What about Save? That song. That song. I can't imagine what was going through his head writing that song. It makes me want to ball my eyes out. It's crazy to think that that was the same person who wrote a song about Taco Bell and coconut sharks. Or like addict with a pen. Urgh he sounds so hurt and I just want to cuddle him and tell him everything is alright. It tears me apart thinking about our little bean hurting in any way because he doesn't deserve it. None of us deserve to go through things like depression and anxiety and urghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
That song means so much to me, and I personally think that Save is about his faith in god, and that God or Jesus as he sings, must save him, and he's having trouble with his faith to be saved. I understand that song, because i've had gone through that same "process" Stay alive |-/

Emma Șutu well, more of a sign of him recovering from depression. Even though depression never really goes away, but it can get better or worse depending on whats going on with your life, or even how you feel on a day to day basis, soeaking from personal experience
Yeah, finding the power to record goofy songs with friends is the exact opposite of a sign of depression. Not proof that he wasn't depressed, just because he retained a sense of humor and was capable of having a fun time, but depression is characterized by apathy, sadness, and loss of excitement and pleasure. Did you mean something a little different from what you typed, Emma?
Sometimes I wish interviewers knew about them more but at the same time I don't want them to because deep questions could come up and remind them of whatever bad thing has happened to them at the time like the question that was in the video.
Sometimes it’s good to reflect on what your mind was like while you’re recovering from depression. It’s a good measure like a “ I was there and now I am HERE.” It shows it’s possible to get better.
That small part of blasphemy was in anathema. He looks so sad when he talked about it though. I don't think anyone should ever really bring up NPI because that was a private album to him. Very personal
Manila Moses I dunno, I feel like every song he writes is very personal. That's what they've built a career and a fanbase off of. If it was so personal that Tyler didn't want anyone hearing or talking about it, he wouldn't have made it an album, y'know? It would have stayed in his parents' basement.
i don't think he feels bad about people listening to it, because he knows that most of the people who do are people who really need it and who get something out of it, and i can't imagine him not being glad that something he created can do that.
He's actually said (don't remember where) that he's happy that people download his old music; he just wants people to hear it because maybe it will help them feel not so alone and help them move through whatever they're going through.
this song. blasphemy. blasphemy, it got me through some of my toughest times and is one of the songs I hold most dearly by him but it hurts me to see that whenever someone brings it up it might make him remember something he defeated. and idk, I just feel *awful* for liking that song, you know?
i love npi but i really feel like it should stay one of those things that you just... dont talk about publicly. its what you listen to by yourself in your room in the middle of the night, just to get through one more day. kinda like the "meaning" of the logo, its meaning is personal to just you. plus look how sad it makes tyler look, even when he has to talk about TB saga he gets sad.
Tyler didnt look sad at all and has stated that he doesnt mind talking about ealier music or what he was going through. I know that I dont mind talking about things as long as I'm over them
it sort of irks me how some of these comments come across as almost gatekeep-y and "tyler's too precious and innocent don't ask him that!" as if he's not a grown man. gatekeeping wise, i get it, people want _no phun intended_ to remain that little secret within the community. but, like, tyler published it on the internet for a reason: to share his music with the world. that's how this band's whole career came to fruition - because tyler (and josh) had something to say and they shared it through music. now, in terms of people babying tyler, he's a grown man. he can answer and not answer questions as he chooses. i know this was posted five years ago now and i'm almost certain the general attitude within the community has changed, but he's not an innocent "smol bean". he sings very publicly and openly about suicide, depression, anxiety, and general insecurities within himself. if tyler didn't want to talk about _blasphemy,_ he wouldn't have. he's done it many times now, not answering someone's question. the concern people have for tyler (and josh) regarding their mental health is genuinely pure-hearted, but it can become infantilizing at times. just some food for thought (it's not poisoned, i promise).
He's so wonderful. I just love him and Josh. They help so many people through their struggles and triumphs. I do the same thing with poetry and I hope soon I will be able to write my own music too.

I just love Tyler so much. I know it’s probably so extremely hard for him to talk or even think about NPI because of how broken he was then, but those songs have seriously helped, and still are helping, me so much.
I don't know why but I'd just love to here present day Tyler talk about his struggles in high school that inspired him to write No Phun Intended. I know it is kind of terrible to wish for someone to think back to their past of depression and suicidal thoughts but.. I don't I'm really really intrigued to know what was going on in his head at the time, because Tyler really helps me with what I'm going through.
Exactly!! No Phun Intended helped me through some shit. I’m great now but a couple years ago it really helped and I’d really like to see current day Tyler talking about it more because it fascinates me. This the only video that I’ve seen where Tyler talks about No Phun Intended.
I've been fascinated by the very early eras for a very long time, and the fact that there's even a lost song that we don't know if even exists, the story about the guy who has an actual NPI CD but decided not to leak it... Tyler has openly said that he's gotten over everything he went through during those times and I really wish I could sit down with him, maybe not even record it if he doesn't feel comfortable with it, and just ask a bunch of questions about the very early eras, and finally get some answers to those questions everyone wants to know
Why would any ask him that question. His whole solo album was so sad and he was probably super depressed and suicidal. You just don't ask someone to bring them back to their worst moments. They should've known better.
Hey kids first of all this just like. Wow. I kind of feel like so long as Tyler doesn’t talk about NPI, he was never in that much pain. But here it is, living proof. Sorry this vid is ages old but Some of these comments on here are just so- 🤢🙃I mean with all due respect, respecting Tyler’s boundaries is important but had he felt uncomfortable w/ that question, he’d respectfully ask to move on to the next. But he didn’t and he even said it was a good question. Besides how is she (the fan in question) supposed to know she can’t ask abt NPI when it’s something he willfully PUBLICLY published? I get that it’s those “rare” & “ages old” tracks but it’s out there nonetheless… and yeah it talks about very heavy subjects but that’s Tøp’s whole thing. Addressing heavy subjects. It’s his music and he decides when or what to talk about. It’s not something you have a say in approving it or not :\
You know how he reuses lyrics in songs sometimes? A part of me wonders if there are lyrics in known songs that have been reused from songs we have never even HEARD.
Drown is a great song! I really like it, I know the lyrics are sad and desperateful, but at the same time they're really deeply beautiful and the beats plus piano are amazing.
Oh and Tonight...that one makes me feel down FOR REAL, it's one of the darkest in NPI in my personal view, plus, this is the first and only Tyler's song with a Guitar Solo! (And one simples but beautiful!)
This question was really not thought out and really shouldn’t have been asked for all sorts of reasons but you wanna know what would’ve been more screwed up to ask about? The song Save. If she asked about that song I’m not sure Tyler would have been able to take that question as well as he did with this one
Yeah! It's not like we are trying to force or pretend something, but "Save" has some really terrible lyrics that a person in his neutral or good state of mind wouldn't write this, it's something that really make all us wonder "that's deep and hurtful! I think he was really bad in these days"

Y así con Drown/Fall Away, Trees, Street Poetry/Heavydirtysoul, I'm A Goner...
