In this video I explain the importance of painting in two separate modes. Workflow one and then workflow two. For more about the paint that I use visit: genevafineart.com To watch all my free videos go to www.drawmixpain...
Mark, you are a brilliant teacher. I'm a professional painter and have been for many years. I've never heard anyone explain anything as clearly as you do. I am so impressed. Helen Rundell
I am so sorry about your accident! Glad to see you seem to be ok. I have watched your videos many, many times. My works have improved a lot because of your lessons.I cannot thank you enough...Best regards from Spain.
Glad you're feeling better. You actually can't see the stitches :) Thanks for your videos. They are great! I have a suggestion for a video: how about how to inject colors into flat areas (skys, blown out skin on models faces, blacks/shadows, etc)?
Thanks a lot for all your great videos. I learn a lot and appreciate the time and effort you put in making these videos. Please don’t apologize for delays!😂
Hi Mark, thank you so much for all the lesson. I am glad your fall was not too serious 😌. Any chance in the future lesson on how to mix gold/silver/ brass using the limited palette?
I'm glad that you are okay. You should never feel like you have to make videos for us, you are already Basically a saint because you have provided to to thousands of painters with FREE KNOWLEDGE. Good man.
A carder video is one I can hit the like button before I'm 10 seconds in to. As a new painter, I really need to keep rewatching your videos, to remind me of the mistakes or how to avoid them. Thank you and stay well!
Sorry to hear you got hurt Mark, and glad you are back now...Very timely video--I'm about to embark on my first proper oil painting this weekend. How long a journey to get to this point! I feel I'm well prepared thanks to your wonderful videos which are so informative and inspire confidence. So, get the values right and fiddle later. Got it.
Have you specked the pottery supply chain for sourcing quantity pricingon chromium, Cobalt, red iron oxide, titanium? Big bags Fe Ox. You should try red iron oxide as an under coat or color option with Walnut oil. You can mix the paint/spirits like 15- 30/70% for canvas coat. Covers but not to much. You could mix straight dry iron ox with thinner. Won't take much that way. The other burnt sienna. Old school.
Thanks for your fantastic series, Mark! I have a question for you. There’s a kind of scientific logic to your method, an objectivity reflecting the old truth that great art is about ten percent inspiration and ninety percent perspiration. Your method, perhaps unsurprisingly, is an identical analogy to the process by which a great string quartet is built. Like the color checker, the tools that keep musicians objectively honest-and I notice that, both artistically and personally, you’re interested in empirical truth-are the metronome and the tone-generating tuner. My question to you is, do you find widespread personal resistance to using a color checker? Many musicians feel that their artistic liberty and creative license are impinged upon, and adversely affected by, objective guides. My own musical method, like your artistic one, initially got our quartet to Carnegie Hall, earning excellent reviews in the New York Times, but after that the group quickly jettisoned it as too confining. We’d also had some early coaching by a world-famous quartet in town, encouraging us to “let go of the banister.” I’d be very curious about your thoughts, after your having taught so extensively and, in my view, brilliantly, about whether “artistic license” is possibly a fig leaf for something else?
if you color match flesh tones carefully against your skin, you can paint over the scar and nobody will notice. dont be afraid to paint ugly. flesh tones are surprisingly uneven.
In our area we say: Thank God for your safety. And also: the lion with a scar , is a brave lion. With a wonderful person like you, you will make a change for the better
HALLO Mark. I follow your classes and wisdom all the time here in South Africa. I got rid of all other collours and only mix as you tought me. l tried to buye your basic kit but was told that you dont supply to south africa. Please reconsider ..... we have some world class artists here as well as African art that you should check out. I think you will love it. Continue to share yourlove of art with us. Danie
I am not painter at all but I am following your lessons here. In course of the time I have seen some people making videos how to but just with following your videos I see that many have no right to teach anyone.
I absolutly LOVE the quality of your work. I have a problem of trying to cover the canvas way to fast and not taking my time as much as I should during color mixing. Thats my challenges.
Mark Dear sad to know about your injury. Hope you are alright?? I also fell on road 2014 I'm a soldier of Pak Army and my shoulder came between my body!
Glad your all right Mark. Maybe that's why I started going bonkers 2 weeks ago. I gotta work on that. No wonder P.W./Jane went asmr breath all ready ninja bat woman. I gotta work on that. No Bose speakers in the study lol?
Deseo su total recuperación.Aunque entiendo muy poco el idioma ,lo sigo, capto dificultosamente sus valiosas explicaciones-Muchas gracias.Saludos desde Argentina-
So sorry for your accident but the good news is that that your eyes were not affected.Thank you for making this video with very important practical advice.
As always, very clear, very focused and passionate about what gives the quality of high realism. I love to watch your lessons. and I learn a lot even if my painting style is abstract, imaginary and expressive
Values are so important for new painters. Do you have a video where you go over just values and how to systemize your approach (tips, techniques, etc.) so that what you talked about in this video is referenced better as a visual example we can see?
Your videos are very beneficial. I live in a place where art is usually not appreciated and I struggle to get artist advice as such. Thank you so much, I hope you are feeling better now.
your videos are a gift, thanks so much for being such a generous artist with your knowledge. i love the directness of your instruction and this video was very helpful. a blank canvas can be very daunting for me, a beginner with oil. glad you are on the mend.
Here in my country i cant get good quality canvas .also i have old oil paints .they dont spread easily even after adding linseed oil.plz advice wat to do
I'm glad you did not suffer too badly. Head injuries can go very bad sometimes. Thank God all is well. God is good. I fell a couple years ago, and broke my ribs. I was in agony getting in ,and out of bed. Thank God for quick recoveries.
@e hisamova what are you talking about really you must be one sad soul if you have to correct someone who is complimenting an artist by saying what a talent he is. talent exists period it is a gift from God if you are not meant for that well thats it you can work your butt off as hard as you want heres an example do you really think just because someone likes to fight and trains hard he can mess with a more gifted fighter just like that no man he cant thats why its called talent. Inside the cage with a really gifted fighter let it be a lazy one he will laugh at him all the way to the hospital i saw that so many times dont come at me talent doesent exist!
@e hisamova ufff let me catch up with you another time this seems like a fun one haha i want to take my time for what im about to say next. btw i wasnt talking about superior physical attributes au contraire but as i said i will catch up with you ;)
