Type 2’s primary characteristics are low levels of nutrients, hormone factors, and/or trophic factors. Type 2 also occurs more frequently in those who carry one or two copies of the ApoE4 allele. Individuals begin to lose the ability to form new memories in the hippocampus. However, there is little to no evidence of inflammation - sometimes inflammatory markers may be lower than normal.
Biochemical Markers of Type 2
Levels of hormones such as thyroid, adrenal, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and pregnenolone tend to be suboptimal. Vitamin D levels are usually low too.
Insulin resistance can occur.
