Tyler Posey on Dylan O'Brien Not Returning For Teen Wolf: The Movie 

it's not just that stiles is missing. his friendship with scott is missing. and that was a huge part of the show. these two weren't just best friends, they were brothers. and yet they went their separate ways. it's sad to think about. and even sadder to see. that's one of the reasons i still haven't watched the movie

it’s not just dylan and how good his performance is, it’s the importance of stiles’ character to the show and the direction. scott is awesome and tyler does a great job but the (movie’s) story primarily sucked. and the seasons without stiles have been weaker. because it’s a different feeling and vibe without stiles. (and dylan’s energy)

Dylan's own words "it felt rushed".....That is the nice way of saying it was a crap script without burning bridges for future jobs. The rumors that have come out are that there was only an outline of a script with most of it all made up on the fly on set. Jeff and others thinking the nogitsune being the best villain F@ckd up in thinking it was the double in the wraps and jacket when in fact it was Dylan's stellar acting and the tragedy of Stiles being possessed.

This is so nice that they got this interview. I really love how close dylan and tyler are and how they respect another, but he is absolutely right for doing this without his presence in the film because even if the show started with the two, its still about scott, and the other characters around him

Crystal Reed was the one that surprised me. I thought she left to pursue for major film roles and didn't want to be associated with the franchise again. Maybe the difference is, Dylan's career took off with his other roles. Not trying to be mean, just real.

I was disapointed in the movie, honestly.. and im a hardcore fan! It seemed like the characters had all forgot their abilities and connection to each other that was built up over such a long time. I wanted to see Lydia's bad ass banshee powers being used ! And I expected Scotts True Alfa powers to be on an insane level so many years later.. and the only difference I noticed was that he made Dericks son become a wolf from a look and a growl! Why did they all just lose all sense of self powers and they didnt learn anything from their situations in the series. Derick was meant to be all one with himself now since he was reborn into his wolf form the same way his mother was. And the story of his son being afraid of him and thats why he was afraid to change in front of him was so silly. Kinda interesting that they left the mothers identitiy as questionable though. And where do I even begin with Alison.. as much as I love that she's back, her being controlled by the Nogitsune (and her dad) and Alison trying to kill Scott.. to Scott telling her the truth and she remembers everything.. it all happened to quickly to make any sense.. and didnt have anywhere near enough fear for the audience. And it devalued the Nogitsune! When we saw it take over Stiles.. they played this over several episodes and it got so dark and so powerful.. that they really did an injustice on it by introducing it again in this movie! To be honest, they should have gone with a completely new villain. The Oni was also badly represented, as you didnt feel the same fear as in the series.. when they would appear out of the shadows and draw their swords.. and do the stare until the person collapses and the mark is represented behind the ear when it was being controlled by Kiras mother Mrs Yukimura. Then later the scary scene when the Oni is being controlled by the Nogitsune and they appear in the hospital and start chopping people up with their swords further makes you fearful of these things.. and of course they killed Alison. So to see the Oni in the movie in this way, they didnt look at all frightening. And then theres stiles.. Why would they break up Stiles and Lydia like that?? After it took the whole 6 series for them to finally get together and it surely seemed theyd get married, have kids etc. And saying that Stiles is so busy with work to come and save literally everyone he loves in his life!! Is not a very convincing story! You'd be best off saying he was abducted. Its so sad that they couldnt get this movie right.. and quite frankly I just cant add this story to the followup of the series, its more like a bad dream

Ironic how they criticize people always bringing up Dylan when talking to Tyler (even if Tyler doesn’t mind, they bring it up to try to get him to say it bothers him) and then they use Dylan’s name for clickbait in the title 🙂

I don't know if it's just me but the fans rarely give him credit for the show, like I barely see people respect him, it's always stiles that get the respect when it's Scott that's the key to the show, like give him the credit he's the reason stiles is the way he is in the show.

I enjoyed the movie it was great seeing the gang back in beacon hills, that said the movie felt rushed as all hell, it could have been so much better had they taken the time needed, instead of trying rush and have the same premiere date to another unrelated werewolf show made by the same guy, that ppl still don't understand IS NOT a spin off... I think, had the two things been kept separate both would have done better on thier own.

I watched the movie and I literally had a feeling that something wasn't right until I noticed that we were missing a person with a very noticeable face which was Stiles. I reckon we petition for his return.

Don’t get my wrong I did like the movie but it seem like they didn’t really have a strong storyline

What you aren’t mentioning is his success. Dylan is now a movie star and making top billing. His fees are set by his agent, his schedule is busy, and sometimes you can’t just do every project.

