I can imagine Jack Gartside applauding this one. Another use for the aftershaft! He loved those little aftershaft feathers as do I. The fish could see this fly as a lot of different insects. Fuzzy is good. Love it. This is going on my to-do list. Thanks, Matt.

Great pattern, I have never heard of the aftershaft feather. I will add this to my toolbox. Thanks, Matt.

I never really understood how to use a scud, but I am always willing to learn new things! Tight lines! 😎🎣

I use it for panfish in lakes and it’s a killer pattern. I have never used in river for trout but will try.

I have used a lot of aftershaft feathers mostly as dubbing. But I love your example of using them as shrimp/scud legs. I'll be tying a few of these as soon as I inhale some more coffee.

Hi Matt. I really like these last two scud patterns. I don't fish them, but what the heck...they're fun to tie.

We use scuds a lot as droppers on spring creeks. I like the fact that the after shaft feathers are used. I've never used one but will do so now. I don't have that hook, but will do it in a scud pupa style hook like a 2457 or 2488. Thanks Matt, great tie as always.

Very interesting Matt! I love the use of often overlooked materials. Like your use of Emu feather, it gives me a chance to try something new. Thank you!

Great job Matt! Looks just like the photo in the book. There's even a " crust" on top of the crustacean 😊 You can call it a gimp shrymph 😂 I've seen them in a limestone creek I fish. Tiny buggers, I had a nice Rainbow shoot out of deadfall as a sunken Usual passed by it in a swift current. I had put my rod in the water so the line wouldn't catch on the branches. The Usual was the same greyish color as those crusty bugs. Thanks Matt, great vid! ❤

Good morning Matt. ☕️time and watching the snow coming down, about 2” so far. Enjoyed the video and seeing the use of the after shaft feather. Freshwater shrimp patterns are pretty effective on some of our trout lakes up here. This is one that I am going to try. I have a couple lakes in mind where I think it will be effective. Hope you have a great rest of your week and an enjoyable weekend. Any fishing plans? Take care Matt.

I have been working on scud pattens recently myself. Matt, that thing looks more like a scud (yep, opposed to a forest shrimp...) than any pattern I have come up with! The mobility of the legs should be a big improvement. Thanks!

Good afternoon Sir Matt, I really like this fly alot, I've tied some glass bead scuds up but not this one this way. By the way I notice you did not use lead free weight was that intentional? Have a great rest of your week
