. Amazon AU currently has them for $149 AUD.

Honestly the Lobinni had me go rewatch the Baltic video, Jody, and…I think it is just so clearly worth the increased price when watched back to back. That blue dial Baltic have and the way they do the sub seconds and thankfully don’t have a date to destroy the look. Just great.

The most impressive thing about the Specht & Sohne is the way that second hand is nailing those second indices dead on every tick. That’s a pet peeve of mine when dealing with quartz. Now if they had just given it that chrono sub dial…

I do love the dial on that Addiesdive. My AD2118 has the same textured dial as that, but it's a light blue. That Specht & Sonne... Oh dear 🤦‍♂Definitely need a full roast video on it 😆 The Lobinni is very nice, but the star of the show is that movement for sure. I've had mine for a couple of years now and I still take it off when wearing it, just to look at that movement. I even have another watch from microbrand Sólás with it in too. That one is pretty special, with a gorgeous dial and very unusual strap too.

Been a subscriber for at least 4 years, and this is my favorite video of yours. Our entire house laughed as I explained to them why you lost it during filming. So glad you kept that in, as it was genuine and we got to share in the hilariousness.

I ordered a host of watch straps during the sale and the shipping to the UK was exceptionally quick. Very impressed with the quality of most.

The opening falling fourth, followed by the bird calls hearkens hope, optimism and beauty (to me). After a tumultuous journey (life?), the resolution at the very end is a sign to me that Mahler at least wants or believes that beauty, hope and optimism to prevail. I love versions that really go for it (i.e. MTT w/SFO) to underscore the point and thumb the nose at the despair and hopelessness we can all so easily let take over our lives. I came to Mahler with the ninth, so the first was and remains a pleasant discovery and one of my favorite symphonies. Best to all and thank you, Dave for keeping the music alive and vital.

The Lobinni should've had a round date window (or none at all).

Schpecht means ‘bad’ in Luxembourgish dialect, so phonetically, at least, we should not be surprised! Worth it for the laugh (and yes do a full Sunday roast of it). Perhaps with the legibility issues I see with all three of these watches, they though you wouldn’t realise the chrono seconds hand was missing 😆😂🤣

The Addisdive dial reminds me of the pattern in my bathroom window when I was I kid in our 70's semi. Mum said it was bowl of rice, but it gave me nightmares about bowls of maggots!

That Lobinni is very nice. Glad to see they didn't over do the movement with blue screws everywhere.

The AD Willarp look really *fresh* with the Stainless bezel insert, a look I usually do not like at all on most divers. I find it usually cheapens the look of a "nice" watch. But on the Willard with the white dial, it really adds to the tool-ish aesthetic. It just works. Coulda used some blued or black hands, though 🤷🏼

The second chronograph at 6 was purposely not used on Specht & Sohne probably for simpler looks. Still can use minute counter chronograph function by 60 minute chronograph counter at 9.

lol not only did they remove the sub dial..they also wrote "cronograph" in its place!...imagine you came out to the car in the morning,and there was a sign saying"steering wheel" on your dashboard instead of an actual wheel..lol nice to break sunday morning in with major chuckles with the jomw chaps!

Jody giggling is one of the best moments in all of his videos ever. So good! Also, that white dial looks like the surface of a glacier, so waves, just frozen waves.

I swapped the hands of Addiesdive to black ones. It's a major improvement.

The Specht & Sohne (it should be Söhne = sons in German) has the VD53 movement from Hattori = Seiko Instruments as they use in their other chronographs. The movement/hands issues are all over the comments in shops.

You need to save the specht watch. It is going to worth a fortune😉😉 as a factory one-off. I ordered one and it works exactly as it should, properly functioning chronograph withe a 24 hour indicator. They must have gobbed something up by putting the wrong movement in. For the money, I actually quite like it. Love your channel.

I bought the same Addiesdive watch. I'm excited to get it later on this week. That bezel is very interesting. It's my 3rd 1970, lol you just can't beat those watches.

