Really blown away by Nathan’s ability to articulate what he does here. I’ve always used the “turn the door handle” phrase but never heard anyone else use it. Really cool to hear Nathan use it. His description of how he uses gravity and shoulder turn to get momentum and then incorporating the butt cap and hand/wrist motion for lag and spin is so good. And not focusing on the follow through but having it be more a natural result of the flow of a good kinetic chain is spot on.

So I’m just on day 2 of using this as a basis to modernize my ground strikes and really liking it so far! At first it felt like I was hitting a 2hbh that resembled David ferrer’s forehand motion…then it felt like a competitive ping pong stroke. But wow when I yep it off the rise it feels so locked in. Bonus: it’s also helping with my slice and serve, since it’s reinforcing good spacing and extension.
@fizykaliceum8454

It is the best two handed backhand for all amateurs. Right hand grip of Nadal, left hand grip of Djokovic and the path of the racket of Djokovic. The strings in each phase of the stroke naturally are directed were the ball should go. It limits angular errors. With these grips you cant hit the ball without spin even if you tried. I used these grips some time ago and probably I will change two handed backhand to that once more.

Intense. I love it. Need more Nathan. I would like you to get him to do “return of serve footwork” - for backhand body shot and forehand body shot. I think you have covered the typical forehand and backhand returns previously.

We have a 2 hander at Next Level University. Awesome topspin Nathan! I'd love to see how you hit your 2HBH when you're pulled into the net on a short slice or even drop shot from your opponent and have a short court to work with but need to do enough with the shot to make sure you don't get lobbed or passed.

@ajax337
@ajax337 3 года назад
@@PeterFreemantennis ok I watched the full video and love the drill at the end. I'd love to see exactly what Nathan changes when he goes from hitting a 2HBH from behind the baseline to when he hits the 2HBH from inside the service line. He talks about more hands for more topspin. Is that more hand speed, more hand movement, a different hand movement? perhaps just slowing down the forward speed of your swing relative to the turn the doorknob speed of your hands?

The problem I see with this drill is that the ball comes much faster and not from the side and 90 % of the times you are running not static ,is good to get familiar with the 2BH technique but not to a realistic situation in a match
@ronsterbenz8648
@ronsterbenz8648 2 года назад
Cesar I used to think that but the speed is not a problem if you control the racquet face like he shows. Coordination is everything and he is showing you how to do it here
@rickminda3351
@rickminda3351 3 года назад
why does he need to switch grips? on a semi western forehand grip, shouldn't you just "flip the hand" to be on eastern backhand grip?
@PeterFreemantennis

good question...but his forehand and his backhand grip are a little different in their positioning so he has to change
@techclub5837

From my experience, the 2-handed backhand's power comes from the dominant hand so that it's more like a 1-handed backhand than a left-handed forehand: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ELEfNZrg-qw.html
