This video is a true flex imo. You took the common feather, at least in north America and tied a simply beautiful, beautiful fly. Very cool man. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have a different style completely but I learned so much from you. Thanks for that.
Davie this another great video, and you are keeping this traditional tying alive thank you. Can I wish you & your nearest & dearest all seasonal best as well as all your subscribers Merry Xmas cheers steve
Hi Davy ,as per you just make my T break 😅. Pop that in a glass of water and it'll swim away. Love it ,really do. Did I miss the hook size and type. Apologies if I did. All the best for the festive mate. Thanks again.
hey Davie! Great video as always! Would you be interested in making a video of your favorite flies? Maybe your favorite flies to tie/fish for each species? Thanks for all the great videos you make! Cheers
Hi @NLFlyFisher, I'm working on a box of my best flies for this season for the monthly draw though most of them are on RU-vid but I'll see what I can do and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie
Excellent pattern Davie! If you havent, will you tie a fly using calf body hair? I recently got ahold of a patch of the stuff, its ultra fine, and the hairs are about 2 cm long, maybe 3cm, and its very difficult for me to work with. Its so very white I thought it would make great wings on an emerging midge of some kind, or a para post =) Thanks as always!
Greetings, I have the stuff as well. The hairs on my patch are quite curvey but the length may be a tad longer than what you have. I have had success with pinching clumps and attaching to flies as wings without stacking, and also after stacking. When I stack I use my smallest stacker. Wings never look terribly "lined up" when I tie with this material but the flies float very well and look the part. I tend to use these hairs on 16-12's. Hopefully Davie has some more input on the matter. Hope this helps!
Hi @HalfInsaneOutdoorguy, I mostly tye bombers and Coachman patterns with the calf body hair so I have attached a link for you to see, I've run out of the hair so I hope this is of some help to you... All the very best Davie ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t2tFeNnQ_jg.html
