I love Bob's cabins up there . It was older cabins and store closed early but for older people we really had a peaceful time hiking around there . No tv or WiFi and only radio was weather radio . Just listen to the waves crashing 75 ft from are cabin widow . Best I slept in yrs and I wanna get back up that way . Don't know if bobs cabins are still there it's been 10 or more yrs but ...
Two Harbors has certainly shifted gears in its concern for campers. In the mid-twentieth century, the town had no camping facilities, although one hotel, the Wakeya, was patronized by seasonal allergy sufferers who escaped late-summer pollen by staying awhile in the area. My family and a few other hay-fever sufferers parked our travel trailers next to the lake in a timbered area that had a water tap and some electric outlets on trees. The city collected five bucks a week for this. The toilet was in an actual city park a few hundred yards up a hill. The men and boys showered at the municipal power plant near the ore docks. We had a fine time with our runny-nosed friends in TH every August.
Was this Labor Day weekend?....seems a big crowded for a regular weekend? Maybe that's the only camping on Lk Superior? You scored the best spot. You need to get your Ham license, that would be an awesome spot.
No it wasn't Labor day.. It was just a regular weekend and actually it rained like crazy there the night before I got there and it was still packed. Like OMG crazy rain they all said. I really can't tell you what other camping options were available close by, it was just see a sign and check for opening. lol I do think I had the best spot there. Not sure about the ham thing for me.. I can't seem to sit still long enough to do that, but I do think it is cool for those that are into it. lol
@@lakesuperiorgirl1752 If I was to go there surrounded by friends I think it would be great but otherwise it is pretty crowded - if that makes sense. You are right, pretty much any campground on the shore of Lake Superior can be very "interesting" in bad weather - had that happen to me many many times. lol
Minnesota! The brilliant artist always known as Prince! & Yankee Prepper...(Watch out for him buzzing around on his bike..) Amazing how much muck a camp site is prone to... Living in a trailer is only a pay check away in this wild world.
That is great spot. By the water is best. I found private campground with elec and water for 20 dollars by river.... Too close shake hands with neighbor lol....space is king
You were very lucky to have that spot! We stay there at least once a year, love this place, but never thought that it was cramped. Seems like quite abit of room between campers, actually pretty spacious compared to so many others. The new addition is alittle tight. We travel all year throughout the U.S. many places have your neighbors awning 2 feet from your slide and your awning is 2 feet from the next camper and their sewer hose right below your window.....that is cramped.
I did feel very lucky and that this was the best spot at this campground. It is a beautiful area and obvious why it is very popular. I would agree that I have seen worse but still many of the spots were really really close. I have seen those places where the awnings may hit but will pass on by. lol After re-watching my video -- maybe I was a bit harsh -- I didn't hate this place at all and lots of nice people there. :) I just tend to be more of a fan of a bit more private. Plus, for me I don't spend a lot of time hanging around the RV so it isn't all that bad, no loud or rude camper neighbors. If I go back to Isle Royale I'd probably stop again.
Yeah campgrounds are way better than RV shows for looking at RVs. People usually will tell you the good bad and ugly of any types you may like. Yup there was dump station there.
This is why I waited for your review. I would never choose this campground for myself unless it were in a situation like you found yourself in. My two sisters love this kind of campgrounds so I can see myself visiting places like this just to be with them. It does look like you had the best spot in the place!
Yeah it wasn't bad for a night but I couldn't have stayed much longer than that. But as I've often said I really don't usually spend huge amounts of my time in my campsite during the day. I have family that RV's and the people at a campsite are often as big a reason as any for where they like to go - again nothing wrong with it just not my way.
Curious what site you got? We're looking at this place for a couple day start this summer & that was a concern of ours also, All the sites looked pretty cramped
