Merry Christmas and a very happy new year. I went a little crazy this past month in anticipation of stitching what I have in 2024. So I had to get all the things. Logical? I think not. 2023 $$$$. 2024 $.
My spending is minimal $. My local cross stitch shop has 1 or 2 sidewalk sales per year where I stock up and I purchase charts from 123 Stitch once a year! Happy New Year!
I’d love to tell you how much I spend on cross stitch, but that goes against my personal creed of never doing the math. But I’d guess $$, or somewhere between yikes and boingggg.
You guys!! I was in Phoenix for Christmas. I got to go to the Attic! Plus, ETSY and 123 Stitch know my name!! So! $$$$$ Collecting is also a hobby. Right???
Merry Christmas Carol and Jennifer! And bah humbug since we don't have snow! I feel I have a responsibility to keep my local quilt store and LNS in business so.. $$$$$+++😂
Y'all are so awesome!! Wow, all those finishes are great! I hope you had a very merry Christmas!! Happy New Year, too!! Oh, yeah, spending. Sad to say, I could probably have retired at 50 if I didn't have hobbies. I'm definitely at $$$$$.
Lol, I’m good at embarrassing my grandkids too, Carol! Sweet kids. Another fun Flosstube. Spending on cross stitch/quilting?? This year, 2023, was probably a $$$$. I decided that being I’m 76 though I better slow down and start sewing and stitching more from my stash. That’s what I’m thinking anyway. Lol
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I love watching your videos. Thank you for making them. How much do I spend on my quilting, stitching, and crochet? I’m glad my husband doesn’t read my comments…..I spend probably more than I should, but I do enjoy it all so much….put me down for $$$$. ❤️
No snow in CT either…sadly. ❄️ Hearing your story about candles reminded me of Yankee Candle in Deerfield MA. They had jars of coffee beans when you needed an “olfactory cleanse”… LOL. I’m for sure $$ but my wishlist is $$$$$…
Lovely to see your kids!! Oh, challenging question - based on what I can get done….$$$. I’m trying to only buy what I love, but there are so many! And. I love kitting things up. Thanks for all you do! 🥳 Happy New Year 🎉
I hope you both had a wonderful Christmas. No snow yet in Iowa. My daughter is trying to get back to Colorado and Nebraska is a mess, the interstate was closed for 16-18 hours. Your penguin wall hanging is adorable. I may have to add to my stash. $$$$$. My plan is to stitch from stash in 2024😂😂😂.
Every time I make a stitchy purchase I remind myself that I’m helping a small business owner, and in most cases, female business owners! 😊My monthly spending fluctuates between $ and $$$$$. I also count framing and retreat costs, not just supplies.
I am very controlled with my spending on cross stitch-/ mainly because I am retired and on a budget😃 I don’t have a LNS which helps 😂I really enjoy your videos and variety of projects. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your videos. Happy New Year🎉
$$$$$ Lol, my husband was the canoeing instructor at Boy Scout camp!! Hope your Christmas was great; mine is still going on. Today will be it, I hope! Carol, I found that wrapping a couple at time each time I went upstairs made it less of a chore! And, I actually finished before Christmas Eve, which was probably a first in 40 years!!!
I really don’t keep track of my spending but it’s probably between the $$$ and $$$$ range. I find stitching very relaxing and a great stress reliever. How can you put a price on that!🙂
Happy belated Christmas and Happy New Year! You have a lovely family, so fun to see the kids. Hmm, I’m guessing maybe $$$ maybe $$$$. I’ve never really counted it, but I hope to slow down and use what I already have this next year 🤣🤣🤣🤣who am I kidding. First cute pattern I see and I’ll be a goner. See you next time
$$$$$. Merry Christmas and happy New Year from you both and your families. The trigger is being pulled and all those $ with hopefully down to $ or $$. I spend funds on quilting and stitching stuff. I’m on a mission to finish lots of projects next year ❤
RE spending. I'm in Canada. That means that if I buy in the US, $1.00 USD = about $1.30 CAD. So I don't shop in the US (even online; the shipping's a killer!) I quilt, knit and stitch, and have been doing these crafts for 30 years (quilting), 60 years (stitching) and over 60 years (knitting). I've inherited yarn, fabric, sewing thread and stitching floss. Thus my main expenses are: patterns for knittng (not many, and I go for "free" for the 'squirrels' that catch my eye); for quilting (batting) and stitching (patterns -- free if possible; fabric as needed and the odd skein of floss). I've been given a great deal of DMC over time but there are gaps, and also there are times when I use up a colour. And then there is finishing. I can do my own flat-folds or pillows, but from time to time I either buy a frame (to do it myself) or have a piece framed. Hard to put an annual price on that -- but let's say $200 CAD or less on the framing option.
First, are my dollar signs= $$$ Next, I wish you both a Happy and Healthy New Year! For some reason I really look forward to even numbered years. Thank you so much for sharing such wonderful videos with all of us.
Merry Christmas to both of you and Happy New Year. My sewing and Crosstitch stash is ridiculous and I am going to try to do a know by January but to be honest, I got to give it $$$$$!🎉
Great to see you and your projects Ladies! Hope you had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year! I spend $$$ on my cross stitch and quilting! I am thinking of not purchasing any patterns this next year. Or a very limited number for both cross stitch and quilting. I have plenty to keep me busy for quite a while.
