Lovely. A very famous Australian fly. Bredbo is a river iand small township in the southern part of NSW near the Snowy Mountains. :-)

I learn something new no matter what pattern you tie! Thank you so much for sharing! Hey Davie, I met an angler in Colorado today in Boulder, on Boulder Creek. I recognized that he was from the UK straight away. I said, “Davie McPhail is my hero.” He said, “Davie is my hero to!”

I'm glad you tied that one, Davie... pretty different from what a person often holds as "traditional". Mike

Hello David: You hadn't seen it 70 years because he just created it! LOL! In 60 years, I haven't seen this fly either but that's why I watch this channel.

Nice fly Davie, I use it in the Snowy Mts in Australia. Eucumbene and Murrumbidgee Rivers and the like. Works a treat swung down and across. Give it a try on your Scottish rivers. Sz 14 16 good too on smaller waters. Variant with orange Pearsall’s floss good too

Nice tying👍 Older Norwegian wet flies have wings tied like this, Mustads etc. I like to tie March Brown's this way.

I’d love to see your interpretation of the light wing silver horns I believe by Edmonds and lee it reminds me a lot of your rodent pattern I could see the combo being very productive thanks Davie great fly as always

Another thing of beauty,I’m one of those people who hate to waste things and if I had a box full of flies like you tie they would never see the water I was given flies sixty years ago in a leather wallet beautiful salmon and sea trout flies tied on eyeless hooks with their own leader of gut I would show them off on club nights then hide them away again My uncle had tied them while he was in India with the army and in those days fur and feather was plentiful eventually he borrowed them back to tie replicas but he used them fishing in Dublin without a proper permit they where confiscated and I never saw them again your patterns remind me of these long gone flies I will need to join your subscription competition and try and win a few of these splendid works of art but I will use any that I might be lucky enough to obtain One question ,where do you get the blue desk cover you use ? Thanks Jim

Do you have a guide for wing sizes or is it something one can buy? I’m thinking about a jig to maintain consistency, the sort of thing that comes with experience if you tie all the time or very often. For casual fly tying types like me it’s more difficult to get it right. Is the gape of the hook a suitable guide or half a shank length for example?
