I'm currently building a set up for my canoe. I built one once years ago where I would use a beat up kayak for a big pontoon stabilizer hard mounted and retractable. However the setup has to be motorized. It is detachable in the canoe has pontoons. But I think this time I'm going to go with a two-horse gas motor. You can put any sort of boats together of any size I've found out. But the only way I have made it work is by keeping the motor at the back and closer to the larger boat. And make sure whatever your motor is mounted on is solid.
I found everything you said to be trui as well. in this video the two mini pontoons sunk with 6 horse gas but worked well with electric. Ratchet straps are a great instant union solution.
Hello I am building a middle section out of pallet wood- your design features are really helpful. I'm the president of a local Boating club and actually hoping to use my middle section as a dual purpose standalone raft. I have two kayaks of different size- will this be an issue?
I thought I replied to this, like the latest comment on this movie we both have found no issues with different size boats. Placing the motor closer to the larger boat will give better directional stability. Motor on!
Do you have any kits for making a 2 canoe/kayak sailing cat with daggerboard and all? If not any suggestions on what kit you have for conversion for sailing? Maybe using a Hobie 14 or similar sail and mast, or even one from a sailboard? Thank you.
