I miss them more than any television chefs I've ever seen. There was just something special about each of them that turned absolutely magical when they cooked together.
I learned about these two ladies way too late, love them dearly and miss them very much!! I would have loved to meet these two woman in person! So very special..Jennifer💖
A sigh and a cry at the end when I realized how much I love these two ladies as they exchange funny presents and listen to the choir, that they’re gone. A remarkable pairing indeed. May we all cherish those special fleeting moments and the people that make us laugh and love and pray for those who can’t do either. Let us all raise a glass to them and in spirit become ‘Two Fat Ladies’. 🕊🙏🏼🕊
Agreed. I am watching it now the food I’ve always loved so much and their personalities were simply the best the ending always gets me especially the Christmas presents exchanging them the Chior singing. Always get a tad emotional
One of the best cooking shows ever. Two charismatic ladies...traditional English cuisine...calories and health content be damned. May they both be cooking up a heavenly feast for the angels. Smoke 'em up, Jennifer!
***** I agree. The food was hearty and plentiful. The kind of food that STUCK to your ribs. They seemed to have SO much fun.Jennifer and her beautiful manicured nails.RIP,LADIES.
@aud loves life --They have the chance as the rest of us have--- to finally one day be in Heaven with Our Creator Father -- Whose Son --His Begotten Son is Jesus Christ-- who sits on the right side of God. When we die we got in front of Jesus Christ as Jesus said---- No one goes to the Father ==except thru Me. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer.
I have such sweet memories of this show before my son was school age. My husband used to work very late & this used to come on later in the evening. My son would ask if he could sleep in my bed until Dad got home. We would climb in my bed & watch this every night. He still sings the theme song to it and talks about the show. He's almost 25 now.
I was 28 on the 30th october and remember this show with my granny ❤❤.. sad clarissa Dickson Wright died 2014 aged 66...and Jennifer died 1999 age 71 .. good proper cooking 💯👌 like my granny she was born 1920 and passed away 1st March 2008 aged 87 so she's from the same generation as Jennifer Patterson........
@@levimacdonald5188 My nephew was 12-13 when the two ladies were on and his unabashed delight in them just made the show that much better. He would come to my house on a regular basis for our appointment to watch The Two Fat Ladies. We didn't necessarily watch for the recipes, it was "personality" TV for us.
@@BlueRidgeMtns100 I agree. They were at ease with the camera and were so enjoyable to watch. You could tell how much they loved cooking and were funny too.
What a lovely taste of England! Not just from the recipes, but the words, the charm and the love that goes into those bowls. Greetings and love from Spain.
They couldn't call the program 'Two fat Ladies' now it would have to be called, 'Two Body Positive Ladies'. Its a real shame how the world has gone down hill, PC wise!
I love these ladies, miss them, watch them all the time in the US on PBS. I adore anything English, Scottish, Irish. Everything from the little cottages accents just everything! 😊🇬🇧
I do miss their attitude to cooking: using local ingredients, no pretensions, traditional cooking. Most of all, their cooking was not for those on a diet and they made no apologies for it. It was simple, if you didn't want their calorie-heavy cooking, go watch another TV cooking show! It was a simpler time.
To this day, my mother caters and bakes cakes for people. She has always told her clients, "I am a full flavor cook. I use butter, sugar, salt, whole milk, Crisco (that's brand of shortening for those of you not in the southern US), and heavy everything. I fat free or reduce fat in nothing! If you are on a diet, I ain't th' one." I've actually heard her say this on several occasions.
Just loved the the conversations these two ladies shared with each other. Loved their cooking stories and the motor bike. And Jenifer's fancy nail polish and rings. Could watch them over and over. Always entertaining! Rest in Peace you beautiful Fat Ladies!!💐👍
Used to love watching this show, such a shame they're both dead now. I used to see Jennifer all the time around Westminster. She lived in a flat in Ashley Gardens, and did her shopping in the Sainsbury's in Victoria Street. Great memories.
My youngest daughter and I used to watch these two ladies regularly. I also recommend Rosemary and Thyme, two ladies who are partners in a landscaping business. I hope there will always be an England.
We’ve been told by our intellectual betters that we need multiculturalism, so no, I suspect there will not always be an England. If there is it will be a patriarchal Arabic speaking one where women like this will be stoned to death for their “harlotry”. But as long as guardian readers can feel virtuous in their chattering classes middle class suburbs what does it matter?
For the last two weeks, whenever we're in the car, I tell my wife "straight through the arch to the cathedral close- the choir school is on the grounds and the headmaster will meet us there." She looks at me like I'm nuts! 😄
I cant believe Ive found this series on youtube, my grandmother and I used to watch this when I was a kid and she just got such a big kick out of them, she really enjoyed this series.Wow thanks for sharing. Very nostalgic!
