I am a knife collector and user and i have one and the smaller one and allmost all the other xl folder and Bowie and Tantos etc. So that is exactly right😄
Most people who carry Balisongs are too busy flipping the damned things open and closed in some kind of intimidating display rather than getting down to business.
@Ban this youtube Which is half of $800 You could also get a Benchmade OTF for around $300. Meanwhile, other OTFs can go for over $1,000. Like, I said, Benchmade knives aren't usually that expensive.
@Ban this youtube And there's probably a Benchmade that is within that limit. Cause most of their knives aren't as expensive as you've made them out to be.
Probably not a very cool fact, but there is literally no way to practice bushcraft in my country, all camping is illegal unless you get a permit at one of the 2 places to camp. As all land in the country is owned by the government. We do have jungles you could hike in but it's still illegal. We used to have a handful of islands people could stay overnight and camp but some group of idiots accidentally set fire to half the the island and now camping is mostly banned on the islands.
Third guy: "mine does every utility function both of yours does. Except defense of others and self defense" Seriously though, if you're going to claim to be a knife expert - try to be one. Instead you're trying to be a 5-minute-expert. Making arguments about things you've never used, and thought up in just 5 minutes.
@@jonslg240 I'm going to be honest with you I don't think anyone's claiming that a Messer it should be considered a knife(although you can make a pretty good argument about it especially since a machete is considered a knife). The reason it's funny is because they were made by the knife making guild and the name translates to knife. Also a knife expert isn't going to be dealing with messers that's more of a medieval arms expert's territory. Not to mention he says Hema which it means "historical European martial art" so he's not even claiming to be an expert on anything.
@@jonslg240 wether or not messers are knives can be debated all day, but iirc they came about because medieval laws kept civilians from owning swords, and the construction was considered knifey enough at the time. now that we are further along, we now realize 3 dots in the handle does not make it a knife
Him “As you can see gentlemen I have the latest addition triple forged compressed steel 5,000 dollar all outside and inside purpose knife” Bushcrafter “ the stuff of legends” Backpacker “ how, where, when ?” Normal joe “ No way, can I…” Him” *HEY NO TOUCHING* “ “Holuings”
@@mariusb6035 The new ones are super dull and they have the shape all wrong for cutting. Not to say it didn't work but it took a while. Also the sharpening stone fitness well in the hand but it's not abrasive at all. It does a weird clicking thing. Anyway, 2/10 not the worst claymore I've held but they could dial it back closer to the original.
@@grimgranite ah yes, khukuris are great, and the word gets longer every time :p Jokes aside, that's one of my favorite types of swords/machete, it's basically a scythe blade on a knife handle
@@satibel kukris are awesome, I own several myself the most expensive one I got was just over 100 bucks from EGKH in Nepal, made from a truck leaf spring. My Uncle even had one commissioned and forged for my Grandpa when he was deployed to Cambodia
I usually just carry my swiss army knife, by which I mean the knife the swiss army gave me. got all the tools you could ever want and its a really good blade.
People like us are collectors, as such would most likely identify with your favorite blade, for me its my benchmade balisong because knives designed to be played with are the best knives, its also the only knife i own that has drawn my own blood... On more than several occaisions
@@rocconatale9503 I've cut myself unintentionally with almost all my knives. Sometimes I'll just find cuts on my hands and not know how it happened. But I think my favorite so far is my Timberwolf Ulu. I've got pocket knives that accompany me everywhere whenever I leave home, I've got knives that I use for yardwork on the desert bushes, I've got throwing knives that are just for fun because I'm bad at throwing them. But that Ulu has been the most impressive tool in the kitchen
@@riddle9064 other than my balisongs my ozark hunting knife is the only one that's ever knicked me and its cause I was doing tricks with it like a goofball but i did learn how to blade catch that day so it's still a win in my book.
They don't get much longer than the ludicrous bayonet for the musqueton Arcelin. Some mad Frenchman decided to attach a carbine to a full size, straight bladed, cut and thrust saber.
I'm the above average joe that carries a nice, but not gucci locking knife and uses it every day. The average joe doesn't have a knife and gives me weird looks when I use mine.
I buy the ones I think look cool, and then i have my two good knives I dont use on anything except for outdoorsy stuff or opening letters/packages. My Italian Stilleto is my letter opener and my bootleg KA-BAR is my outdoorsy knife
Ugh mine are princesses...Only my fixed blades get down and dirty. I also bought a $7 Walmart folder for packages so I can keep my collection clean lol.
some of its length isn't bladed but many are bladed on both sides, all the way along the length of the dagger. Some have this "syringe-end" style of lens-shaped taper and only a sharpened tip. once you've poked and wrestled underneath someone's armor plate with your rondel dagger, you still need to cut and push through any further padded protection they are wearing underneath (which was sometimes quite a bit!) and then cut into them. Perhaps only sharpening the very needle tip was necessary for this, but nonetheless it looks like many were also edged on both sides. These C-shaped blades are really fancy; giving your rondel dagger more leverage into the chink in another's armour. Thanks for reading my autism
I carry my Spyderco Paramilitary 2 with black DLC coated plain edge CPM S30V steel blade in my left pocket, and that's the one I let people borrow if they ask. I carry my Spyderco Spydiechef with plain edge LC200N steel blade in my right pocket, and that's the one that I pretty much only use myself. I have a black DLC coated plain edge Spyderco Para 3 too, that matches my PM2. I told my ex gf that she could have it, but I ended up keeping it. I've been thinking about splurging on a new knife lately, something pretty high end like an Olamic or maybe even Hinderer. My Spydiechef is the most expensive knife I've ever bought so far, and I think I gave about $250 for it like a year and a half ago or so. It might seem expensive to carry around those knives, but I also usually carry my CZ Shadow 2 9 x 19 handgun, and that thing cost almost $1,500 lol but I have my CCW license.
