I pride myself on doing my own research and testing on my tips, rather than parroting them from somebody else's guide. I saw both a comment and a reddit post talking about dedicated theatres and the concept didn't even occur to me, so I wanted to mention them because I thought they were clever, but I do not take credit for the base idea. The monstrosity you see in the thumbnail, however, is my own creation :)

@@Pinstar But does it actually work? I tried that and only had 12 people attend regardless of how many seats I had. And it seems from several comments on this thread I'm not the only one that happened to.
@Pinstar

@@rodh1404 I admit I didn't test the theater concept. All my testing was focused on the minutiae of the events (like how long the buff lasts) In the time I used it for the thumbnail, it didn't fill up for me either but I didn't count the #of students who showed up.

@@Pinstar It's a great concept that sounds like it should work because using it as a movie theater does break the 8 person per room limit, making it seem to function more like a dorm. But testing shows it just doesn't work that way. At least, not for me. Having said that, there IS an interesting effect that happens when you show movies. Some people walk into the room and almost immediately walk out. They don't count towards the 12 person limit, but they DO get the buff, although I don't know for how long. This happens with single seat theaters as well as multi seat ones, but seems to be a bit more common with more seats. Or maybe more doors because my test involved having 2 doors for easier entry/exit. There's also some special events that only happen with certain courses. Food, jousting and cheeseball are the three I remember. Cheeseball in particular seemed to give some nice buffs.

Have you confirmed that you actually get more then 12 people in your theatre? I started building rooms with 2 sets of seats after seeing the Reddit thread however when I run a movie the room capacity still says 12. I even tried adding a third set of seats with no change. If you got it work I’m curious what I’ve been doing wrong
@rodh1404
@rodh1404 2 года назад
I tried the same thing with 5 sets of seating, and only had 12 people. The only other thing I noticed is that some people walked into the room and left almost immediately - but they got the film buff. Since that also works with rooms that just have 1 set of seats, it's not really special to multiple seat rooms, although it did seem to happen a bit more often.

I've been neglecting the events unless tons of students ask for a specific event, like 9 people want a horror movie. I didn't realize the buffs do more than just happiness and give entertainment. I think I may have to start doing more concerts and movies now. Thanks for this great tip.

I tried building a perfect campus on the first level last night. I've gotten a pretty good school running, but now it crashes the game on me everytime I play it. (Xbox Series X) I guess the game can't handle it when you get to a certain point.

When you are setting up the lounge party you can actually stretch the period its in out to two from one by manually pulling it. I never looked to see if did anything in game but it didnt raise the price. Might be worth you looking into.
@Pinstar

I did not realize this. Thank you for pointing it out. On paper, however, this would make those parties a little worse. While it is true that entertainment refills while a student is at the party, it fills so quickly that everyone will have full entertainment bars by the end of the party. Not to mention, the real reason to throw a party, the buffs, don't apply until the end of the party. A longer party would still only give you one set of buffs. The only real upside I could see is that students who have a personal want to attend a party need to spend a certain amount of time in the party for it to count, so a longer party would make it more likely that they fully realize the want and get credit for it.
@nategar412
@nategar412 2 года назад
@@Pinstar not to mention, a longer party just means that the same group of students will probably stick around unless they have a class, this taking up capacity and preventing other students from meeting their needs there.

This does help explain the different benefits of various events, but honestly I find them to be about as necessary and useful as the pastoral and medical rooms. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy this game and am putting a lot of hours into it, but parties aren't only optional, they are usually detrimental if you have a well-designed campus. If the game had a higher penalty for lack of friendship, or ... I don't know. It just seems like if you can keep food, drink, rest, and entertainment at a normal level then everything else falls into place.

I like to schedule Sci-Fi movies during summer break for just before the 1st class in all my lecture theaters. It really boosts the learning rate tremendously, and while t's not really necessary, I think it's worth the money.
@biancasumfinrandom1653
@biancasumfinrandom1653 2 года назад
The problem is this game gets really easy once you know what you are doing. So this makes them not necessary but still good if you want to set your own challenges like getting 98% happiness or whatever.
@rodh1404
@rodh1404 2 года назад
@@biancasumfinrandom1653 If you're playing it through for the first time, I think Spiffinmoore is a good challenge. The requirements to 3 star are tough without being crazy high. The rewards aren't that spectacular, but just playing the campus for the challenge is good enough, IMO. Every campus after that is either too easy or has tedious requirements to 3 star. Often both.

I find the scheduling system to be absolute chaos… the play next year check box is there… but I think they missed the mark by not giving a better / more comprehensive system to schedule these events at the start of a year… wish this was better Pinstar - two things: thoughts on multi-discipline training of teachers… reducing staff count to be about to tuition costs is pretty important late game for revenue purposes… so class choices and efficiencies here make or break. Secondly, course point plateauing… struggling to gain points to take courses into the highest levels mid/late game… thoughts on getting those course points?
@Pinstar
@Pinstar 2 года назад
I'll be putting out a video in the near future about the auto scheduler and its sometimes insane class ordering and how to try to force it to be sensible. Multi-discipline teachers: For a mainline teacher, not normally worth it. I only do 2 subjects if I have a dedicated private tutor or a researcher who might take a stray one-off class here or there. Course Levels: My current rule of thumb is level 3, unless the specific map requires you to go higher to meet your star goals. Level 3 in a course gives you a max level 5 teaching skill which is a very respectable 110% learning rate plus gives you a base of 20 applicants which you can trim down to the ideal class size of 16 and reap more base learning rate bonuses (or extra cash if you increase tuition)