I love their friendship, and love Tyler's personality to death, however I do think Stiles was a huge part of the show, I always thought it was the best character, the one who brought comedy and the one who f**king stole it on season 3. I haven't seen the movie, don't know if I will watch it, but for me, Stiles is essential to the show, for sure.

Ima be real, If Dylan Obrian wasn’t stiles in Teen Wolf, the show would have NOT been as good. He killed that role & its probably one of the reason he acquired his own movie, his acting was so off the charts , he was able to overshadow the main character at points. And that talent has to be recognized & can’t be discredited. For me Dylan Obrian is the Show. I actually could not sit through it without him. I’ve never seen the movie, but knowing he isn’t in it, it’s not even Teen Wolf. The show started with Scott & Stiles that’s how it should have ended.

I understand that everyone wanted Stiles in the movie and the later seasons and I also think Tyler made a great point because he was always the main character and SUPPOSED to be the main character but he’s been pushed aside and even harassed by Stiles and Dylan O’brien fans when he IS the star of the show and the franchise. I love Dylan O’brien to death but I think this is where Tyler needs recognition

I respect all the hard work put into the movie. However it did feel rushed and the storyline seemed like it wasn't thoroughly thought through. It was great to see so many familiar faces and new faces. The way the were brought into the story is what I found a problem with. Firstly, I found it such a shame that Allison was brought back and that she was such a large part of the storyline, especially when the series is so full of her commemoration, to the point that Crystal Reed even returned to play her ancestor, which was awesome and so well put together. It was a great ending and her story as a part of teen wolf should have ended there, or they could've have chosen to continue with that commemoration. Or otherwise brought her back in a manner that made more sense, not just for the sake of having a shocking reveal. Additionally, the Nogitsune was one of the top villains throughout the teen wolf series. So for it to be brought back, it should have been more cunning, it should have been ready to take on Scott's pack, and full of vengeance. But it was defeated so easily that it lost its flare. Additionally the relationship between the Nogitsune and Allison, should have been explored more if that was the case. Also there was so much missing information. Like how Argent got infected by the Nogitsune and how Deaton knew so much about it. The new characters deserved a better introduction. The fact that Scott was allowed to play lacrosse at his grown age just because it was coach Finstock in charge was possible, but the way it was executed was just poor. And these are just scratch the surface type things. It's regretfully one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen, and it's sad because of how beloved and fantastically executed the series is. So again, all my respect to those who put their time and effort into this movie, but its severely disappointing.

I used to watch the first few seasons and I said ever episode to my brother Dylan O'Brien is the only good actor on this show. Should have been the lead. He's gone on to act in big movies and can't really blame him.

Ok but seriously guys how would you like to be asked every freaking interview, why isn’t Dylan a part of it, I’m not going to watch without Dylan, I get it the movie would’ve been better with stiles in it, and he is so amazing and togetherbthey are unstoppable, but like I said imagine if you’re Tyler and that’s all you here! He was just as important to the show as Dylan was whether you like Tyler or the character of Scott or not. There would be no show without him in termed of it being called teen wolf and he’s the wolf that was a teen lol. I don’t known feel bad for him sometimes, because he worked just as hard as Dylan did on the show, and even when it was airing all the questions at comic con we’re for Dylan, everyone talked about Dylan, and it must’ve really hurt not only his feelings but his pride a bit, like why aren’t I good enough, why don’t people like me like they do him?. I feel like people are so blinded by Dylan that Tyler gets ignored.

I'm sure Dylan O'Brien had other engagements. When someone is active in Hollywood it's hard to get them during their prime time unless you have a lot of money or could work with their strict schedule.

First I want to say thank you for giving us more Teen Wolf! While I would have loved to see Stiles that isn't my complaint about the movie. My biggest complaint is that it was too short. I like the longer form of the TV show. It felt really rushed and it was hard to piece together the backstory of why he hadn't been back at all. Like it seems like between the end of the last episode and the beginning of this new movie the whole pack fell apart. I get that romantic relationships changed and that's okay. It was just kind of jarring that at the end of the series it seemed like they were all coming together and like they were going to be building the pack and saving people. Just maybe not in Beacon Falls. Which I mean yes they showed Scott saving a little girl at the beginning of the movie but it was by himself. We got a little bit of backstory on why Derrick's son might be afraid of the Wolf transformation. Unfortunately there just wasn't enough time in the movie for us to get all the backstory we need for the interim years.

