Two Giant Moose Face Off at the End of the Rut
Moose and Coffee with Flat Top and Dagger! This was an amazing day late in the rut when two giants came face to face.
We’ve been waiting to share this one. Libby’s narration will tell the story today but I definitely have a couple things to add for this event.
To begin, it was super exciting because we watched FT23 coming in and knew it was at least possible they were going to square off. It’s hard to describe how exciting it is when two big guys begin to head wag! So many factors come into play, and this is where I’ll attempt to describe why a bull “pulls the trigger” or not and accepts an invite. One thing is certain (and today’s encounter is included), it’s not always that one bull is afraid of the other. Flat Top ran the area this year, he’s the only bull the past two ruts that has been able to dethrone Swagger, something that neither Boris, 22, Left Hook, or even Dagger could do.
Some of the reasons for backing down might include not having the right vantage point to do battle, having an injury, all the cows in area are bred, the list goes on and on. In the end it comes down to this, we expect these two bulls to get to know each other a bit more in 2024!
