Thanks Davie for your wonderful videos. I use fly tying as an escape.I have 11 years of recovery from alcoholisim Many thanks Davie I have learned to keep the corks in the bottles. And I have found fly tying as a road to recovery.I appreciate you very much.

Oh I like that. One cdc feather for a tight wad like me. And the Organza to make it easier to see sounds great. If I can get off in the next week or two I'll try it for the sulfurs here in West Virginia.

Hi Davie: I have not used organza for spinner wing but like the idea. I have a few patterns that use CDC in combination with Z-Lon, which works well especially when simulating a drowned spinner. Perhaps organza will kick it up a notch so thanks for idea!! Ouzel

Hi Davie Just like I thought may happen I ordered my new Regal Revolution vice. And now the Law in show perfect condition is on auction on Ebay . two thousand seven hundred American was the last bid. A bit steep but I can imagine its worth every penny it sells for.

I know this is an old video but im surprised no one has tried making organza wings for a mayfly like how they make burned wings exactly the shape and size of actual mayfly wings. Would think you could cut the shape and then use some flex seal to keep the fibers together on the cut edge then tie in the base and leave the binding as the tie in. Apparently it either has been tried and doesnt work or everyone has overlooked the idea considering organza looks close to actual wings.

Great looking spinner mate. Can you go smaller than a size 16 my friend? Thank you so much Davie for sharing another great dry fly that will get those big boys hitting. Best Regards, Ken

@DavieMcPhail 6 лет назад
Hi Ken, I've tyed them down to a size 20 on the ultimate dry fly hook in black nickel and it's ok..It's also worth using two cdc feathers instead of the one on some of the bigger flies and if the feathers are a bit thin on fibres...I'm glad you liked this one.. All the very best Davie

Hi Davie great video as usual and as always you make it look so easy, Davie could you please tell me if you have had any problems with the Fullingmill hooks as I have had most of the various hooks opening up on me and causing me to loose many fish.All the best Peter.
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 6 лет назад
Hi Peter, Most of the trout hooks I've used from Fulling Mill are very good although with most chemical sharpened hooks especially the fine wire ones can open out if not careful so I tend to use more a medium wired hook which will last much longer..I used the bronze version of the Ultimate dry fly in the video though I prefer the black nickel version as I feel the wire is slightly heavier and stronger..I'm glad you enjoyed the video.. All the very best Davie..

Superb Davie , there are a few videos out there that ty a spinner or may fly blue dun with the hook pointing upwards not down and they look pretty good ,have you ever tried that design, plus with this one do you think it woud still be successful if you split the organsa and CDC with the CDC dubbing to form wings either side

I have Stuart and the pattern I did this with was called the Funnel Dun, I have attached a link to the video for you to see...

@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 6 лет назад
Hi Chantal Golliot, Yes adding a little white organza to the natural grey CDC feathers would work ok but you can also dye the organza to suit the colour you want as it dyes very easily..I'm glad you like the videos... All the very best Davie...

Sorry for spell check error. Can you use organza for spinner wings? Does organza float?
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 2 года назад
Hi Gary, If you use a floatant on the organza it will float though I prefer to use it with another material to help, like CDC...I have also tyed this pattern with poly-pro/antron wing as well as deer hair mixed in with the organza which works well too.. All the very best Davie

Davie is it difficult to dye feathers? Seems I'm always needing more colors of materials I already have..
@DavieMcPhail
@DavieMcPhail 6 лет назад
Hi James, I have a couple of videos on my channel that show how I dye some feather. CDC feathers take the dye really well so if it's these you want to dye then give it a go and use the same method I use in the videos... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZQtIPauZQ08.html&lc=Ugx9TQghCXSkmOZaFth4AaABAg All the very best Davie
