That's exactly it! And they are entitled and free to do so. But get actual producers from that genre to produce it. Seeing as it is becoming a mainstream genre and replication of it is inevitable but to get producers who know the genre is best. You wouldn't get a Hip Hop producer like Swizz Beatz or Timbaland to produce Rock. So why get K-pop producers who don't know the genre do an Amapiano inspired song?

Not a single Amapiano producer was used and the motto of Amapiano is "Amapiano to the world" because the producers are open to collaborating with international producers to expand the genre. Diplo for example has worked with Major League DJs several times. LEARNING how Amapiano is done and collaborating with Amapiano producers like DJ Maphorisa instead of riding the Amapiano wave and making his own interpretation of the genre without crediting the source. Giving credit is something K-pop producers,dancers and idols struggle to do. Whether that is on a Tik Tok video,a music video concept or choreo. That is the main issue. You don't see Amapiano DJs rushing to do Korean trot. But if they were to do so,they would use trot producers. The same way some West African artists get the likes of Musa Keys (who are Amapiano musicians) to collaborate with them when they create Amapiano music because they know that they can't do it like Amapiano producers can. This isn’t a case of copying but this does prove the point that K-pop is not always Korean music it’s just music in Korea. Which doesn’t take away anything because I’ll still jam out but K-pop takes a lot of inspiration from other cultures

This is exactly how I feel about it. Like them trying out amapiano is cool, but the execution feels lazy and it's likely because they were lazy with the inspiration too like you said. Le sserafim got a dominican (I think) producer to make antifragile, which makes sense since it's reggaeton and antifragile ended up being probably their best song so far. Now imagine what it could've been like if they actually got someone who knows amapiano to make a song for them. Hopefully I'm not making myself look dumb lol, since I didn't actually check who the producer was. It just sounds so lazy and it's a b side, so I figured it's likely they didn't hire someone who knows what they're doing in terms of amapiano. If it is someone qualified.. I commented that on the music video and it got so much positive comments from other south africans. We are happy that our local stuff is appreciated overseas, and that Tyla's success has helped put south african styles on the map (even more than it already is). Tbh I did not associate "Smart" with any song in particular. My thoughts during that song were, "Oh, it sounds like Latina dance music" and "I'd rather watch Latinas dance this thing. I love LE SSERAFIM. They know what's hot so they will create/emulate that. It's similar to afrobeat ,amapiano music not TYLER in particular .They have more of a black music sound than other Kpop groups and there's nothing wrong with that. Genre's are made to share, as long as you respect the culture and roots. Honestly, I think that's why I gravitate to them. EASY is a banger💖
No offense but many afrobeat songs sound the same, beat wise. And that’s okay. The sound of Afrobeat/Amapiano is just very recognizable. Even Tyla’s ‘Water’ & ‘Truth or Dare’ sound similar and they’re different songs. It doesn’t bother me really
And aren’t companies these days trying to go for the global recognition anyways from the success of BTS and BlackPink. We have so many more survival shows now that are being made for a “global” audience in the Kpop scene. I’m sure artists like le seerafim are very happy to get a song that will attract another audience especially if they’re performing at cochella.