I legit only watched teen wolf for Dylan and only watched the movie to see what they did to STYDIA and to watch hoechlin and holland

After seeing the "movie" you can understand why Dylan O'brien didn't want any part of it. It was still poorly written with inconsistencies and plot holes galore, and he's just moved past it. Likely to Dylan O'brien, Teen Wolf was a paycheque.

I felt they crammed too much stuff in the movie that would have looked better in a extra season instead. Would have had the ability to expand on what’s going on as well as re visiting each character and new ones etc. but as a teen wolf fan I still enjoyed it

I was so disappointed with the movie and felt so disheartened by the cast, producers & Director because off how rushed the storyline felt and the plot with Alison didn’t make sense at all, it was a good try I’ll give em that but the whole point off Alison’s character dying was to strengthen the pack even more. Yes with Dylan gone it didn’t feel the same but that only makes me respect him even more by not choosing to do the movie as an actor myself you have to my so many sacrifices with scripts, and Dylan definitely made the right choice even tho it would’ve been so iconic too see Stiles in the movie cause he was such a beloved character Dylan’s career has taken off to a whole new level and I think by him doing the movie would’ve damaged his career cause us as fans would only assioate him as Stiles.

Honestly, I've been watching thru the series for the first time, and I'm about to finish Season 2. It's really good. I never watched it till now cuz I saw some trailers back when it was airing and didn't think it looked all that great, but then the movie came out and I was like, ooook, I'll actually give the series a watch. And I'm glad I'm finally doing that cuz it's really good. The dynamic between Stiles and Scott is awesome. Stiles is my favorite character lol. He's hilarious.

The only reason the movie was made was to get alison back and to F every relationship ever in the serie's.

I wish they would have done the movie differently. Because of how they ended the show they should have honestly made that the movie essentially. Monroe got away and was essentially the big bad at the end of the episode and then we hear nothing about what happened in the movie. And I hate that everyone who ended up together in the show wasn't together in the movie. That kind of sucked too with no explanation as well

Listen, we're gonna call it like it is. The movie was shit. The plot was so obnoxiously bad and supposedly written on the go which makes sense why it's so bad, key characters are missing and subsequently "replaced" which is not only a middle finger, but not done well. The big bad was only the best arc of the show, because of Dylan, because him being the enemy was top tier, and again, Jeff just tried to recreate that without the spark that made it good. Not paying Arden fairly, and then replacing her with a meh version of Kira, fucked up. Trying to recreate Stiles through Eli (although we love Eli), fucked up. Killing Derek who is literally 1/2 of the reason the show even survived? Fucked up. You can say you like it for Scott all you want, that does not change the fact that Scott is a terribly written character who can't keep his own show/story afloat. Teen Wolf has always needed Dylan to survive, the movie is a perfect example of that. Posey wanted to prove he could do it without Dylan, well we've already seen that play out when the show was airing, it nearly got canceled. Nothing against Posey's acting or his talents, the writing and directing is what tanks his character and forces the show to rely on the best friend to carry it. Scott McCall has no development, and no area to grow. You can't have a static main character and expect good results. That said, a lot of the fault lies on Jeff Davis. Once you lost Dylan, take the L dude. Don't make the movie. I've never seen such bad decisions in storytelling come out of something that wasn't from Fanfiction.net, the cesspool of literature. You can't tell me you really thought bringing back 17 year old Allison for that romance when Scott is in his 30's was gonna look good did you? Fucked up.

the missing of stiles as we know makes the movie somehow boring if jeff try to create a group with all of the gang living happily together and being more powerful...it will be absolutley great but with out stiles we cannot bring back the gang....i think that's why they choose to separate them and forget about their powers a little bit and living their own fucking life. (if dylan wanted to participate we all would not be disappointed like this)

It's like Nicholas Cage in that movie he did last year I forget the name "I always thought of it as a job" and "it's just acting" lol a lot of people build it up into this crazy big complex career because the pay is so good, but it really is is like a freelancer job that pays a shit load.

I feel for Tyler. He's the lead, but everything revolves around O'Brien. And while Stiles sure is an important character, it's more so about Dylan himself. People are obsessed over that guy. So they praise his character nonstop and the lead is in his shadow. I get that it gets on Tyler's nerves, it's hurtful to him as both an actor and as a person. Dylan is Rachel, Stealing Tyler's/Monica's thunder lol. And it's not like Dylan himself can win. If he would be in the movie, people would talk about him, he's not - people talk about him. It's always all about him one way or another.
