Hi there, I recently saw your video of these flies and would like to know if i can purchase the flies from you as they look great.

Leaping lizards that set of eyes & the flat spot it is on appeared like magic. Leaping Pete slow down I thought I was watching the flash versus Arrow. Not to mention buying my llama I near was hit by a road runner.
@surethingsfly
@surethingsfly 9 лет назад
Thank you Tossdart. The llama was a gift, it's excellent stuff, Turkey Marabou on its own would suffice. Good luck to you this year TD!

surethingsfly Ya & did it come with feed? Mine didn' t. Near kicked my head off loading it! I like a 71 Road Runner as well but coming at me in the wrong lane leaping Pete! What a guy won't go through for tying materials! Can you slow the placing eyes production down to a blurr. Couldn't tell was I watching the Road Runner on that part or Speedy Gonzales ;).

Excellent video! I especially liked the fact that your stinger hook is a single. I see so many anglers using trebles (no matter what) on pike all the time and they cant do the fish many favours, in my opinion.
@surethingsfly
@surethingsfly 9 лет назад
MrTatts64 Thanks for the input Mr.T! In my humble opinion I think that all trebles should be banned when using anything less than 30lb mainline. It's very frustrating having to remove other peoples traces. Nine out of ten times the pike will have a short length of < 20lb mainline hanging out of its mouth. It's my firm believe that a single hook affair is far more likely to land a fish anyway (when compared to a treble). In short, trebles cost fish...period! Tight-lines to you.

Always been a great believer in dark day dark fly...dark colours ' soak up ' available light hence greatly increasing the silhouette effect.Whilst glitzy patterns reflect available light much like a fry or small fish turning against natural daylight.Thank you for your kind comments obsevation and attention to detail equals success..Please feel free to visit my site at www.aghilliestale.com .. tight lines

Fantastic site John, I had no idea that you were of such mantle, congrats. You live and work surrounded in beauty a gillies fairytale, good for you. Since a few people read this I might add that in late November Jacks moved into the shallows on a big river. It was big fun catching them on long (6/7" inch) white minkie tale poppers. My daughter's presence might of helped ;) A few doubles were landed until mid December too, I live in hope for more. If more people fished the world would be a better place. BFN.

You seem to find as much joy in the tying of flies as the casting of them..that makes me smile..and it is certainly reflected in your videos. Good luck in the forthcoming year Peter.. and may your joy be unabashed.!! Best Regards - Jeff

Fly tying is quite enjoyable, especially when the action dies down in late January it keeps me going. Thanks for the good wishes and the same to you Jeff!

Nice flies will definitely be tying a few versions of the first fly. Hope you don't think I am being a bollox but I feel if you reduced the bucktail to a third of the amount and the same with the synthetic material but hollow tie it you could improve the fly, achieving a better pulsing action. Also get 3 flies for same material and easier to cast. Again not trying to pick holes 😊

Incredible work Peter, great to see a master at work. I have not pike fished much but will be making time for it this summer for sure, well actually like to ice fish them as well so hopefully before this winter ends. Once again incredible work, take care ...!!!!
@surethingsfly
@surethingsfly 9 лет назад
Thank you William for saying that! I'm no master though, give me time...lol! You're the first person who has mentioned the word summer this year. The thought of it made me smile, I cannot wait. Good luck to you!

Hi Peter,perfect colour combination,sihouette and so lifelike understandably effective ! mobility is all so important in portraying ' life like ' movement these flies have it all.. Superb action to trigger a predatory response.On many difficult days it is often appealing to the raw predatory nature of pike that brings success rather than simply offering up what would appear to be an ' opportunistic meal ' outwith their day to feeding habits on any given day or under adverse weather conditions ....Presentation is all important you're definately onto a winner here ! ..Have to agree with your thoughts on Sakuma hooks I use them for general sea fishing....All the very best for the year ahead.
@surethingsfly
@surethingsfly 9 лет назад
That's super feedback John, you have great attention to detail. Your so right (loose, fluid) "movement" above all is key. If the fly starts to fluff and puff on a retrieve the pike cannot help themselves. If it looks like it has a heartbeat the opportunistic feeders (as you say) smash 'em! A flies ability to push water in front is another, if there's little or no visibility. A black Minkie with a Turkey Marabou head hooked a Pike in near pitch dark conditions, only goes to prove that the darker the day the darker the fly holds true. Spring cannot come fast enough so I can popping for them once more. Best wishes to you John!

I've no idea as a friend gifted an unlabeled pack to me. To be honest I've no preference. On occasion I've tried straws from the inside of some spent spray bottles. I've found them to be quite adequate and robust enough for even large pike. Try them you will be surprised. Good wishes Michael.

Love yer videos. Plenty good info and keen as anything! As I'm pretty shoddy at the tying and not geared up anyway, would you consider selling me a few of these flies?

Aye. Sorry to be a pain. The link isn't working and if I go to your aboot page myself the address isn't there. Can't find any issues with my settings or anything. Not sure what to do.

Try doing it on a laptop. I've tried it and there seems to be no issue. On my channels about page, three quarters' way down it read "View email address" I clicked on it... If I post an address in this reply my inbox fills up with spam. Let me know how you get on. ATB.