The classic swiss army knife has it's occasional uses.. The file comes in handy and as a machinist it's nice to have the tweezers when i get a burr in my finger..
I carry an enormous Cold Steel Black Bear Bowie in the bush. It's a small machete, a knife, you can dig with it, it's incredibly durable and it costs like $50
For light duty 'just in case' stuff, any multitool will probably be fine. I used to carry a mini victorinox knife on my keys that had a small blade, nail file and scissors as well as the standard tweezers and toothpick in the scales. Not hideously expensive, similar formats will exist in other brands too , but worth a look see :)
Nothin wrong with it in my book, a tool is a tool, but you don’t need a chainsaw to open your mail or a package, half the time I wind up using my keys or a pen
the adventurer guy: look, here. my machete. it came along with me last month, in the jungles of panama...it has taken on some rust, though the other adventure guy: way too unhandy. I got me a kukri. I can hack things with that, as well as neat carving works. the scout boy: I have an opinel. it's nice. the gadget guy: I own six multi tools. my favourite one has four blades, ten different screw drivers, a wine opener thingy, magnifying glass, scissors and pliers. I can cut wire with it. camping chef guy: here, my japanese kitchen knife with 10 inch blade. gotta cut my ingredients up. today on the menue: boar a la wild. the hardcore survivalist: what knife? I bite em logs wif my teef! bloody poussays! *spits on floor* the palaeo enthusiast: no knife for me. I knap my cutting edges as I need them, ughh! has anyone seen a flint nodule, anywhere? and some hammer stones, perhaps?
As a person who owns every one of these knives, a really sharp pocket knife is the best one to have out there, along with a Swiss Army knife in your other pocket.
Knife-guy: So I have this benchmade, this spyderco, an opinel no5. 6. and 7., this nessmuk, a lagouille, an antique silver folding cutlery set, a vitorinox swiss army knife, a leatherman and this beautiful damascus custom piece by Tod Cutler and a plastic spork. All of them have a razor edge on them. Oh, you want to cut something? Ummm... I can't really lend you mine, I don't want to scratch this mirror polish I have on them. Oh wait! Here, you can borrow my Mora, it's my cheap "beater" knife. You should probably get one, they're cheap and really good for the price!
I'm the guy who destroys all knives and uses them for everything. My knives only range from 80 to 160 on average , except my beautiful buck skinning knife that was 230 the bad girl is 7.25 inches of d2 baby
This is funny for me because I have used my sp2 for bushcraft. It's not a bad all around knife. Factory edge. Oof! With some work it's learning to cut.
I carry a folding knife that's thin enough to carry in my wallet. Very sharp, holds edge well. Looks classy, get lots of compliments about it. Very useful for normal knife uses. Sucks for hard cutting tho.
I mean if I know I'm gonna be doing some hard shit I'd use a cheap knife so I wouldn't feel bad if it breaks but for outdoors it would have to be a FULL TANG fixed blade. Even a cheap one will hold up for most uses
I love how the "guy"who has the Swiss knows more then the "dude" with the gas station knife, love it🤣 I'm the bushcraft/carrying something waaaayyyyyy too over kill type of guy hahahaha. Just not so technical about what part of the edge is used🤣
The Swiss army knife is realistically all you will need in a survival situation. However, when I go on multiple day hikes I carry a survival knife with a kit in the hilt. The kit is a zip-lock back with matches, a strike strip, fishing line, a couple of fishing hooks, and some lead weights for fishing. The way you get to the kit is by unscrewing the ball compass at the base of the hilt, the sheath also has a compartment for a miniature whetstone. The blade is 12 inches and the blunt side has a serated part that's pretty good for sawing small branches. I also carry a Swiss army hatchet and a machete.
As a 20 year trained swordsmen and cqc expert (cuz ive had nothing better to do with the last 20 years of my life since 7) i would just bring a small various collection
You call that a knife? Let me show you what a real knife looks like. This is a ninja chef stainless steel made in china 10'' kitchen knife. I use this puppy you anything a knife can do but cheaper. Each chop with this bad boy and you'd best bet that I cross my fingers it doest snap in half.
I love these videos. They are great. the speaking is realistic and not over saturated. I feel like I'm watching something neet; rather than an infomercial.
Meh, a good multitool is good enough for most functions. Now you can argue about multi tool brands. Might I humbly suggest the leatherman wave knockoff.
Flashback to me explaining to my HS friend to clip the knife in the outside corner of his pocket after he complained that "it takes up too much of my pocket" while having it clipped in the inside (closer to the crotch) corner SMH
You didn't mention the entusiest. The Entusiest: A type of knife owner who has a massive collection of unusual and often very expensive knives that they literally never use...
Had a nice sheffield folder that had the seat belt cutter AND a bottle opener AND a window-breaker/lanyard loop. Decent steel on it too, but it's lost to time.
I'm kinda two in one. I always have a clip knife hanging in my pocket, and if I know I might need a bigger one, I'll carry one of my many full tang knives on my belt. Too many uses for a steel blade to not have one on hand at all times.
I personally love the Glock 81 with the saw back it’s a nice diverse knife you can use for almost everything and it has a beer opener can be used as a bayonet it’s just all around a nice knife
I collect once in a while but the guy at the pilot almost sliced his fingers open with a stilleto. I had to take over because i did not want to see any blood. And no i dont always collect from the gas station. Its just that some of there knives are cheap and honestly pretty good for small stuff nothing big. Thats where the machete comes in hand. 🙂
I carry all three when im out in the bush and use all three regularly lol when your a fisherman a leatherman or any good multitool with a pair of pliers is worth it’s weight in gold then I carry a good fixed blade on my belt or on my pack and a small flipper in the pocket
