I've been a fan of this channel for a while, Takao Suzuki is one of my favourite players of all time (I've tried to replicate my game perfectly to his). Having nishioka join as a guest is just as awesome, my friends all have two handers and they love this video!

This is the best channel for proper tennis advice! I love your emphasis on key points. Kiwa was able to improve her smash instantly and she plays beautifully. The backhand might be more tricky because it's hit with the non-dominant arm while the other one controls. How about gripping the racket for the two-handed backhand and then taking off the right hand (in her case). Then she hits left-handed forehands with grip high in the service boxes where she can focus on the point of contact. When that goes well she hits a few left-handed forehands from the baseline and then lastly normal backhands. You do awesome videos and this is my favourite channel. Coach Onoda is an outstanding player and Coach Suzuki still plays impressively. I love his quick movement and his backhand the most.

It's quite simple my friends, if you want more forward extension with your non-dominant hand, you need to learn to change the grip more with the dominant one. For example, with the dominant hand, you should teach a two-handed backhand as though you were teaching a one-handed backhand. This full grip change is one technical reason why Nadal is so good on clay, but it's also a more efficient grip on a fast surface. It's a stronger grip, and keeps the racket face going out towards the target better. This lack of grip change will always be a weakness in Nishikori's backhand. It should be taught on a child's very first tennis lesson. I did like the young ladies backhand, she stands so nice when she hits. Also, the loose and positive approach of the men is very motivating!

Great job Star Academy! Very nice videos! I remember well Takao as he was coached by a good friend of mine (Pistolesi). As an ex-national coach of a European federation, what I can observe on Kiwa's backhand is: she is gripping the racket too tightly, this is unfortunately promoting the head of the racket moving in too quickly rather than the grip end leading the swing. She currently has an outside - towards the inside movement of the racket head. She would need instead the racket's grip end to lead first (favoring an inside - towards the outside movement of the racket head). This would indeed promote the left arm forward extension that is currently lacking (as correctly Nishioka pointed out). Keep up the great job guys! :)

i feel like this is another example of difference in technique between men and women. just like the difference between most atp forehands and wta forehands. men tend to make contact a little further from the body. many wta backhands have the racquet close to the body at contact.

I am enjoying your channel so much. Thank you guys! As for Kiwa, you can also try pointing your front foot a bit forward towards the net instead of sideways. This will help promote efficient weight transfer and will generate more power in your backhands.😜
@K4R3N
@K4R3N 2 года назад
Problems: 1. Spacing (ball is too close to body) 2. More extension of non-dominant hand/arm 3. More forward weight transfer 4. Clean contact, feel the ball on the strings as long as possible (more flat hit) 5. Take back racquet more with the body turn rather than with arm movement. 6. Have a "mental image" what your shot should resemble and then practice it many times

I think, if she try to hit the ball with her left arm only... she would have her arm straight... Does this could help her image? Am I right? She could earn some strenght with one arm so her arm could get more confidence and some diference on her body sincronization having her none dominant arm lead being straight!!!

She had a dominant eye mismatch problem. Her dominant eye is on her left. She needs to train herself to use her right eye to hit her backhand. Also she had hip over extension problem. Her left shoulder is higher than her right shoulder on contact, thus jamming herself.

I like these videos but I find it hard to watch when the girl always has to act so embarrassed about her supposed lack of skill, and then when the men start off with some basic advice she has most likely heard from coaches dozens of times, she says "ohhhhhhh, ahhh, hai.". Just seems like such a chauvinistic vibe...
