That recurve is absolutely gorgeous, what kind of bow is that as in what brand hunting bow? God has blessed you as a great teacher, thank you so much for the awesome tips.

The way you describe shooting is exactly how I shoot. I can't even explain the accuracy besides I just feel it and I focus..I shoot shortly after I draw as well.. I really love seeing someone who shoots truly extinctively like I do... I just had shoulder surgery and can't shoot right now so I'm bingewatching archery videos and am happy to have found your channel! I am a horse archer first so ground archery is new to me but I'm loving it.

Good luck this year in the deer woods. One problem I see (especially) new shooters have. They seem to ALWAYS drop their bow arm soon as they release the arrow.

You are right about when you aim too long you have more chance of issues. I started to develop the odd flinch aka target panic recently from aiming too long/trying too hard. I did a session this arv shooting like you and found way more consistency and no flinches!

Always spot on Jeff! Thanks for another good video!! I have noticed one thing myself, and that is with 9 years as an Instinctive shooter, I become a Gap shooter. And the more Gap shooting I do, the more I return to instinctive shooting, with a glimpse of Gap shooting without thinking about it, I do the Instinctive shooting more and more, but somewhere in the back in my head there is a small Gap shooting left. Its funny, but it works good. When I see you shoot, I do the same I press my bower forward before I grip the string, and this make me shoot much better.
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
Absolutely I think it becomes instinctive aiming for most gap shooters at some point!

I have a tip for those suffering from Target Panic. Get the bow up. And look at the spot and then shift your eyes to your arrow and watch the arrow draw back. Don’t look away. Watch the arrow being drawn back. Then.. after you reach anchor, shift your vision from the arrow to the target. Your already at full draw now and anchored. Then just stare at the spot n pull through to release. It’s best if you start up close then work back. This is not the full cure. But it will get you moving in the right direct to beat target panic. Then your comfortable getting to full draw. Then you can move to a clicker or feather to nose or whatever you use to trigger the shot. Hope this helps someone out there. God Bless.

The one thing I love is the humility to never think you know it all. Great thing about archery is there is always more learning and always more practice to do........to achieve something that only the sky is the limit...........there is no end to it.....there is always better no matter how good you are. Its a personal goal. Your only competing against yourself.

Hey guys. First year trad have a couple questions to help me get better groups. Should I lock my bow arm? I’m having trouble getting the arrow under my eye. Can I learn this style of shooting with a slight nock away from being under my eye? Jeff you have helped me very much by taking to you and watching your videos. Good luck to everyone!! I shot 6” over a doe this morning. At least I didn’t wound it! Now practice practice practice
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
I never actually lock mine and rarely ever need an arm guard unless it’s a bow with a brace height under 7 3/4” or so, and usually if you miss a deer it over the back 99% lol aim low and you’ll never go wrong with the queen of the woods 😁👍🏻

Takes a lot of practice. I started at 10 yards with a 40 lb now. I’m 5 7 at 210. I could do 25 pull-ups at this weight. 10,000 arrows then to 12 yards 10,000 more 14 10000 more. Then started moving weight up. 65?lb bear super Kodiak is a hard pull. 30 good shoots then it degrades. 60 lb Samik sage is far easier. Good for 100 arrows.

At what point in your sequence do you establish alignment with your target? It would appear that it must be at the beginning or during your draw. For me, drawing changes my sight picture, so I must draw, then anchor while aligning (aiming), then focus on building back tension to release. This takes several seconds after anchor. Your shooting is amazing Jeff. Love your videos. God bless!

One thing that helped me out tremendously with pinpoint accuracy was my actual grip on the string. If I hold up my three shooting fingers they are all different lengths. I would struggle with not only pinpoint accuracy but a sore third finger. It didn't matter if it was a basketball or an acorn on the target I'd be right around it. I started putting my three fingers ready to grab string and making sure all were at the same on edge putting string in first joint on all three and it put even pressure on all three instead of my third finger being last of string.......deep even hook....

Would you consider your style "snap shooting"? I shoot fast like that as well but I also practice holding my draw for some time too, both still instinctive shooting. So in the field I can snap draw or hold for a while if need be. Do you ever hold your draw while shooting in case that situation comes up?

What is the speed of your arrows? I shoot homemade osage self bows that shoot maybe 150 fps. Your arrows appear to be much faster.
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
They’re averaging in the upper 170’s at least the ones over 600 grains, you’ll gain a lot going to lighter arrows for sure but I’m not worried too much about speed at least at this point however a 500 grain arrow does shoot faster and flatter just doesn’t offer the silent bow advantage like the heavier ones do 👍🏻

Jeff adding a selway quiver to the bow do you have to retune the bow
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
Not at all! It also helps to add just a little mass weight for stability and acts as a silencer it’s just a little different shooting with them on but you will get used to it really quick and probably not want to shoot without one ☝️
