Every summer while I was in college I worked at a greenhouse/garden center and when we'd plant flower containers we always followed the same pattern and I bet it would work for vegetables, too. So, in your pots and grow bags, plant something that grows slim and tall in the center and then go around, rotating every other position, planting something bushy and then, something trailing. This will ensure plants aren't fighting for sunlight and everyone gets along. :)

Becky, I know this probably isn't the year to do this with everything you have on your plate right now, but you can over winter your peppers by digging them up, cutting them all the way back, and potting them. It gives you a head start for the next year when you stick them back into the ground. It might be something to try in the future, since you love peppers so much. Your garden is lovely! 😊

It's not the 'tomatoes' and 'peppers', it's the 'peppers' and 'green bean' combo. Green beans prefer neutral soil while peppers prefer slightly acidic soil. Peppers and tomatoes are in the same family so they have similar growth requirements. While Tomatoes & Green beans share some of the same needs, they don't necessarily make good companions; however, you can grow them together (as you've found out).

Please don't ever be embarrassed. You don't know how important it is for some of us to see things that are far from perfect and that it's okay, and it's okay to be okay with it, even the stuff that is really bad or has really gotten away from us. I think beating myself up for perceived failures is a big reason I end up getting overwhelmed and lose my ambition and drive to tackle things. I wish we could normalise these things more. Your grace and gratitude for what you do get out of your garden has been a huge inspiration to me. I challenged my black thumb this year because of you. And boy, it's been a harshhhh learning curve. But, today I ate a sandwich with my first fully ripe beefsteak tomato and it was AMAZING. I grew that. Thank you Becky 🌿💚

You can tincture the flowers, leaves and stem too! Or dry for tea. You can also tincture the aerial parts of the plant. Save that tincture and then tincture the roots in that same alcohol making it a powerhouse! You can even add the seeds! Don't let all those flowers go to waste!!! 💚🌱💚 You have some beautiful self heal in your garden as well. Also great for tinctures and teas!

If you transplant them just make sure you take some of the soil that they're already in and then put it in a hole in your new house and that way when they grow The Roots will get used to the new soil at the same time

In the new house are you going to separate your produce and flower beds? I think you should transplant at least one of your blueberry plants as well as the herbs and medicinal plants you have in your garden. If you do get a greenhouse or even a growing tunnel you may find growing the ginger/turmeric easier in respect of starting the growing process. But this is someone from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 saying this! Good luck with the house move. Remember to rest when needed 🇬🇧🙂

You definitely need to transplant your flowers! Most, if not all, of your flowers are perennials. There is a lot of money and love in your garden so make sure to take as much as you can. My parents moved to China (for my Dad’s work) for 4 years and before they sold their home they transplanted at least a few of every variety of my Mom’s perennials to our home for a temporary home until they moved back. Now, not only do I have a beautiful floral garden, but my Mom has all her original plantings. Do you have family or friends to come help with your garden this year? You have so much on your plate, plus growing a tiny human. If I were closer, I would volunteer to come weed and help you harvest just for the fun of it. Love the garden tour!

We have had an epic cucumber season. We planted 12 plants, 6 didn't make it. So 6 plants are giving us a gallon bag of cucumbers or more per day. I am overflowing with them and have canned so many, I am now giving them away. I love your garden and can't wait to see what you have planned for the new house. Hi Becky. I'm looking at your corn right now. Have you ever heard of the three sisters method to grow corn? You plant the corn with pole beans and squash. The corn supports the beans and the squash smothers out weeds. I've always wanted to try it but was not able to garden this year. I've been enjoying your channel so thanks for all these things you share. : )

That works well if you can find the right spot for the sun. My father did that and it works well for a kitchen garden during the season. We still had to bring in corn to put up. I liked ours better.
@dorothyrhodes4657

The only problem w that I found is you can't harvest sweet corn to cook til its dried out. Otherwise you trample your other 2 crops
@shaunballard3614
@shaunballard3614 2 года назад
@@dorothyrhodes4657 What if you put a foot path in certain areas around the corn? Even though the squash would spread out and cover them you could gently move them aside to get to the corn. I like your comment because it hadn't occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to get to the corn. So, I'll have to think about that next spring! Thanks for the good info.

Hi Becky. Those green coriander seeds are AMAZING to use in the kitchen too! Crush them a bit and use them in salsa, curries, salads, white fish dishes, preserve them in brine or ferment them. Delish. They are technically the green fruit that surround the unripe seed so they have a flavour between cilantro and coriander and add an almost lemony zing to dishes. Give them a try.
