Had my Gravely pro z 52" for 5 years has the Gravely motor and it has been a great work horse to keep all the lawns cut and use it to bush hog my island property.

Thank you for the video. Nice review. I have the same mower, same deck size. Mine is set up with the mulching kit. I am going on my 3rd season with it. All in all, it is OK. But its only OK. For what I paid for it, I guess expected a bit more. I love that its made in the USA (they do use foreign components). I agree, it is a workhorse. Very reliable. No problems there. I am having the same issue with one wheel. It breaks traction constantly. The other wheel is fine. Very sure footed. Still looking into why this is happening, it really is a pain to work with in tight or precarious areas (I mow around a large pond and an apple orchard.) Being a mulch setup is a love hate deal.. No bagging, but if its long you either have to make multiple passes, or you have grass clippings all over the yead. Leaf cleanup needs another solution. I currently use a Billy Goat, and an older John Deere with a bagging kit. Cut quality is decent, I keep on top of the blades, but there are times where multiple passes are required to really get a nice cut. A newly developed issue is a bit of a gap between blades not cutting well. This is most likely blade related. The deck is super solid. Ride quality. This is where this mover really fails. This mower will shake out the fillings in your teeth. Its a shockingly rough ride. My lawn is fairly manicured. I'm not mowing pasture at all. However I am at a point I feel in should be wearing a kidney belt. Its a heavy mower, but it will still jar you to the bone. I do not have the issue when I use the Deere, or when using my old Kubota. All its all it's a nice mower. Its fairly trouble free, and does a decent job. But at the 3 year point, I am considering trading it in on something else.

Good to hear another perspective on the mower. Thanks! The wheel thing has me stumped as well and has left me stuck in a few spots.

I just purchased a new 2023 Gravely ZT HD 60 on 03-22-2024. Model number 991272. Got a very good deal on it. Never owned anything Gravely. I’ve had 5 Hustler mowers over the years since 2010. Have you had any problems with your mower and how many hours are on it? I read a lot of great reviews on the ZT HD. It’s Gravely’s most popular selling mower.

I haven't had any problems with mine other than some adjustments to the bars and parking break. It's definitely been a beast!

Hi, Try sharpening the blades with a file. Grinder is putting a curve on the edge making the material thinner at the point. I’ve gone two years sometimes without sharpening.

I have 54 inch with a bagging system and I mow about a acre of a really rough lawn with all kinds of dips holes and I love mine but do not think the bagger will work well With leaves but I got a cyclone rake for leaves I think this will work well

I agree with you, first pass cut high, second pass cut lower! Even if you would cut low on the first pass you would still have to cut it again…. Maybe try a “high lift” blade? Even so, in tall grass I always make two passes. Just the way it is!

Blades. The pros will sharpen the blades once a week, or maybe more duriing the season. Actually they just have a bunch of blades ready to go. I have a 2015 48 inch zt 48HD has served me well. About 250 hours. It has the sealed transmission, and I think it is probably or is shot. Might just be a service issue, but if I am wrong then it's 1500 shot for the service , or I can spend another 2300 for a new transmission. Not unhappy it has served me well. But the deck has never cut grass as good as my 2006 JD Z-track 60 inch. The only other issue I have had is when making turns it would turn hard on one wheel and spin leaving a bald spot. I think it was the transmission or the fact that we don't have a good bed of grass with a nice base ( thin ). been using zero turn since 2006 and it never happened with the JD 60 inch, but that mower had a separate pump for each wheel. I think Gravely has made some very good improvements and think I will buy another one. Very good mower for the price point.

The reason your right drive wheel slips is twofold. One, the gas tank is on the left side placing more weight on that side, and the second reason is that the left front caster arm is much more straight than the right arm which also places more weight on that caster tire than on the right side and at the same time takes some weight off the right rear tire. They do that for a specific reason, (straighter front caster on the left) which is to try to keep the grass that gets bent down by the caster tires before being cut by the blade in line with the back swing of the blade so that it is cutting in the opposite direction that it was bent over. JD commercial mowers are very similar in design on both of those features and they suffer from the same thing. Being designed like your mower is, places more weight on the left rear tire and on the left front caster tire when compared to the right side. You should be able to park the mower on level cement somewhere and then try to rotate the left front caster tire by hand in place and then the right one and should feel the right side to be noticeably easier to rotate (in a circle as when reversing etc, not in a rolling motion). I switched from turf tires to AT101 tires and just about totally eliminated the slip problem. These tires look like they'd do damage but they are designed specifically for zero turn mowers and actually do less damage once you learn how to drive with them. I hope that helps you some.