Have a wonderful new year ahead and look forward to next year with you guys. Love your videos and all the family news. The quilts are so fun to see each week also! I spend probably more on the $$$ side of dollars. It’s my most favorite expenditure! 😀 I used to quilt but just cross stitch now. Love you two, happy stitching!
Happy New Year ladies, and hope you and your families enjoyed a wonderful Christmas season. I live in southern New Hampshire and we've had a few flurries here and there but no snow for us either and I desperately want some as well. It's amazing how mild December was for us. Just love your beautiful finish on your embroidered snowman banner, great fabrics and it all looks wonderful together Jen. This past fall we had our first all New England quilt hop which definitely added to my spending on cross stitch and quilting together. So for this past year I'll go with $$$$. I'm going to try to stitch and sew from stash this year...wish me luck!! :)
Fun Video! In the past I have gone overboard on my purchases preparing for retirement. $$$$$ For 2024 my goal is only to purchase floss when I run out of a color and only stitch from stash. I have tried this before and failed miserably but I am going to try it again. :)
What a good way to see what people spend ! $$$$. Happy New Year’s! I have snow where I live. I’m ready for green grass but that won’t come my way till May.
I live in North Idaho and we have no snow either!! I don't like not having a white Christmas. We're supposed to get some tomorrow night, but you know how that goes. My hobby spending...oh my! A lot of it I purchased on nights I couldn't sleep...haha! But true 🙂 I'd say it's a $$$, because I've seen how much people spend, and I am nowhere near that. But I'm having a no buy year, except for the Cottage Gardens Samplings new houses/cottages. What was I thinking?! I hope that you both have a blessed and Merry Christmas with your family!
Thank you for a lovely video, I hope you and your whole family had a wonderful holiday, Happy New Year too! I always look forward to seeing you two ladies, a highlight of my year. I have a good mix of hobbies already and as a newbie to cross stitch I am trying to stay on the $-$$ level, but I can see how it can easily grow! I can't wait to see what 2024 brings!
Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Hope you have lots of family time and sometime to relax and stitch. I’d say my spending is $$$. See ya soon!
merry christmas! I have finished several smalls I finished stitching but there is beginning to be a pile of not fully finished objects lying around. But when I first got back into stitching I just stitched them and taped them on my closet door! I embarrassingly spend wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much on this hobby - so I will confess $$$$$. I keep all the receipts and told my hubby I did, NOT because I want him to look (oh heaven forbid!) but so he knows how much all this stuff is worth if something happens to me and he doesn't trash it or give it all to Goodwill! I was gifted supplies and equipment for punch needle at Christmas - like I need another hobby - however I feel better about it since I already have threads/floss and patterns from the PNPS magazine.
As long as you don’t tell my husband, who really never asks what I spend, $$$$$. He’s a good guy and knows my hobby is important to me, and encourages me to buy, especially if we stop at a needlework shop as we travel.
No snow in MN either, just raining. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ladies. I am a middle of the road spender $$$, one year not too much and the next year, oh my!
I am watching this after Christmas. We actually got a white Christmas. I was so happy to see snow! I need to get on the ball with my FFOing. I have a few finished that I want to enter in the fairs in 2024. i consider Cross Stitch to be my obsession. I am probably a $$$. It was great meeting Jack. Happy New Year!
I really enjoyed the recap video. To be honest I have no idea how much I spend a year on stitching but a guess would be $$$. Happy New Year to you both!
Thanks for another fun episode. When are we going to see the new doggie? So glad you've got a new friend. I mostly order online these days, so save up my order over several months until there are a number of things I need. My bill ends up being $$$ doing it this way, rather than being not very much if I were buying the things as I needed monthly. I only make several purchases per year so I'm not too bad on the spending front. Next thing, you'll be wanting to know my bra size lol. Take care, and happy stitching.
This is a hard one to answer. A lot of my purchases are done using gift cards. My family supports my stitching, so do I really count that as money I have spent? I think I buy quite a bit above and beyond those gifted purchases, but not near as much as I see some floss tubers spend. My quess is $$
Hope your holidays are joyful and fun! I am going to admit to $$$$ because I don’t want to believe that I’m out of control. My goal for next year is to only buy the floss or fabric that I need for a pattern that I have.
Merry Christmas - as always so enjoy your video. $$$$$ - or more I am also a knitter and love hand dyed yarn so a sweater quantity can get up there. My philosophy is get it now while I am still working so I am well stocked for retirement. I am also doing the reindeer block - I picked up the pillow kit and your right its not for the faint of heart. hope to work on it this week between Xmas and New Year. Have a wonderful New Year.
Carol, Yankee Candle makes some scented sticks that you can hang on your artificial tree to give you the pine scent. I use them and they are fragrant for the entire season. Since I am retired, I spend less than I did when I was still working - but, I still have been accumulating a lot of stash - so $$$.
If we are just talking about 2023 then I have to say $$$$. It was a traveling year with lots of stops at lots of shops. Have a happy and safe holiday season.
We haven't been getting snow in Utah this year either, which feels strange after the record snowfall last year. Normally $$, but this year I went to my first retreat so it was more like $$$.
$$$ I try to careful because i have been blessed to have what ever i want. I have plenty of projects to keep me busy after retirement Thank you for the inspiration
I have no idea but each time my husband asks if he can spend on his new hobby I say yes, thinking he's got a looooonnnnng way to go to catch up to what I've spent. lol
I have absolutely NO willpower when it comes to spending on stitching! $$$$$ and that has to get slashed next year!! Have a fantastic holiday season ladies!!
