When beginners start tying these patterns, their flies don't always turn out very pretty, but that isn't actually all that necessary to have the fly catch fish. It's better to have a properly proportioned fly, than a pretty one, if given a choice.
In this case I'm being deliberately quick and casual without the usual attention to making the fly pretty. It has a few lumps and bumps, showing that even a rough fly will still turn out OK. Ironically it's often the rougher finished flies that fish the best.
So if you're getting a bit depressed at watching all these fly tying videos with perfect looking flies, here's a less than perfect one to cheer you up.
