You need to check out Lost Dog, which is Benjamin Tod's and his wife Ashley's band. Just look into any and all things pertaining to Benjamin Tod, he has many and everything he touches is gold. You're welcome.
Chris was my first introduction into modern underground country music. His discography can go pound to pound with any country musician that’s ever sung with a southern accent.
@Tyler Childers Such a wonderful rendition of an amazing song ; love Chris Knight. I have a posh English accent and an expensive education but none of that could express how I feel the way this song does .
I was born in Pike County , and I grew up in Mingo county as well 🤔🤔🤔 Left in 93 after I graduated high school , joined the Marines,, never went back. I go visit my folks a couple times a year , but it’s changed so much it depresses me
Dallas Rife live in Nebraska and worked with a guy that moved his family here from eastern KY. Said he wanted to get his kids out of there. Damn shame it’s come to that
There ought to be a town somewhere Named for how I feel Yeah I could be the mayor down there And say ‘welcome to sorryville’ It wouldn’t be on a map no where You might say that it don’t exist But if you make enough wrong turns It’da be hard to miss There ought to a bridge somewhere they could dedicate to me I'd probably come to the ceremony with a can of gasoline Walk on over to the other side Where I'd light a match Sit and stare through the smoke and flames and wonder how I'm gonna get back Why do I do the things I do? Was I born this way or am I self made fool? I shoot the lights and I curse the dark I need your love but I break your heart And I know the words that’ll bring you back but But I don’t say nothing as I watch you pack I had to work to become the jerk I've come to be It ain’t easy being me There oughta be a side show "act" For freaks like me I could be the star of the show w/ my name on the marquee In a room with a big red button that says ‘danger do not touch’ Twice a day I'd mash it down and you can watch me self-destruct Why do I do the things I do Was I born this way or am I self made fool I shoot the lights and I curse the dark I need your love but I break your heart And I know the words that’l bring you back but I don’t say nothing as I watch you pack I had to work to become the jerk i’ve come to be It ain’t easy being me It ain’t easy being me
Chris knight is one of my top five of all time. Was so pissed I missed him in show the other month been listening to his stuff for 15 years now. Great cover with your own soul put into it Tyler.
i'm using this version to learn this song on guitar and vocals, i tried using chris' version but my voice is way closer to tyler's so i really appreciate this video, plus i enjoy your podcast also, it gets me through my work day. thank you
Such an amazing song and amazing version. I've never listened to this podcast but I don't think I could. The announcers voice and way he paused drives me insane. I couldn't imagine having a conversation with him lol
This cover and lonely love both were amazing..I prefer Tyler's version of both..This song especially..It perfectly describes my life, it's painfully beautiful
Tyler is a breath of fresh air. His voice moves your soul. I seen him last year and he was mind blowing to say the least. Been listening to him for years.
Tyler could sing jingle bells and it’d be a hit. Been a fan for a while now and my appreciation grows deeper by the day. Stay true Brother you touch a lot of hearts.
Searching for Chris Knight and seeing a Tyler Childers cover of a song brought me here. Inb4: I hate people who tell people who/what brought them to songs on youtube.
One voice a guitar and a good song where you feel it inside and your eyes water a little bit you feel it in chest and you swallow a lump in your throat and your like dam I can't wait to play it again before its even over with when its wrote and sung from the heart it always translates and transfers
We are all capable of most important change we can evolve while staying true to who we are. We can honor who we have been (the good and bad) and choose who want to be next.
If my ship were to set sail and float away in the paper with a picture under my name This just in John messed it up again Even if I did it right I’d still find a way The unfortunate story of my life Like a sad song stuck on replay Don’t matter how hard I try to change It ain’t easy living this way You’re damn right we’re not the same It takes time to deal with pain But sometimes there sunshine in the rain Chills down my spine when I hear my song play This world made me wise and I’m 23
Damn I always revisit these recordings and I always am in awe of Tyler’s raw talent, but I’m also always bothered by the hosts cadence. Nobody talks like that lol, it feels very performative and impersonal, which really clashed with Tyler’s reservation in conversation and his powerful singing,
Love the music, and tyler is absolutely gold as always. If only we could eliminate the scripted robot at the beggining and end. No offense! Just my honest opinion
Shane tindall Not meaning to be an asshole but if it wasn’t for W.B you wouldn’t be able to find this sweet cover you can call him what you want but he does his podcast because he loves the music
This song is the story of my life... god bless you all and remember the ones that served so I could F up my life on a regular basis and not be in front of the firing squad.
This is my new favorite song. Sorry Chris Knight but Ole Timmy Tyler Childers does it better. At least I think so. Opinions are like noses everyone has one 👍
Chris Knights version will always be number 1, but this is an awesome cover. Blake Shelton should’ve never touched this song. Tyler and Chris have lonely voices, Blake does not.
Hard to hear anyone but CK pour this song out, but im glad to hear someone like Tyler show some love to Chris by doing a respectable version! Hats off!!!
