I was watching this video and when you got to putting the indicators on, gave me the idea of put on the white wool material and convert this ant pattern into a double foam chubby Chernobyl

That is one of the great things about the Chernobyl Ant (and fly tying in general) it is so easy to add or subtract materials to make it work in all sorts of situations. God idea! - Ian Anderson

@@DressedIrons forgot to mention that I would also tie in a tippet ring while laying down my thread, so when I’m done it can be used as is or for a adjustable dry/dropper rig

@@timothyhopkins5008 Interesting thought. Makes sense if you think you might be tying in a dropper. I like the idea. - Ian Anderson

Nice tie. Excellent fly pattern. I used widows web for the indicator and added krystal flash for the tail. Also used dubbing for the underbody. Fly worked Excellent. Thanks for the video. More of a modified chernobyl ant. Mixing things up a bit.

I'm going to give this one a try: It looks like an excellent grasshopper imitation. Thanks again.

I am glad you like the fly and video. It is a fantastic hopper imitation and excellent for a "hopper/dropper" rig in warmwater as well as coldwater fishing. - Ian Anderson

I like tying the classic patterns (as well as modern) but there are many "bread & butter" patterns that are not the most elegant but they get the job done. They deserve their recognitions as well. - Ian Anderson
