Wow, I think you're the first traveling RU-vidr I've seen who actually ventured into the very depths of the cave. I don't think I've seen that part of the cave before. I watched lots of adventurers stop at "Two Guns" and they all pretty much stop at the entrance. I am so glad I didn't visit there when I was younger because I would have felt so bad for the animals being caged up like that, poor mountain lion.
You know how they say a book is a vacation of the mind? That is how I envision going to these places like Two Guns, like Twin Arrows. Yes you are there physically in the present and seeing the ruins but when I go to a place like that I imagine the mountain lions in their cages and the people lining up to see them. Even if I can't actually time travel I try and use imagination to picture it. That is one reason why I love both books and seeing places such as what you are showing.
The cave was interesting to see. John, look as though you down went in several feet. Gave us a good look around . Glad you came out looking the same as you went in.😊
I'll be coming by there next week on my 4th Route 66 trip. For whatever reason I'm getting this and Two Arrows confused with each other, I guess they are close? Anyway, thanks for the preview. You're a lot braver person than me and others for going in the cave.
It’s actually called Two Guns and Twin Arrows. And yes there are pretty close to each other. I just released a video on Twin Arrows too. Both are definitely worth stopping for! Have fun - Route 66 is a blast!
The first time I went there I didn’t see the cave either. I took more time this visit and looked everywhere haha. Was hoping nothing was living down there!
Two Guns....lol Interesting place for sure....not sure if I have ever been by it or not. It's too bad that the gas station/tourist center had to shut down. I hate seeing places like this littered with graffiti and I'm sure you do too John. Again another interesting and great video. Keep on keeping on John!!
If you've driven on I-40 east of Flagstaff then you've probably gone past it without knowing. It's just sitting there right off the exit for anyone to check out. Yeah I agree about the grafitti. Thanks for watching!
@@TravelwithaWiseguy I've been through Flagstaff numerous times over the years. Love the area up there. Such a beautiful place. Next time I go through there which might be in a couple of weeks, I'll stop and check it it out!!
If I could ever have one of those impossible dreams come true, one would be to have the 10 mile stretch of Route 66 between Twin Arrows and Two Guns restored and driveable (as well as other sections) It is on the right side (eastbound) of I-40. The road bed is still there. Several books written in the 1990s mentioned that the then-owner of the area did not welcome visitors, sometimes to the point of a gun.
Way to not find the actual cave or just chicken out. It’s far deeper than you showed and has features man made and natural that would have been very interesting for the viewers. The spot where the dead native folks were found is a large flat rock deep inside. Also the owner operators, two different ones, of the attraction or desecration suffered an early death. Cursed? Some say.
Unless you can correct me, I went as far as humanly possible in the direction shown on the video. Literally I couldn’t go any further because rocks had fallen in. Or was I not in the correct location?
