The two steps are as follows:
1. First Step: Transfer Order Creation (TO Creation): In the first step, a transfer order (TO) is created based on the outbound delivery (customer order) or transfer requirement (stock transfer) in the system. This TO creation process initiates the picking process but does not physically pick the items from storage.
During TO creation, the system determines the optimal storage bins or storage locations for picking the materials based on predefined criteria such as storage bin type, picking strategies, and proximity to the destination.
2. Second Step: Picking Confirmation (TO Confirmation): After the TO is created, warehouse operatives physically pick the materials from the storage bins specified in the TO. Once the picking is complete, the warehouse personnel confirm the picking task in the system using a handheld device, scanner, or through the SAP GUI (Graphical User Interface).
During the picking confirmation, the system updates the stock quantities, records the actual storage bin from which the material was picked, and confirms that the items have been moved out of the warehouse location.
