Falco died of severe injuries received on 6 February 1998, 13 days before his 41st birthday, when his Mitsubishi Pajero collided with a bus on the road linking the towns of Villa Montellano and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
"Rock Me Amadeus" was the only German-speaking / -singing song which was a number one hit in the US charts 😃 Falco was one of the few German-speaking and the only Austrian artist who ever had a number one hit in the US charts.
Wow....this one took me way back! I did not like the song when it first came out but after listening to it a few times, it grew on me. Girls, I love when you both start singing.....you put a smile on my face. We would have so much fun listening to all kinds of music together.....you girls rock! Your dad rocks too with picking this video...thank you! Love the artists the two of you have reacted to the past few weeks. Your RU-vid family can't get enough of the two of you. Another fantastic reaction! ✌👍 Have a wonderful weekend and please stay safe! Love & Blessings! 💖😘
Love your reaction to Falco! You two girls always bring sunshine, joy and fun to us viewers. The last and imo best masterpiece of Falco is the song "Out of the dark (Into the light)" with its now legendary songline: "Muss ich denn sterben, um zu leben? (Do I have to die to be able to live?)"
Hi girls! It's cool to see you step away from the metal for a change. Good choice for this song! Here's a suggestion for the two of you, check out the video by Wall of Voodoo called "Mexican Radio". Methinks you'll dig it!
Opus got their own Mega Hit called LIFE IS LIFE (Covered by Laibach) and Falco, the one and only Superstar of Austria....sadly died much too early...R.I.P. Johann „Hans“ Hölzel
1985-MTV played music videos 24/7 (and they also broadcast all 19 hours of Live Aid). I worked three jobs and didn't sleep much because I made time for MTV. Back then it seemed like the music and good times with it would last forever (also, you could get a good concert seat for 12-20 bucks). There wasn't a good reason to miss a great music act like Falco, or Sammy Hagar or Journey and so on. Thank you Mia and Juliet for keeping the music alive.
I didn't even know about this version with Opus. It's not that different from Falco's original, though. Opus themselves, by the way, had a big hit with the song Live Is Life.
Naturally, he had a long string of hits in Austria and Germany, but "Rock Me Amadeus" and "Vienna Calling" were his only top 40 hits here in the US, and as was previously mentioned After The Fire took their cover of "Der Kommissar" into the top 10.
cute .... how u react to Falco. he has a voice like Freddy, in my oppinion. but hes sing german with austrian dialect, with some english parts. he was unique
Unmatched and ahead of its time. In the words of Captain Kirk and First officer Spock: Space, the final frontier These are the voyages of the Starship Falco Its five year mission To explore strange new worlds To seek out new life And new civilizations To boldly go where no singer has gone before.
Falco and Opus... now you literally have to do OPUS Live Is Life. It was their greatest hit and also known in the USA and in many other countries. The genre (Falco also) is called Austropop (Austrian Pop). There were a lot of great bands and artists. But mostly in (often viennese) dialect.
I used to steal my brother's Opus album and listen to Live is Life all the time. I was scrolling comments to see if anyone mentioned Opus and Live is Life
One of the things I loved about growing up in the 80’s is the musical cultural boom from Europe and the UK. We learned so much. It took us from our comfort zone of R & B and soul and gave us more education than any school could. I’m forever grateful for music.
Hey girls, you are formidable! Yes, it is catching ! I am from the Falco generation, french. And I had the same enthusiasm as you when I discovered this song and especially Falco, who had exceptional voice personality. Don't hesitate to get to know him. He did great things in his short life, Listen to "der kommissar", macho macho, Auf der flucht, etc ... Timeless. A new Falco wave will surge. Thank you again for this moment full of freshness, spontaneity and accuracy!. Greetings, from France
Girls, your mom rocks!! In terms of songs that reference classical music artists you should definitely listen to the Electric Light Orchestra's version of "Roll Over Beethoven"! Also, any day you want to get into Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody is a wonderful place to start! You will never regret taking that first step!!!
So funny that you did this song. I just went to your channel to see, and it seems you have not done Take On Me by Ah-Ha yet. Why not? You gonna love it. Official video version only please...the animation is awesome. At the time it was made it was the most expensive music video ever made (computer animation), so think about that. Bigger than Thriller...