I've bought that Captain Willard already some time ago, from the very same store on Ali. It's easily one of my favorite watches currently, and shows no signs of wear, even though I wear it at least once a week, also at work (which is a bit "unhealthy" for watches). The lume on this one is worth mentioning - blue on indices and pip, and green on hands go nicely together. The blue BGW-9 isn't also as faint as in case of some other cheap watches; actually is on the same level of brightness, as in one of my San Martin watches. During this years' summer sale I've also bought (among others) one Lobinni, model 16001 I think, with Seagull ST16D automatic movement. Haven't received it yet, but I keep my fingers crossed.

I do a lot of building and rebuilding of my watches and the Willard shares key parts dimensions with the SKX, meaning there's a ton of dials, bezel inserts and hands on Ali to choose from. (incidentally the "ripple" pattern dials have been around a while - I have a light blue version on a Willard). The pricing on some watches means that I've bought some just for the parts. It's a fun hobby needing very few inexpensive tools.

Regarding your redial comment, that might be something else to include in the dimensions listing. It’s hard to get an accurate measurement without disassembly, but it’s usually possible to identify that a watch doesn’t have the common 28.5mm dial.

That Specht & Sohne reminds me of my Doxa homage from Tactical Frog with a tachymeter. I blame you Jody, as I bought it after your review! Actually, I like the goofiness of it now.

The chronograph isn't completely usless. You can still time things, just only in rough minutes, but would work fine for timing a frozen pizza or something.

I bought a steeldive 1970 in green for 62 us, and a San Martin bb39 gmt in green as well. Waiting for them to arrive, hopefully soon.

Well Jody, you can make that "Donkey" into a nice watch by transplanting a real VK64 movment, that if the register distance are the same. The other 2 watches are good to go, especially that microrotor, that is very nice.

I would change out those Addiedive hands. A nice set of coloured hands would be preferred.

It was so funny, but also really cool for you to go full sherlock-Holmes-spec and investigate what movement you had with the help of the excellent caliber corner database. The lobini would be a must buy if it didn't have a sketchy name, and the willard was yet again so much watch for the cash.

It isn't actually unusable as a chronograph, as long as you don't need second accuracy.

The dial on that addies is cool...but I just don't understand silver hands on silver dial. I like looking at my watches, but I also like reading the time off of them. Maybe if it had blue hands, or gun metal black framed hands. The final watch is quite nice, and that movement is a real beaut. Wish it too, was more legible. Maybe some AR would help with that? Great review!

I got the addies dive AD2030 36mm with a VH31 and bubble mineral crystal . Looks very nice.

So the minor mental breakdown at 9:00 and on is sincerely one of the funniest things I've seen on RU-vid in a while. I've had that moment a few times reviewing patient charts. "Oh, you did surgery on A and C, but you ignored B? What were you thinking...?"

2:54 i recommend "platinum" color strap from the same brand (aka 5$ alli special) as your green 1970.

Lobinni; For The Win!

The Donkey is changed to a real watch by SAN MARTIN. MODEL SN0026JS has a VK63 movement, and a 4 hand chronograph dial, like you would expect. For $236 usd you get the real deal. That style is still not for me, but SM does improve the donkey experience to one more palatable. 😅

I think the third one looks amazing from the back, i've never owned a micro rotor. I have has some strange chronographs, one I just thought of, a Yachtmaster homage, chrono times one minute with the seconds, nothing else!

I have the aliedive in this white and in the black and I love them both. No issues.

The two dials are just because Bell & Ross BR 05 (to which this is the homage) has only two dials in their chronograph model. S&S should have used a suitable movement so as not to have to skip the third sub-dial.

I can’t remember you even swearing before. The 1st one was beautiful.

Get the watchdives one, not the steel or addies....significantly better although it's the same product.

The specht that was delivered to me seems to have the vk movement without a quartz second hand. The pushers activate the chronograph and ticks five times a second…I did have an issue with the bracelet being broken.

