This is actually a old traditional song that Bobby learned in folk circles and then the dead picked up when Bobby brought it to Jerry but none the less it’s basically a dead tune at this point well near known through them But o truly agree Tyler covers this is amazing from a fellow dead to another much love
I don’t know of anyone as authentic, and genuine, as Tyler Childers aside from Sturgill Simpson, and Jason Isbell. Zack Bryan and Logan Halstead are two up-and-comer’s on the way to making it big in my humble opinion!!! KeepTruckin
So fun watching Tyler grow and come out of that shell he used to appear to be in when not holding his guitar. The growth is beautiful. My favorite singer/song writer of all time!!!
Tylers stage presence is just unmatched. You can see hiim and feel him but it's still indescribable to me. All that energy pent up in side of him just waiting to unleash like Armageddon.
The new sober Tyler is like a part two to his career…we already got the best catalog out there from him. Hopefully part two is even more amazing and with this new album it looks like it’s gonna be
Why does he keep whipping his nose? I hope he is sober but there are many signs that he is not..Johnny Cash and Waylon said they were sober many times, but they were not until many years later
I hope that somewhere across this great country, a music teacher is showing this video to their students. This is what music is about. The emotion that Tyler Childers sings with is on another level. And singing a song that he didn’t write.
It's been two days and I can't stop coming back to listen to this? There's drugs in this chorus, I swear. One of those songs you feel in your entire body. The way Tyler is is feeling the energy of every single word, I get it now. I'm dancing the same exact way at my desk now every time I hear it.
Tyler Childers is a real class act...what a real, down home, genuine decent hillbilly boy... Talented, articulate, intelligent, unassuming, full of the grace of God and unashamed... and easy on the eyes to top the whole thing off.. what a beautiful creation... tyG
I have listened to this at least five times a day since I found this video. I'm a sucker for a good cover, and this one is incredible... TYLER is incredible!! Thanks for sharing!
I also listen to them allot, just keeps me rent free , bet you're a good fan of country songs,we could share some if you don't mind, so what other platform do you chat?
Man just greatness is all I can say,I could watch Tyler over and over and love it even more everytime, him on stage versus million dollar videos and main stream artists,...take him and a guitar any day....
Didn't listen to Tyler much before this... Saw him live here. My cousin told me to check him out before but I had some other things in line to check out first and forgot. Man did I make a mistake.....I cannot stop listening to him now.. Ridiculously good.
A lot of people in here might not want to hear this, but there is something very Eddie Vedder about his growth and stage presence. He's gone from almost shy, to being a front man. 👍👍
5:05 this bit where the bassist and the lead guitarist mirror each other is insane. As a deadhead, it immediately reminded me of that same part of Greatest Story from the Bickershaw Festival Europe 72 show (5/7/72). The band clearly has a reverence for the dead, or at least they did their research.
good grief - I've come back to watch this so many times. The pedal steel on this is a huge highlight. And Tyler's energy! Man. Was best song of his set fo sho. Love Triune God too.
Nice I didn't know he was a deadhead. This band really plays the dead well, they picked up on the early 70s Americana feel, especially with the pedal steel
That was a great concert! Tyler Childers and Charley Crockett were outstanding. I couldn't for the life of me understand how Tyler wore a jean jacket at this show? It was unbelievably HOT that day...like 95 degrees when he came on. Half the crowd left after Tyler finished his set.
Well, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion... Not saying at all that he's not really good but I really like The Dead's cover of this song too... Of course, being a Dead Head, my opinion may be juuuuust a little partial lol...
I listen to him alot n more n more also that ole whiskey Myers n I'm happy to say a new friend told me about them said he grew up with them or knew them n he can play the hell out of a guitar . Glad he told me bout these guys great musicians n I'm sure good people
“He said the name of the town we are in” is the cherry on top of the cake to how awesome this intro, cover and performance is…..man I love this! Is there an intro line better in any song in history than “Moses came riding up on a quasar”?
Way to absolutely CRUSH it!! This had me looking into the origins of the song, I got to see “The Dead” live at the forum and this song aka water “pump song” didn’t make the set list. Such a Great rhythm and stoked to dig into it more thanks to y’all , this tune seems to be on a continuing path of evolving ….”stay like water my friends” haha. From the beginning taking many forms with a changing title and changing lyrics. “Left hand my friends” !! Great addition Tyler and crew !!
Been a fan for many years now ....the foodstamp band is one of the best bands .....Zac brown band caliper if not better ....they can flat out rock ...slower down ...spin ya around ....a draw a tear from the eye in happy way and a sad one .....futures looking bright the basses wears shades
