Construction Log: Custom redesigned 1/144 scale starship Tauriel. This was developed as a "superscout" modification to the original Archer-class scout designed by Masao Okazaki. Using a now out-of-production cast resin 1/144 scale kit, the video includes highlights of the construction process to the finished physical miniature.

I've always loved Okazaki's work on the Starfleet Museum; great to see them realized physically!

Maybe it's just the sleazy, jazzy soundtrack, but she looks like the kinda ship you don't take home to meet mother. Masao must be proud that his awesome designs spawn such awesome models.

Beautiful work! You took a design I was never all that fond of and made it something I wouldn't mind having on a shelf, or in my head-canon.

Not a classic or stereotypical Starfleet design but goddamn she looks good. She’s got some bulk to her, but it works with the superscout. Another beauty!

Lovely work! I had to slow the video to 0.75x to fully appreciate the process 😅. That aft starboard profile shot at 5:28 really struck me, the way the decals contrast so smartly (just like ships of a certain era did) with the hull... immediately put me back into that feeling of wonder like when I first saw a Miranda class starship.

@@TychoYard I'm slowly getting back into building models. Your work is a great inspiration for me. A quick story~ back in the 90s I worked at a high end printing company in Springfield Massachusetts. In the basement was the 4 plus color film storage archive. Along with film there were printed samples from past jobs. Looking through the material I found a few boxes of Ships of the Line from a previous client. One for the Akula class and one other that had the warp engines and support pylons attached to the bottom of the secondary hull. I have to dig them out, been stowed away for 20 years at least.

I haven’t. I’m typically building ships of my own design, occasionally a modified version of an established craft.
@acebrandon3522

I always thought the phaser battery content was too low for this scout. Now that the Superscout has ventral batteries for aft, port and starboard arcs of fire is way cool, now. That the photon launcher bay had been enhanced is way cool too.

Could you do a tutorial on forming a ship from styrine up , how you make domed sections also how you make your decal sheets or do you design them and have them printed elsewhere

You may want to check out the build log of the Javelin, posted last week: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2ceOdARKMNc.html I will sometimes print my own decals but if white or metallics are involved I have someone I know with better equipment print them for me.