I was Twenty when this came out in those days I was a bit wild and quite 2 dimensional in my way of thinking I believed them to be a German band so taking into account that Germany bombed my family out of the east end of London I still held grudges so any German music would come int nothing but ridicule fast forward to today and my grudges have gone and you’ve just showed me a great reaction to a great band also Falco are Austrian my best friend Big Ray is half Austrian and half Jamaican how the world has changed Love the way these reactions bring back memories and that’s down to you Mia and you Juliet I’ll be forever in your dept Hail Dana’s Faith 👍
Yeah, Zu Geil( sorry for my german), FALCO - One of the greatest Superstars of the 1980s. First german speaker (he is from Austria) to hit No.1 in the American Billboard Charts (with this song). He died 1998. His real name was - Johann "Hans" Hölzel. Check out his other great songs like "Der Kommisar". or "Jeanny". Great Reaction young ladies.
Nice reaction. A song from the good old days. The song was very successful internationally. No. 1 for example in the USA, Great Britain, Germany and many more.
Please check out Emotional man, Out of the dark or Vienna calling from Falco. You girls are great. Greetings from Vienna,Austria. Do you know that Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is also austrian was born near Graz?
There needs to be a word for the feeling you get watching kids a good 40 years younger than you are showing the same enthusiasm that you did for the music you listened to at their age. If nothing else, it would save me a lot of typing.
do check out the video of this song, it is crazy. I like the studio version just a little tiny bit more..... but great that you review this, you are amazing.
Have you reacted to any Duran Duran songs? Hungry Like The Wolf, The Reflex, Rio, New Moon On Monday, Is There Something I Should Know?, A View To A Kill, Electric Barbarella, Union Of The Snake, Save A Prayer, Wild Boys, Ordinary World, Notorious, Planet Earth, Come Undone, and Falling Down are some of their hits. Please do Hungry Like The Wolf and The Reflex for starters. Thanks! Also, check out Fish Heads by Barnes & Barnes.
Hey ladies, welcome to New Wave music ! These were the artists and songs that dominated the charts during the heyday of MTV, that is, when they used to play music. If you're interested in exploring more, there are lots of suggestions below (including a large batch I added to someone else's comment). Most New Wave songs were catchy and radio-friendly, and you might find yourselves singing along with your Mom around the house.
English Translation: "He was a punk and lived in the big city It was in Vienna, in Vienna, where he did everything He had debts because he drank, but women all loved him anyway And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!" He was a superstar, he was popular He was exalted, because he had flair He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!" It was around 1780 and it was in Vienna No plastic money any more, the banks were against him Everyone knew where the debts came from He was a ladies' man, women loved his punk He was a superstar, he was popular He was too exalted, and that was his flair He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol And everybody's still screaming: "Come and rock me Amadeus!"
I bet you two would love Within Temptation "What Have you Done" And if you want to see the best guitar player to ever live, you need to check out Stevie Ray Vaughan in "Little Wing"
I was one of those kids that were obsessed with this song when it came out back in the 1980s. It was part of a cultural moment when composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was extremely popular. His music was everywhere, there was a hit play in London and then New York that had just become an Oscar-winning movie (called 'Amadeus'), and then Falco had this banger of a song. None of us knew really what the heck he was saying...but it was so infectious that it became a huge hit here in the US. There is an even better version of this song (which is actually Falco's...in this, he's just performing it with Opus) where he has a full symphony orchestra behind him and it just rocks! Other Falco bangers are "Vienna Calling" and "Der Kommisar" (there are two versions of that one...Falco's German-language one and an English one by After The Fire, both are really good!). If you like movies...see 'Amadeus' which is an excellent film with performances by Tom Hulce as Mozart and F. Murray Abraham as Antonio Salieri (who won the Oscar for Best Actor) that are amazing!!!
Great reaction. I loved that song in the 80s. Here is a song that is kind of different from what I've seen you react to, how about Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Fishin' In The Dark. Not sure if it's your cup of tea, but I liked it, personally.
