Loved hanging with you at NAMM Electronic Sonic Madness after party (your set was dope!) Of course I had to come watch this after our convo! It's either going to make me stop jonesing for the Voltage Block, or I'm going to wind up eating up all available rack space with ALL of IT. lol And that will be your fault.

Very nice demo. The modular world is truly magical, but not easy to set up and use. You on the other hand, your handling is really excellent.

Thanks Jade! I think the varigate/voltage block is an outstanding solution to sequence things in a system. I have been thinking about adding a second 4+, but i guess i will go for the 8+.

thx for the tips 2 varigate. seems cool :), i would go a step further what about a common std for module interactions ..i alwyse have to hit save on 3 to 4 modules seems this the bad think on going digital in an original only analog playground from ~1970 where modular started :). anyway cool videos and explanashion, liked the smile when saying sequencer for 1k :) seems smiling let forget about the spended money ;)

haha sweet...! It´s always a battle trying to tune these type of modules..!! But you didn´t hesitate to fight with even 3 of them ;) Is there a position on RINGS which makes the tuning less challenging? Or any knob-setting you can recommend for easier tuning? By the way I like the black version of the varigate, didn´t know there was any..!

Rings tuning method Prepare module All connections unpatched (except for output) BRIGHTNESS around 10:00 POSITION not at min/max Green-Green mode (monophonic/modal) STRUCTURE @ 10:00 (align with the node on the panel) Coarse Tune Set Damping to maximum Patch dummy cable into STRUM Pull out STRUM-drummy to trigger a long note Tune FREQ to get close Fine Tune Keep Damping to maximum Patch 2nd dummy cable into V/OCT Pull out STRUM-drummy to trigger a long note Tune FREQ Attenuverter (fine tune) to get exact the r beny downshift trick Turn FREQ fully ccw and use fine-tune to get it in-tune to C. This keeps it from being accidentally knocked out of tune. If you need a higher range of notes, FREQ goes up in semitones with V/OCT patched. If you then mark the panel where the octaves are, as long as you leave V/OCT patched, you can then use the octave markings to quickly raise the octave to the desired register!

I wish the 8 didn't have half the cv outs of the 4. I hate sequencing melody on voltage block it totally sucks. I just want a 16 step varigate with 4 cv and 4 gate

Would be cool to have the list of modules 1 to create the same modular as yours 2 cause I m a Big Zero in Modulars 3 cause I got very bad eyes to make that list THANK YOU JADE

What is the easiest way to get to 4/4.......... use the LED graph ? ......and observe the LED bar graph ? First I'll go gate "prob" as full 100%, then I might dial that back, after I figure out a master melody/drum beat.

send any signal over power rails is an awful idea, even good switcher supplies can be noisy and interfere with this - can you imagine doing a live set and having your clock freeze or come outta time...XOR electronics does it correct

I think I had a defective Voltage Block freeze up on me before, but once I replaced it I haven't had any problems, been using them for 3 years.

actually I didn't enjoy the Varigate for performing, setting notes to the exact pitch is a pain in the *** and the CV doesn't hold its voltage until the next active gate, so you end up having some sort of arpeggio if the envelope's decay is too long. Also you can set a scale but not the root note, thus making it impossible to set a specific scale that you want. In the end it just fulfills the role of an "esoteric" sequencer that kinda excels at random 8-step (or shorter) sequences. Very unpredictable. Also you are kind of forced to use the Varigate as master clock since it has issues with receiving clocks and resets, I've had such a hard time making it sync and reset correctly with pamelas new workout. That said I just would like people to beware of the flaws before committing to a buy, sorry Malekko but I know you can do better, what about bringing out an update at least? X_X

If you want to program non-random melodies get something else. V4+ is nice to experiment with but quite limiting when controlling 1V/Oct CV.

@@phyphedelic3214 get the Varigate if you want a compact gate sequencer and once in a while use the CV but don't expect super precise / reproducible patterns.
