I am 86 years old. I grew up in Black Diamond, King County, Washington, USA! When I was in school we were taught "inches, feet, yards, miles etc" not meters, etc! I don't know the equivalent. I have nothing to let me know how to relate meters etc to what I was taught! It is very frustrating not to know just what the measurement is from what I was taught! I have heard all the words in the metric scale but it means nothing to me as to exactly what the measurement is in what I was taught.

Got stung my Portuguese Man-of-war tentacles in my youth at Padre Island (Gulf of Mexico). Even at that age, we were trained to be aware of seeing that "blue bubble" on top of the water. The bad part is,.... that by the time you see the "bubble", it's already too late. By the shore, the tentacles are not "trailing behind" but rather 20 to 30 feet in front of it. Had about 10 to 15 scars on each leg. So much that I did not even notice the 5 or so around my stomach and back. My same age cousin was struck the same. ... Never new a 12 year old me could spew so many curse words. Never thought I knew so many curse words. 😆
