After looking at dozens of videos of Greek speaking orthodox priests teaching this knot with complex procedures (and reciting prayers while weaving) without understanding anything this was the ONLY video where I actually realized how the knots were made! May God bless you, in the meantime I really personally and sincerely THANK you!
Thank you ,a truly perfect tutorial..Your presentation is cristal clear, the perfect instruction, greatly valued ! Be blessed. To add..yes I watched several there tutorials, yours is the clearest to follow
Thank you very much! I have been looking for how to make Chotoki for a long time. Your way of teaching is very easy to understand. I will make it soon! Thank you!
Hi Mitchell ive watched so many tutorials and your version was by far the easiest demonstrated, im going to practise it together with you to get the hang of it. thanks ever so much.😀🍀🙏🙏
I created this video to help you all pray. Please take this time to help *me* pray. My 3-yo son is in the ICU at our local children's hospital after a bad car accident we were in. Please pray for his health and recovery. May whatever God you worship love you as I love this child and bless you the way your comments have blessed me.
For my brothers and sisters learning this: It is going to take some time to be able to quickly and easily get the knot to look perfectly symmetrical. Just start making knots, maybe practice tying and untying on a small strand of thread. When you get comfortable, make a bracelet and keep doing that. To be able to do thus knot quickly takes lots of practice and patience. I've made 2 bracelets and a 50-knot prayer rope and only just started being able to tie one of these knots (and have it tight) in less than a few minutes. And even so, before I pull the loops through, sometimes it is wonky and lobsided, but that RESOLVES itself (usually) if you just patiently keep tightening different parts of the knot :) Don't worry about being perfect, just get going and get the practice and feel for it!
Hi Mitchell. You likely already know this, but when I figured it out, it fascinated me. This knot is the same as the diamond knot. Different hand positions, same outcome. This technique is much more comfortable than the typical diamond knot but requires much longer leading ends. And of course, there's also the fact that you make the sign of the cross several times in the process with this technique.
I'm replying to you here because I think comments are being deleted on American Combato channel. Please email me hockey@inorbit.com and I will answer your questions in full.
Didn't take long for comments to be deleted on American Combato. I will offer you my comments here. What you know about Steiner is what he writes about himself. You don't know him, I do. He self promoted himself to 10th degree. He also gave himself the title of Prof. So he's lying/misleading people in that regard. What else is he misleading/lying about? A lot! Again if you want the truth then email me. Hockey@inorbit.com
I have watched many of these videos, and this has been the best one by far. It took 3 days and upwards of ten zillion tries, but I did it! Thanks for taking the time to record this.
Thanks so much. I was able to learn and complete my first prayer rope effectively using your instructions. Too many other videos on the subject, particularly those set to music, seem almost like the person is trying to impress with skilled they are rather than teach anything.
@@-Ravenscroft- It's right when I start to tighten it when I get to the 3 ears. When I do this the knot gets jumbled up and looks messed up. I get everything until that point.
I'm sorry I took so long to reply, but I had trouble at that stage, too. I just wound up being very particular with how I held them on my fingers. If you still have tricks after that, you might try using stitch counters or baby pins. Close them around (not through!) the cord of the loop, and it should help you keep them separate if they fall again.
I encourage you to try as often as you have the strength and patience. What you see in this video was the result of failing at least 30 times after watching 5 other tutorials. My way not be the way that works best for you, but if you continue to try, you will find one that does.
Thank u so much for this. It may have taken me about a hundred times to watch this to get the knot. But now I can do it with my eyes closed. Thank u again.
Excellent tutorial that i link to people to this day. When i was in the hospital i tied prayer ropes and this tutorial allowed me to do that. I suggest tying prayer ropes to anyone who may be going through a rough patch as it really helped me out. If you don't use em I'm sure your local churches would appreciate more tools of worship.
When you slip it off, you want to be very gentle. Try to keep the spacing they come off in, and then very easily start tightening, one strand at a time. Does this help at all?
Thanks! Have you seen my barrel knot tutorial at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rYLfqRn9HcU.html ? I don't remember if I explained how to space them, but I put them a fingertip length apart.
I've watched so many of these videos how to do this knot I almost gave up, but this is much clearer, I think I'll give another try. Many thanks. from the UK 😊
It's been years, but I want to say I started with about 10' (around 3m) of each color. I had a lot left over at the end, but it was better to be safe than to run short. I wish I could give you a per-knot number; I did 50 knots for this one, which would be 2-3 inches per knot if I'd used all my cord.
Great tutorial! I am new to this and was able to tie a knot following your video, but I am having trouble figuring out how to make a whole complete prayer rope and/or bracelet. Do you have any instructions for how to make a complete one start to finish? Thanks!
Use a lot more cord than you think you need, because at the end of all your knots, however many you make, you're going to put the two ends together. I like to leave between 18"-36" of extra cord before my first knot, and the same or more after the last one. Bring both ends together, making a loop of your knots, and then use them to tie one big SUPERKNOT with all the cords of both ends (should be 4 cords this time! Starting position should be doubled!) This knot is just like the ones you've been making, except it's huge-mongous and made of four cords. Otherwise, just proceed like you have been. After that, leave a few inches to fray into a tassel, or to tie to a pre-made tassel, and cut the rest off.
I'm sure you can do it! If at any point you get confused, let me know and I'll try my best to help, though I still need this tutorial myself most days. :)
Oh, geeze. I dunno. I used well over two yards/meters (there's like a 3"/7.62 cm difference between those two measurements) for each one, and just cut off the excess. I'm sure I wasted a lot, but it was worth it, in my opinion.
Now this tutorial video of knot is the most comprehensible n illuminating than any else i've seen so far! im greek and i've watched so many videos of greek monks n priests and i didn't get a thing of what they were doing! Congratulations my friend!
whatever you think you need, at least double it. these knots take a lot of cord. I think I started with probably about a yard (just under 1 meter) for each individual strand. i had some left over, but it wasn't a lot.
When you get to the end, take the four strands that are left over and make a new knot just like you have been, only with double the strands--two strands instead of one in each place. This will make a big knot to close the loop.
@@-Ravenscroft- since I used a thick string this is pretty difficult... But I will try again, I also found this video where the starting end is fed through the last knot: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FWumLSmZlG4.html Thanks for the advice I am sure one of these techniques will work for me. Even if it takes all day...
Hi, i want to ask about rosary with this knot. I made all the 50 parts of Hail Mary knots and 4 knots in between every 10 of them. And now I'm stuck in the intersection between those 50 to the first mystery (along with the cross). How do you make this intersection knot? Thank you for the answer and the tutorial.
I can't speak with certainty, as I haven't made specifically a rosary with this method before, but when I made the rope I made, I merged the two ends with another knot exactly like the others, just with both sets of strands. As for the cross, I would use a method similar to the method used with cord rosaries, personally, consisting of between 4-5 knots.
For those confused about the Elijah Ravenscroft with the same icon as the publisher of this video--he's me. I had a name change, and Google doesn't like to let you just transfer accounts easily. All my other religious videos will be on my own channel, under this name, in the future unless otherwise stated *on* that channel. Much love and light.

@@dodogonzaga I'm so sorry I haven't seemed to answer this yet, but basically, you take the ends of the string, all four strands, and make another knot by doubling them up, treating 2 strands as 1
I have ADHD, so when I see a complex tutorial I want to follow, I rewatch the tutorial every time I want to try again. I don't know if that will work for you, and I'm not shilling for views, but you're welcome to try it.
