This is amazing! Sam Larner was my great great Uncle. He was my Nanny Hilda's uncle. We sang the 'windy old weather' song at school! This is my nanny: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zxs2BX4U4Dc.html

I was lucky enough to meet Dick Green, Sam's nephew, many years ago. He sang me half a dozen songs he'd learnt as a boy, only one of which I learned, Maid of Australia. All were songs that he heard sung in the Fisherman's Return or by Sam. Wish I could have recorded Dick, he had some great stories.

I'm proud to have some Norfolk ancestry: Taylors and Shreeves of Great Yarmouth.

Interestingly I grew up here, wife's family in Catfield, and it's still hard to pick up everything being said. My dad says the ol boys when he was growing up were so broad he couldn't understand them, and he's Norfolk through and through.

@@TheFolkRevivalProject I did some tree work for the man (20 year ago), he brought us out a coffee and we got talking, eventually about music and he sang song after song. I learnt Maid of Australia of on him. Wish I'd learnt more. He sung Cruisin round Yarmouth, another good song.

@@charlierumoldboi3939 Wow! Make sure you teach the songs to someone and tell them where they came from!

First pictures I've ever seen of Sam Larner, despite having so many of his recordings. Thank you.

Love the way the interviewer asks Sam for foggy dew and Henry Martin and gets completely different songs.