Great video as usual Jody. I love your amusement at the Bell and Ross homage chronograph... But I have some observations that might help make sense of it. My first thought is that someone might want to time something with I don't know... minute precision but not seconds precision? It's a bit of an education I'm not sure what to think about the person who decides this is what they need and that a second register is undesirable but it could happen. Here's what I think is the most likely scenario though: the designers of this watch in picking out that movement thought that it was like a normal chronograph with the center seconds being the chronograph hand. Thinking that the center seconds was the chronograph hand, they decided to delete the running seconds from the face, which, honestly, I'm okay with. A completely sane design decision. But then nobody decided to follow up and make sure that that was actually the case. By the time it got to production all the parts were ordered, all the tooling was made, and they just ran with it. Most tricom packs chronographs use a subdial for the running seconds so I can't say I blame them too much, except did they even make a prototype and try it out first? Now here's another observation: I work in a jewelry store, as their in house watchmaker. I do the occasional repair but most of what I do is batteries bracelets etc etc. About 80% of the people who bring a chronograph into my store have no idea what the subdials do and have no idea how to use it and don't even know that it's a thing. EIGHTY PERCENT. They are usually pleasantly surprised when I explain it, and even more so when I sit there chronograph hands back to zero because they got all caddywampus and now the face of their watch looks right again. But if 80% of people who buy these things don't even know what they are, how many of us do you think actually use them? I'm guessing that even for watch nerds, chronographs tend to be more decorative than utilitarian. I love chronographs and I have several, and I even look for excuses to use mine. But I think for the average person and even the average watch nerd it's all about the look. The people who made that Bell and Ross homage probably know this

I own the specht and sohne aquanaut chronograph and ironically enough it *only* has a seconds subdial, so if you combine the 2 of them you get an actual functional watch. And I agree with you the on mine the case, strap and dial are great but I know the movement is bottom shelf garbage. Id still recommended the aquanaut just based on aesthetics alone, it was mi favorite for a long time, but I do have to admit it isn't the best.

Brilliant! I picked up the Specht and Sohne PRX homage recent and really happy with it for the money. Wouldn't be happy with this one tho. They deserve that roasting!

It’s a shame about that S&S. It is a great looking watch. I’ve got a blue one in my cart, and the price had dropped $17 since I added it. Now $58. I have a few chronos, and I have to admit I never use the chrono feature. Might order it anyway, but I’m glad to know what I’m getting into before spending the cash. So thanks for the review!

Classic roast spud of a square watch. Laugh out loud, us both. As you say, the other 2 look good, although the "wave" dial would be in the running for hardest to read watch from this first look. The micro rotor also looks a lot better off the wrist than on it. Maybe the dial & movements will show up in better watches down the line?

Still better than mechanical hand wind chrono with screw down crown. Or if not better at least much cheaper. And what about their other models? Looks like a chrono with just seconds subdial, no minutes. Together they could have everything.

I got that micro rotor watch and the date moves only half way and stays there in between the two dates . Shame as otherwise seems would be a good product relatively . You can manually adjust the date fine just won't work by the hands sweep alone .

I love the Addiesdive, but am waiting for a no logo dial version.

Concerning the Specht and Sohne, they had a Heuer Monaco homage, and you could see on the pictures that they keep the Monaco subdials layout, but with a Seiko VK movement, that had a different layout... But they sorted it out on their V2 version, I offered one to my dad and actually, it's a very nice watch, that you can actually use as a chronograph. So just wait of a V2 of this one :)

My last order from AliExpress arrived in Sydney in 6 days. The watch was quite nice too.

The way I see it, the S&S has now become a conversation piece in the collection. It is an attractive watch for the price and on top of that, you have guaranteed that none of the other chronographs in your collection feature the same characteristic. Of all the chronographs on my collection, nearly every single one offers a different feature, or quirk that keeps them from being too similar to each other. My verdict: It's a donkey that you keep.

I bought the S&S and canceled it a few days later after being convinced to buy an Octopus Pelagos homage, and the S&S dealer (which I used your link for) gave me a heck of a time to cancel my order (before shipping).

Shame about the Specht & Sohne. I bought the same one (with a blue dial) during the sale, using your link, and the watch I received did indeed come with a Seiko Mecha-Quartz, working chronograph movement. Seems like I got lucky!

I have that Lobinni in white and it's been my only dress watch since I purchased it. Short of suddenly finding myself able to purchase a JLC I see no reason to replace it.

Wow. I avoided the Specht purely for aesthetic reasons (way, WAY too much extra case going on around that tiny dial) but now I'm real glad I did. 😆

Me thinks that Specht and Sohne case would be great for a mod project Jody. Mayhaps a Seiko movement of sorts. Possibly an automatic movement? Idk just saying. 🤣