LOVE these gals! Speaking as one of those "poor unfortunate vegetarians" ....I find it hilarious that the meat-free egg dish contains gelatin and anchovy paste....lol
The girls disapproved of vegetarianism, Clarissa (the one without specs) once said a vegetarian sandwich was ‘delicious, despite its vegetarian overtones’
These two ladies are certainly a treasure! Loved how they naturally congealed with each other and with the audience! No other cooking show has ever come close to this caliber!
Oh I am so happy to see this , my Mother got me interested in watching these two women's show. She passed away 9 years ago ON Mothers Day. This is the first time that I have seen them since she passed away. Oh I miss my Mom.
Would watch this with my kids...my older son just loved these two...and me too. This was the best cooking show I have ever seen...Between the great cooking and the comedy...it was fabulous...I sure miss these gals.
I was born in Winchester England and remember the magnificent cathedral as a child. I love these delightful girls and miss them but they live on in these posts and I have 2 of their cook books. Wonderful!.
My favourite cooking ladies of all time; I miss them, I used to enjoy their show. Their style of cooking may not be popular in this epoch but it's reminiscent of my youth when people weren't frightened to cook with butter, cream and salt. Delicious. How wonderful to find the ladies on RU-vid, thank you ladies for many happy memories. Enjoy cooking together once more in Heaven. 😍
These two were the real deal. How I miss them. Both highly accomplished and experienced cooks, they would put many of the tv chefs of today to shame. And they were hilarious. I love that they have no qualms at all serving alcohol to children! Younger me would have been delighted with this meal, which looks delicious and is steeped in history and tradition.
Loved them both especially Jennifer's devout , traditional Catholicism with her witty and eccentric sense of humour. Clarissa and Jennifer were one of a kind. Where are their like today ?
Growing up i watched cartoons like any kid but i watched these great women as well. Watching them When i was eight among other great cooking shows in the 90s are what got me in the food industry. U r missed Jennifer and Clarisa
Bittersweet watching this. Wasn't that long ago but England has changed so much so rapidly, and for the worst. I think enough of you know exactly what I mean. Very sad 😔
I truly believe that. They are reunited forevermore, cooking and enjoying eternity surrounded by Love, Light, Joy, Happiness and Peace...sigh...tearing up a bit.
I haven't thought of these colorful ladies for years. I enjoyed watching their show, and sorry to hear about their passing. I hope they are having a grand old time cooking together in heaven. RIP.
I have always loved these 2 ladies. I was always amazed and excited by their dishes and their communication with each other. They were as old school as they come and I miss them terribly.
I absolutely loved watching them. I bought their joint cookbook about 15 years ago which I continue to look at the beautiful pictures of all the different delicious foods they made. The dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, serving dishes, old fashioned ways of cutting vegetables, and fruit put me in mind of my British Grandmother...with much love. So sad they are gone...I wish PBS would bring back "The TWO FAT LADIES." "April 18, 2018."
So loved the ladies! Have several of their books....they already make me drool with their recipes....these are fab.....but the show with the onion soup with Stilton is wonderful.....thanks for sharing....have missed them!
"This'll fatten up our little choristers! Kee hee!" "They look like delicious little lamb custards with those frills around their necks." hahaha I'm getting some Hansel'n'Gretel vibes here!
I miss these two. They worked so wonderfully well together. Their food was just perfect and none of this modern fancy aggressive stuff you get these days. RIP to you both I hope your cooking up a banquet in Heaven. Dearly missed.
OH! How I miss this show on my local PBS station! :-( They were so posh, so brazen, so unctuous with their cooking, it was all so deliciously marvelous!
The ending of this episode was one of the best and sweetest... and from a cooking show! (I always laugh at Clarissa’s reaction to the cookbook and to Jennifer’s comment about the choir in their frilled collars❤️.)
Bloody Fabulous. What a great English treat. Take note young ones this is real cooking and real way to a countryman’s heart 😀 wish they were still here. And I could of had just one day with them 🍷🐿 rest in peace both of you and my the lord bless you with a fabulous oven in heaven
@@larkbird9247 I could tell she was a smoker by the way she talked. Most of my family have that nasty habit. I can usually tell a smoker by their voice, laugh, skin. It's a shame for both of them because I loved watching them. They were a hoot!
I remember watching this show. The local PBS station had the best cooking shows. I miss watching this show. They had such fun together. Long before cable these two cooked up a storm every week.
Why am I all teary eyed?.. just so painfully joyful on observing their beautiful friendship and their pure unadulterated love for delicious food!! To hell with calories!!
I miss these sweet, talented and hilarious ladies so much!!! Had to disagree, of course, with Clarissa's stand on the hunt, but supported her right to it. They were the best! RIP, Jennifer and Clarissa, you are both so loved and missed.
Wonderful, delightful ladies. Rich with knowledge. They remind me of two favorite aunts. God bless and keep them. I expect heaven is much livelier thanks to Jennifer and Clarissa.
